  • "We found "The Barn" to be a very special place, converted to a very high standard and situated in a fantastic location."

It has an interesting layout which makes it unique, such as the stable door and full height window in the 1st floor living room and ground floor kitchen. The enclosed south facing courtyard is safe for dogs and the outdoor seating lets you make the most of this sun trap. We really enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Barn and look forward to a future return visit.

  • "A beautifully presented property, very clean and well maintained and in a fabulous location."

My wife and I stayed for a lovely peaceful week and very much enjoyed our visit. The property is well equipped and has everything you need for a relaxing and stress free stay. The location is perfect, it has amazing views over the surrounding countryside, with great walks on the doorstep, plus great pubs close by. The property is very well positioned as a base for visiting the local area. You are close to Axebridge, Cheddar and Burnham, all of which are worth a visit. Plus Wells, Bath and Bristol, are all easily accessible too. We had a perfect stay and I would highly recommend the property to others.

  • "Our stay at The Barn was absolutely fantastic!"

It's in a beautiful and peaceful location. It was just what myself and my partner needed for a relaxing break. The owners had thought of absolutely everything :). And, the welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and homemade flapjacks were a lovely touch as were the flowers. The Barn is perfectly located to explore the local area with some amazing walks right on the doorstep. Our dog Pixie, particularly liked pottering around the pretty courtyard garden and then falling asleep in front of the wood burning stove. The owners had provided ample fuel, so we were never cold! Thank you so much for a lovely break and we hope to see you again soon. x

  • "Lovely location and friendly owners, cottage was very cosy, and has been nicely thought out, we were made to feel very welcome."

Ideal for couples. Nice location for walks and close location to Cheddar Gorge. Just let down a little bit by a slight lack of cleanliness and bathroom being a bit overdue for a revamp. Example such as the mattress cover was dirty (noticed when taking off the sheets at end of the stay), also stairs didn't appear to be cleaned, noticed pet hairs on arrival. One other recommendation would be to have a larger TV in the lounge area to improve overall experience.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in The Barn. The Barn (including the shower room) will receive its annual refresh in early February. We will bring your other comments to the cleaners' attention. We agree with you that a larger television in the sitting room would be a good idea and we will replace it for the 2022 season. Thank you once again for your feedback and we wish you a Happy New Year. Property Owner

Personal choice but found the double bed small and would have been comfier with a bigger bed. Also could do with a slightly bigger tv, but did not in anyway ruin the stay. Beautiful place and lovely welcoming touches, would highly recommend and would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

The accommodation was very clean & comfortable with views all around of the local countryside. The location is ideal for walking & getting away from it all in these Covid Times. The welcome pack provided made us feel very welcome. Close to Wells & the beautiful cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, the coast & Glastonbury to name a few. The gardens at Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet are wonderful. There is also an upmarket shopping outlet & excellent cafe/restaurant at the same location.

  • "A scenic part of the country with many places to visit near to the accommodation."

The accommodation is lovely with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The owners are very helpful and meeting them made the visit even more special. The gifts from the owners make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive and are very much appreciated. We felt the dining area could be a little more welcoming as in comparison to all the other rooms it felt a bit bare. However it was more than adequate for it's purpose. We would have liked access to a cd player as we enjoy listening to them but aware that there was access to a radio. You do need to use your car to get to surrounding areas but this is to be expected when you stay somewhere that is a little remote. It is a special place and we would like to return sometime.

The Barn is spacious and very comfortably equipped for two people. Alison and Nigel were very friendly hosts who had lots of suggestions and advice for things to do and places to visit. Cheddar, Wells, Bath, Minehead, Exmoor and the beautiful Somerset north coast are all within easy reach. We had a lovely week at the Barn.

  • "Our hosts were very cordial and obliging."

The barn was perfect for our needs and as our main requirement was to bring the cat, a request that was freely granted, we were very happy indeed. The Barn is tastefully furnished and is very spacious and comfortable. It is silent despite its reasonably close proximity to some busy roads and sitting outside in the courtyard was ideal for meditation and quiet reflection. We received a visit from some friends and our hosts provided extra seating, a tablecloth, a parasol and freshly picked sweet peas! The views from the Barn are wonderful and with its bucolic setting I would recommend it to anyone with a love for the countryside. The surrounding hills provide superb views over Wales, Devon and a large portion of Somerset. They are easy to negotiate and yet have a feeling of the wild and the remote. The views down to the valley reveal the Arcadian setting of The Barn with the nearby, very elegant village church and surrounding farms. All in all, superb!

Views are stunning. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lovely little extras of their hens eggs, milk, fresh flowers, homemade flapjacks and some cider made it feel so welcoming. Full size fridge freezer, a dishwasher and a washer drier plus iron, ironing board and hairdryer provided. It was the perfect area for us with a dog who is stranger and dog reactive. We hardly saw a soul on our walks. Stairs are steep but not overly so.

We loved the fact that our dog had a very safe courtyard to potter around in and walks were directly on your doorstep. Also there are a couple of pubs within an easy walk that are dog friendly. Charming, thoughtful touches by the owners ( e.g. flowers from the garden, fresh eggs, home made flapjacks and a hand written welcome card). Plus the only holiday cottage we have stayed at that supplied a much-needed apron! And always good to find a place that is only for two people, which are quite rare, especially when you factor in whether dogs are welcome, but not in any way pokey!
