  • "Washing machine was awful didn't wash properly nd then wouldnt spin clothes so they came out soaking very out dated."

The blind in the twin room once down wouldn't go back up. But did enjoy our stay and the view. You may want to take a picture of the parking as it very steep and tight that was a let down it wasn't stated about the tightness only limited parking.

Hello. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We love Portland. That’s strange the washing machine did not work properly as it was brand new in February this year and has been fine. But annoying for you and we have sent someone to check it. We agree parking in Fortuneswell can be busy which is why we mark it as limited. Fortuneswell is on a hill which is why you get spectacular views and sunsets so I suppose it is a bit of a trade off. To help guests park we leave a note of alternative parking in a flat and secure place a short walk away, but obviously that is not directly outside. Property Owner

  • "We had the perfect week at Lyme View and took full advantage of the closeness to the beach and the suntrap back patio area."

The house is lovely, modern inside and well-equipped, but being senior I needed the (provided) instructions for everything and we didn't know what some gadgets even were! No DVD or CD player, so these stayed in the car, which we were lucky enough to park outside on arrival, but I think the parking does require a confident driver. However, there is a bus stop a five minute walk from the house and a very good service into Weymouth and in the other direction towards Portland Bill. Walking one way out of the house is hilly, the other down lots of steps. The stairs in the house are also quite steep, so as previously noted by another guest I would say this house may be a challenge for those without good mobility. The closeness of seafront pub and cafe, and the CoOp and a fish and chip shop on the main road nearby make the house perfect for a car free seaside holiday. The Portland Museum and D-Day Centre are both excellent and well worth visiting. Of course Chesil Beach is fabulous. We will definitely be back.

  • "Just a couple of niggle bits."

Washing machine spin does not work. Iron cable needs replacing, badly kinked and wires showing. Lounge rug needs securing, a trip hazard. Incinerator does not work. Also needs to mention how hilly it is, not accessible for anyone with poor mobility. Overall though, thrilled with the property.

The property is really well furnished and feels really homely. The decked area outside was perfect for enjoying the evening sun and the views of the sea were super!

  • "An absolute gem."

A wonderful property in a ticked away but great location. AThe photos don't really do it justice. Great sea views and a real suntrap at the back. Perfect inside with everything you need for a great week. It's a five minute walk to the beach and within striking distance of Weymouth. If you have never stayed on Portland before....don't expect luxury. It's weird and weirdly wonderful. The locals are really friendly and we had a fantastic time.

  • "Our ratings are based on what we paid & other cottages we stayed."

Despite the weather not being great all the time, we enjoyed our stay at this cottage. Well laid out, tastefully decorated, modern appliances, warm & located closely to shops, pubs & takeaways. The cottage was minutes away from the coast & walks along Chesil Beach. We found Portland amazing, lots of places to visit, Castles, Prisons, Great Photo Areas, Portland Bill & an amazing area of Stone Sculptures. Plenty places to visit off the ‘Island’ places like Weymouth, Durdle Door, Dorchester, Abbotsbury & Corfe Castle. The Negatives (if that) was Parking limited & difficult to park outside the property. However, plenty places to park minutes away. Not much info or containers for recycling, maybe we didn’t understand the instructions. Outside at the back was a small sun trap to have a cuppa or breakfast as well as an area for our small dog to enjoy. Overall a very good Cottage & Area to stay.

  • "A really tastefully decorated and light filled house with great views of the sea and within easy walking distance of the beach."

Really well equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare your own meals. Shower is fantastic with great water pressure and beds really comfy and VERY quiet at night for undisturbed sleep. Outside terrace a great spot for a glass of wine (or two) and was a safe enclosed space for our little dog to play and snooze in. Neighbours are very friendly and helped out on a couple of occasions with questions we had about the area We loved our stay here and if back in Portland would have no hesitation in booking again if this charming house is available.

  • "The house was brilliant, we enjoyed staying there."

It was really clean and tidy on our arrival. The home is really nicely decorated and it felt comfortable and cosy. The description on how to find it and the parking was very detailed which helped. The description and photos were accurate. I would highly recommend staying here, I was really impressed overall. Oh and the views of the sea are stunning! It gets lots of light so it was really lovely for a summer weekend away.

  • "Lovely location and property."

Wasn't sure which bin was to be used and no obvious recycling bin. The under sheet on the main bed didn't appear to fit properly. Just a couple of observations and we would certainly stay again as a beautiful place and plenty to see and explore. Thank you
