  • "The Hobbit House fully lived up to our expectations."

It is compact but well designed and excellently equipped. The owners are delightful, doing everything possible to ensure we enjoyed our week long stay in this beautiful but undiscovered part of the world. Fresh flowers and jar of home made marmalade a nice touch. We found some stunning walks and pubs (highly recommend the Tally Ho especially) and nearby Stockbridge is charming. Nearest pub is a little too far for an easy stroll but a real bonus is Dean railway station, about ten minutes walk away, giving easy access (12 minutes) to Salisbury and further afield. The Test Valley, with its chocolate box villages and river walks, is stunning but feels off the beaten track. On sunny evenings we loved returning to the Hobbit House for a glass of wine or G&T and sitting on our private terrace overlooking the garden. The Hobbit House is a semi detached outbuilding in the extensive grounds of the owners' property but feels very private. Wifi signal wasn't amazing but fine for checking emails, planning trips etc. Use of a washing machine another bonus.

  • "The hobbit was truly charming and the hosts had provided everything you could possibly need."

The bed was extremely comfortable and excellent quality items were used. The towels were large, thick and fluffy everything was top class. Richard and Sara were the most wonderful genuine people and really wanted you to have a lovely holiday. They were informative of the area and very helpful. Lovely memories! Highly recommended Maureen and Barrie Kellett

  • "The Hobbit House is a perfect, peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful gardens and countryside."

Sara and Richard are wonderful hosts and very welcoming. They gave us a tour of their garden, which Sara has created, and it is such a haven of peace. The Hobbit House is full of charm and character and, though small is perfectly formed! We couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay in to visit Hampshire. It’s our first visit to Hampshire - it offers so many beautiful and varied walks and villages to explore and it’s not far if you fancy a day at the beach. Can’t wait to return to Hampshire.

  • "It was a perfect place for us."

Kind and helpful hosts, beautiful surroundings, quiet and rural, but the train station nearby means it's not isolated.

  • "Slightly on the expensive side."

Smaller than, perhaps, we expected - which is fine when the weather is good, but slightly cramped when the weather isn't too good, and one has to stay in. But lovely host and hostess ( Richard and Sara), and good facilities. Lovely garden to sit in. If unfamiliar with single track roads this may not be the best option, although the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

  • "Our stay at the Hobbit House will be remembered with fondness."

It has been an extremely comfortable and well equipped base to explore the surrounding area. The setting is idyllic with beautiful gardens and vistas which immediately make one relax. Sara and Richard have been the kindest and friendliest of hosts - we have appreciated the homemade marmalade, homegrown produce and cut flowers. We are pleased to have discovered the Hobbit House and would not hesitate to recommend it.
