“This is a return visit to the house, it is such a lovely house to use as a base for a visit to the Isle of Wight.”

The conversion is excellent, the entertaining space fantastic - the only draw back being the 4th bedroom which is smaller and not en-suite. The walks from the house are lovely with plenty to do in the area. We had need to contact the owners while at the house and the response to our request was both positive and immediate.

The property

A stunning church conversion located in the village of Totland, on the west side of the Isle of Wight.

This beautiful cottage is bright and spacious and ideal for families and friends looking to discover this delightful island and was featured in The Times, 50 best cottages in Britain for 2016.

As you turn into The Avenue, you cannot miss this striking church conversion.

Just driving through the double gates fills you with excited anticipation, and you will not be disappointed.

Enter through the main archway into the spacious ground floor, with two large bedrooms both fitted with Smart TVs and bathrooms with walk-in showers and underfloor heating and magnificent windows.

There is also a single bedroom and a family bathroom with a heated floor, to keep your feet toasty.

Before heading upstairs you will find a spacious utility drying room, extremely useful for putting all your wet beachwear in at the end of a relaxing day on one of the areas many superb beaches.

The living area has a huge resplendent window, with stunning, original timber high ceilings, offering a spacious, elegant living environment.

Up on the second floor you will find the master bedroom, with a galleried balcony and a fabulous view from the magnificent window.

Outside, to the front, is parking for three cars and a small lawned area where you can sit and relax whilst planning your adventures for the next day.

Just a half mile walk away from the cottage is Totland beach, or a little further afield is Colwell Bay and the fantastically popular café restaurant, The Hut.

Walk the other way and you’re in quaint Freshwater with many local shops, restaurants and cafés.

Alternatively, take a breathtaking walk up to Headon Down, a fantastic place to blow away the cobwebs and visit the Bronze Age burial mound surrounded by heather, rosebay, willowherb, centaury, dwarf gorse and tormentil, all perfect for the rare Dartford Warbler which happily breeds here.

Take a picnic and enjoy some of the best island views, especially at twilight when the sun is beginning to set.

A wonderful cottage in a fabulous location.
