  • "Disappointed to be fair."

Having stayed there before I was expecting a similar experience to the previous. The hot tub was trashed by the previous occupants we were informed and so would be out of action for a couple of days whilst it was cleaned which didn't happen. It was eventually fit for purpose on our last day. I also didn't appreciate the hot tub company contacting us directly to ask why we were complaining. Very unprofessional. After their first attempt at cleaning, on my inspection I found chewing gum at the bottom so I felt entitled to complain. Still awaiting owners comments.

  • "We stayed here for a family getaway as we were celebrating a big birthday."

First of all … WOW. It was unreal. The house is everything you could dream of. There were 7 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Everything is catered for. So much space, you aren’t on top of each other. The kitchen was the hub when we were having breakfast lunch or preparing dinner. The log burner on whilst watching Christmas movies was so cosy. The games room and hot tub were a hit with everyone. There were also so many games and books that are in the cupboards you are never going to be bored. Honestly, the whole weekend was just perfect because of this house. Everyone, including the kids want to come back to Mulberry house. The only one thing that could improve is the chair in the living room that has been covered has leather underneath that drops off and I didn’t like the room looking messy so was picking it up continuously. However, that is only because it’s spotless and you want to make sure it stays this way!! It truly is beautiful. Highly recommend!! Perfect

  • "Hi. We wanted to keep on top of the cleaning but the hoover wasn’t picking up very well unfortunately."

We found that the cupboard door in utility was holding on by one hinge. The shower door above the garage came off on first use. Luckily it was caught! It may have shattered if it had been dropped. The downstairs bedroom which I assume would be used as an office or other was extremely hot and uncomfortable for my son and wife. Apart from these points, we had a lovely stay and thought the house was amazing. We made the most of the large dining room, living room and the en-suites were great for us as we are mostly an adult family. We had so much fun in the games room and hot tub. Plenty of parking for all of us too. It’s ideal for large groups. Thank you to the owners. We loved it!

Really peaceful, but not to far to travel to places. Mulberry House is spacious, yet cosy & we'd definitely recommend to anyone looking at staying here.

  • "Beautiful property and would highly recommend for those without mobility problems."

The concern for us was the lack of a downstairs shower. We searched for accommodation with a downstairs bedroom and you market the property as "ideal for a elderly relative or those with limited mobility". The absence of a accessible shower room did impact on our stay. Also a small handrail down to the lounge area would have made it more accessible and enjoyable for us all.

  • "Overall our stay was lovely we had a heat wave so got to spend most of our time at the lovely beaches."

We only spent one day making use of the house as we had young children with us and the garden wasn’t really toddler friendly. There is quite a bit of a steep hill which wasn’t advertised in the photos. Plus with all the trees we found we were getting eaten alive. Didn’t ruin our time away it was beautiful just not suitable for us and luckily we had the chance to make use of the lovely weather at the beaches. The kitchen and all its equipment was amazing and overall the cleanliness was fab. Only concern really was the bedroom above the garage toilet look very stained and we couldn’t use the shower in that room as it always ran cold. We didn’t get use of the hot tub, I think 4 members of the party used it on the Sunday as we stayed in and used the bbq, (although that needs a clean the bottom tray was awful we tried to clean it for them but you needed to unscrew things to do it so we left it, they should really take more pride in this such a lovely bbq and on the surface you could clean it but the fat from other bbqs was thick on the bottom tray causing unneeded smoke). Back to the tub the individuals who used the tub said sand was on the bottom and the water looked a bit misty but we just let it go as we did everything else, and like I said we didn’t stay in the house often we were out from the house most days by 10ish and not back till any time between 5-7, ready to get kids a bed. I got a really upsetting message when we returned home from the house keeper, “We have just opened the hot tub… and can’t believe how dirty the water is!!! It clearly states on the hot tub information that you should shower and no fake tan before you get in to the Hottub…. Also the heat was down and the filtration pump was off!! The tub will need draining and cleaning of scum!! There will be a £100 charge for this…. As stated in the information pack, Would you like to resolve this between us or shall I notify Sykes” Now I wasn’t going to write a review and I was going to just let it go as to be honest I don’t like to waste my energy on negativity but this text really upset me. The hot tub lady came to the house early Wednesday morning to clean the tub. She explained the hot tub hadn’t had chorine added for 5 weeks as the levels were high. She took a sample of the water and we as a party didn’t get back in the tub as we thought it was unhygienic. The text from the property caretaker was extremely rude. Not one individual in the party wears fake tan, and to say scum was just rude. I highly recommend they empty the tub anyway it did not look the cleanest and surely there is an issues if the lady who come to clean it needed to take a sample, and said she didn’t understand why the levels were so high as no chlorine had been added for 5 weeks. The way he text to ask if we wanted to resolve this between us and pay £100 or go through Sykes. I strongly explained I would go through Sykes when/if they contacted me. (Which they haven’t to date) It really felt like they were just trying to get another £100 out of us for something they needed to do anyway. If anything we should be getting money back for not being able to use the facilities like the shower and tub and bbq like we intended. We have used Sykes many times and never once have I complained but I found this extremely upsetting. We paid a lot of money and treated the house very well and I am very disappointed with the text we received. The gentleman was clearly aware we were house pride as I texted him to ask him about the vacuum whilst we were away and he never even responded. We will not be returning. I put 0 as I would recommend this house now due to the way we were treated to many things ignore as we are kind people to then be treated so poorly.

Weather wasn’t great for us so we didn’t use the hot tub but the garden was attractive with plenty of tables and chairs. We would return.

  • "Our family had a great time celebrating my husband's 60th birthday."

Plenty of room for everyone and lots of things to keep everyone entertained. The games room was a winner with not just pool available but table tennis. The hot tub was amazing and a fire pit in the evening for everyone to sit around. There was loads games in the cupboards to use, so many that I didn't need to bring my own. For cleanliness the house is absolutely spotless and decorated to a very high spec. I noticed someone had mentioned about a barking dog but the only time we heard the dog was when parking our cars. I cannot recommend this property enough and we will definitely be back.

  • "We had an excellent time staying at Mulberry House, however the only thing I would mention is the dog next door!"

Consistency barking!!! I appreciate not much can be done, but when there are notes in the house asking to keep the noise down and respect the neighbours, this should perhaps be bought to the neighbours attention too. However this did not spoil our stay. Thanks very much
