  • “We had a nice holiday in Wiltshire but there are some things about the holiday accommodation worth knowing.”

Feedback is asked for and is provided fro our personal perspective. Firstly the property is very close to the owners property - literally a step away, so if you want complete privacy then this isn’t the property for that. Proximity is not obvious from the pics. We arrived after 4 on Saturday as requested but the lack of a welcome pack - even a pint of milk would have been welcome - meant we had to go back out searching the local area for a shop that was still open so we could have a coffee. Surprisingly difficult as local shops closed at 4 on Saturdays and we ended up back in Salisbury which meant a round trip of 40 mins, after our journey down. This was somewhat exasperating and easily avoided. The owner was able to sort an issue out with the Sky tv reasonably quickly by the Sunday, but we felt we were inconveniencing them a bit which was somewhat uncomfortable. A check that things are working before guests arrive would help to avoid this as no one likes to complain to strangers! . The cottage is nicely done out but given the choice, I’d lose the pool table which dominates the entire downstairs space (and is a bit of a novelty) and invest in some comfortable chairs to relax in and a larger dining table as kitchen space is very limited for food prep and there’s the nowhere to relax and watch the larger Sky TV. Zip and link kingsize bed was comfortable but does tend to separate a couple as one person inevitably ends up in the ‘linked’ bit of the bed! A usual kingsize bed would avoid this and as accommodation is aimed at couples, I’m not sure what the benefit is. We mostly relaxed in the upstairs lounge area in the evening. The sofa needs ideally needs replacing - definitely seen better days and isn’t comfortable for two people. The turning to the farm is off and onto a very busy road and would benefit from a sign. Not sure why this isn’t in place as seems logical for a holiday let business and would avoid the complicated directions. None of this detracts from the overall cleanliness of the property and the lovely garden around the house with the views across country. We loved hearing the owls at night, and enjoyed Salisbury. We travelled around the county villages, and into Poole, and overall had a nice break from busy jobs in unseasonably fine weather.
