  • "We liked the house in its quiet location."

The kitchen was well equipped and there were tea towels suppled. We slept downstairs but I think the springs could be felt in the upstairs beds. The back yard could do with a little attention. Some nice shrubs would be good and the surface could be improved. A few nice pictures on the walls would be good. However, we were fine and may come back again.

The only thing I would say is the garden when compared to the house could do with a bit of TLC to make it more relaxing Overall lovely place to stay .

  • "The property is well located and clean however there are a couple of things that could be improved upon; 1."

The quality of the kitchen equipment was poor - the saucepans were flimsy, worn and they did not all appear to have lids. It would be a struggle to cook for six with the equipment provided. The standard of equipment was equivalent to a student kitchen! 2. The bedding was of poor quality, the duvets were made of a synthetic material and the sheets were so thin that you could see the pattern of the mattress through them. The towels were also worn. 3. The whole property requires painting internally - there were multiple wear marks on the walls and doors. 4. The fences in the back garden require painting - they are of different colours and appear scruffy - this is not a pleasant place to sit. 5. A pint of milk in the fridge upon arrival would have been appreciated .

Thank you for your comments, I am happy the two of you appreciate the property is well located and clean. I will take your further comments on board. The interior of the house has now been repainted (Covid restricted us from our usual maintenance program). We hope to replace the fences very soon! Property Owner

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Serenity."

The accommodation was contemporary and comfortable, with a roomy living area including a well-equipped kitchen. The outside space was a bonus - a great suntrap to chill out in at the end of the day. Comfortable beds, great bathroom, wi-fi and a Smart TV - couldn't ask for more. This definitely lived up to expectations, and we highly recommend this property.

  • "Very enjoyable stay in a well presented cottage."

Shame about the mix up on arrival though. We settled into the cottage only to find that we had been given instructions for the wrong cottage, so we had to move to next door. This rather implicated the covid cleanliness of the property as we had touched things, so would surely have made more sense to leave us there. I realise the people moving in had a disabled person so it was probably due to the steps to the second property.

So happy you enjoyed your stay and the cottage. Sorry for the mixup on arrival! Thank you for full marks! Hope to see you back again very soon Property Owner

About the location

FRESHWATER

Yarmouth 3 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Fishbourne 16 miles; Ryde 18 miles.

Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and consists of Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafes and the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool. The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The renowned Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape. Locally, Afton Down (the location of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival), and Tennyson Down are the most popular walks. At the foot of Tennyson Down is the Dimbola Museum and Photographic Galleries. The Needles Pleasure Park at Alum Bay with its coloured sand cliffs and chairlift to the beach is just south west of Freshwater, plus a little further afield on the north coast of the Isle of Wight is the premier yachting centre of Cowes. Osborne House (the former home of Queen Victoria) is located at East Cowes. The nearby Farringford Hotel on the edge of Freshwater Bay was once the home of the British Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and many notable poets, authors and painters have been attracted to the area of West Wight over the years. With the seaside town of Yarmouth close by with its busy harbour and pier, shops, inns, eateries and impressive Tudor castle, this is an ideal base for an enjoyable holiday.
