  • "Fabulous cottage."

Everything we needed for a great stay cation. Getting out of drive a small problem and a mirror opposite would help to see oncoming traffic. Great walks locally and a fully enclosed garden for our dog made this the perfect spot. Would definatley recommend The Lodge. Thankyou

  • "Cottage fully equipped."

Clean and cosy, with large secure garden. Easy accses to Dorchester, (use footpath, a little bit longer, but its safer than using the road bridge as there is no pavement.) The Sun Inn three minutes walk, very good menu, food delicious, good beer and efficient staff.

  • "The cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped and plenty warm enough."

Our dog absolutely loved the garden and spent ages sniffing around. Good food available at the local pub (eay walking distance). The two problems we came across were that the wi-fi was unreliable and the traffic noise could be a bit much at times.

  • "The lack of free reasonably fast easy to use internet service is a major negative for what would otherwise be a very pleasant holiday experience."

Our internet ran out after only 24 hours, who wants to keep working out why the service has stopped and be fiddling about topping up dongles to get back online in the middle of watching a film on Netflix?

  • "No covid clean carried out."

In fact we arrived the second day of our booking and no cleaning or bed changed had been made. Absolutely appalling. We had to have a meal at local pub until cottage had been cleaned. Definitely not a covid clean anyway. Very disappointing. As I am 80 yrs old this could cause health problems for me. Very unhappy.

  • "This was a lovely cottage, and for us, ideally located."

Yes there is road noise, but we didn't mind it generally, and we did have the doors to the garden open quite a bit. Appreciate it might be more challenging in the summer, if you wanted to sleep with windows open. For us it just became white noise in the background. The location was great - a couple minutes walk in one direction to the pub, and roughly the same distance in the other direction to the supermarket, all on paved walking-cycling trail. Continued on the path along the river and up into Dorchester a couple of times, which wasn't far but the last uphill bit slows the journey. The paths are literally outside the cottage, which was great - countryside type walks for the dog in an instant. The cottage had everything we needed, and an excellent enclosed garden for our Yorkshire Terrier, who roared round it many times trying to find the source of the sounds for the birds in the trees, tractors passing, and other dogs on the path on the other side of hedge/fence! It certainly kept her entertained. Others have commented on the TV, and that would be a welcome improvement, with a remote that doesn't need the batteries holding in to use it. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bathroom has a compact washing machine and dryer, which came in handy, as did the airer in the single bedroom wardrobes. Beds were comfortable and cosy. We struggled a bit with the power shower, to get a strong enough flow and to get the temperature right, but it wasn't a real problem. We brought our own WiFi hot-spot from home, so didn't use the one in the cottage, but expect it would have worked similarly - we got a solid signal for both our hot-spot and mobiles. Frome Lodge House was clean and cosy, with a little welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, cake, etc. which was lovely. We hope to visit again, once the pandemic is over!

  • "As ever Sykes has helped get away in a cottage that was as described."

Of course the main issue, if there was an issue, is the cottages location. The cottage is located very close to a main road and traffic noise is somewhat frustrating. In the summer it would be something else. This is detailed and I can begin to understand why!

The footpaths were really safe for walking my dog.

  • "Genuinely dog-friendly cottage with large secure garden."

Location of cottage ideal for visiting places of interest to us, e.g. Highcliffe Castle, Portland Bill and Tolpuddle. Also close enough to Dorchester to walk in, and to the local supermarket, but felt rural and private.

  • "The Lodge is ok for a couple although the bathroom is very small."

There are nice footpaths outside the property offering good links to the town and to the Sun Inn pub. There is also an excellent enclosed garden which was ideal for our pet dog. Although the adjacent road was unclassified it was very busy and there is constant traffic noise both day and night.

  • "Frome Lodge is ideally located for touring the south coast, 7 miles to Weymouth beach where there is a dog friendly section near the fun fair."

Perfectly enclosed garden for dogs. Straight onto a dog walk through the water meadows into Dorchester. The Lodge itself is very quaint and well equipped, garden furniture could do with updating but we took our own chairs.

  • "The very best thing about Frome Lodge House was that the dog friendly secure garden actually really was secure."

Being the proud owner of two lurchers, both of who can jump quite high and are skinny enough to wriggle under fences, we have found in the past we have had to keep them on the long lead in the so called secure garden. Not here, and this was such a relief and meant we could really relax and enjoy the sunny evenings during our week here.
