  • "On arrival the grass and hedges surrounding the property had not been cut for at least 3 weeks or more, so all guests and dog unable to play or walk on it."

The upstairs toilet was not working we contacted the caretaker and owner in regards to this and the grass , caretaker advised that a plumber had been called and she had told the owner about cutting the grass. Plumber didn't come until Monday ( which meant we had to stay in until he had finished) also the shower tray was overflowing plumber cleaned out lots of hair and stuff and cleaned with drain cleaner. my partner who is chronic Asthmatic was unable to be in the house when we cooked as the extractor fan did not work rendering the kitchen very smoky, no logs in the shed as stated in the folder, curtains in guests room were torn along the curtain rail and hanging by a thread. we had booked a property with garden 2 toilets and a wood burner we were all very very disappointed there wasn't even a hoover or broom to clean i had to clean carpets and kitchen floor with a dust pan and brush. I have taken pictures if you need to see them. maybe someone should oversee this property. This was not my usual happy Sykes experience

We were terribly sorry that this guest was disappointed with her recent stay, the first of our guests to report negatively to us. There was unfortunately a problem with the toilet flush in one of the bathrooms which we responded to straight away. It is unclear what the issue was with the extractor fan which was working normally when we have checked subsequently . As it explains in our welcome pack we consider ourselves very lucky to have a family of hedgehogs living in the garden so we quite deliberately garden in a wildlife friendly manner. Had the guests notified us that they were bringing a dog with a disability to the property we would have advised them accordingly. Once again we are sorry this has arisen and spoiled their visit and we will be addressing matters with our housekeeping team to make sure these are addressed. Property Owner
