  • "Second time we have stayed at this property."

Ample parking on site. Excellent base for walking and exploring Somerset. Property is spotlessly clean, well maintained and charming. Owners on site if you need them. I would highly recommend staying at this property.

Thank you for your lovely review, Simon and for visiting us twice. Hope fully we may see you a third time ? Property Owner

  • "One of the best holidays by far, the property was beautiful, peaceful and very clean."

It has everything you need provided, ample parking, good tv reception with no noise and no light pollution for a perfect sleep The location is amazing central to Wells, Glastonbury, cheddar and much more. The pubs are in walking distance and I would suggest going the Star Inn the food is out of this world with very friendly staff. If you like strawberries local sellers are everywhere and cider/ale shops in walking range. I would stay here again when going to Somerset was just perfect

Thank you for your amazing review Jonathan. We are so pleased that you both enjoyed your stay and would love to see you again anytime. Property Owner

  • "A very comfortable bed, which is often lacking in holiday cottages- thank you."

The Forge is very well equipped and we were also very impressed by the recycling station. The only other feedback we would give is that we received conflicting information about when and how the property should be vacated from Sykes (probably due to rules changing so frequently over the last few years), so it would have been useful to have clear expectations set out in the blue folder. We had a lovely meal in the Star Inn, many thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you for staying with us Jenny and for your excellent feedback. We have implemented your suggestion and have now added vacating notes to the information folder. We would love to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Clean and well equipped and situated in the countryside but near to many places of interest."

Only changes suggested would be the single beds - not comfy and the mattress cover slips over the mattress so you side about! Not a major issue Checking out time of 9:30am too early

  • "We found The Forge an excellent place to stay and where pleased with the lovely welcome pack provided by the owners."

It was very clean and quiet and the only reason we didn't give it a 10 was because the tv was a bit small for the size of the living room and the WiFi was a bit temperamental

Nice touches included scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival. Met by the owner on arrival (who lived onsite) but you were left alone. We definitely plan to re-visit Somerset and would try and book this cottage again.

  • "Upon arrival I was met kindly by one of the owners of the cottages who showed me where to park, and walked me to the cottage I had rented."

Upon entering the cottage, it was noticeable that it had been recently cleaned top to bottom, and complimentary scones, jam, clotted cream, and strawberries were on the side, with a pint of milk in the fridge for a well needed cup of tea. There was an itinerary on the desk with records of what and how the place had been cleaned, and instructions on how the appliances worked in the cottage. Also included were menus of local places that were recommended, and I can say now that I recommend them too. Clean towels were laid out on the beds ready for use, and the beds although unfamiliar, were comfy. One evening we brought back fish and chips from a local shop, and the lady owner brought over salt, vinegar, and tomato ketchup for us to use, which we were very grateful for. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

We visited Cheddar Gorge, Bristol and Bath and Weston Super Mere and Frome all well worth a visit. The Forge was well equipped and comfortable and the local scenery was beautiful. Walks around the Mendip Hills on the doorstep. Ideal for anyone who enjoys countryside walking. Would certainly holiday here again.
