  • "A really cozy and well-appointed cottage."

Ideally placed for visits to National Trust properties. Fabulous dog walks and lots of places to run in the morning. Would stay again

  • "Lovely Christmas week spent in Downton visiting family and friends."

Cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, kitchen fully equipped to ensure Christmas dinner was cooked to perfection. Very cosy. Excellent location for dog walks, The Moot and of course The New Forest. Local cafe and The Bull pub very friendly and excellent food in both. Crib Service attended in the local Church, very interactive and welcoming. All round wonderful time.

  • "Very comfortable cottage equipped with everything you need for your stay."

Conveniently placed for walks in the new forest and close to amenities. As others have stated parking is tight, but not impossible. It's on a very busy road, so there is some traffic noise. That said it didn't impact on our stay and we would definitely book again.

  • "The cottage is a relaxing home from home with everything we needed and in the perfect location for exploring the New Forest."

The welcome basket was a lovely unexpected touch and came in handy, even dog treats which our Springer appreciated. As others have said the parking is tricky if you have a larger vehicle but there was always space available on the street. The cottage was cosy and comfortable with good Wi-Fi and smart TV. It was unseasonably warm on our visit so a fan would have been handy and maybe something for future guests. Lots of great pubs and coffee places locally. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • "This was a lovely stay in an atmospheric cottage setting."

It had all that we needed in order to make our holiday as comfortable and hassle-free as possible. A couple of updates are needed though - the bin collection days have moved to Tuesday each week (not Wednesday), and the black bags in which to deposit our bedding requiring washing at the end of our stay were not available (that I could find). Apart from that, a great place for a vacation with your dog, and I'd do it again gladly.

  • "We had a lovely week at the cottage and was greeted on our arrival by a cute basket of snacks/treats when we entered the property which our two boys loved."

We couldn't fault the cottage and the owner has really made sure everything is avaliable to make your stay as perfect as possible. We all slept very well in the very comfortable bedrooms and the sofa downstairs is great for family movie nights. We would 100% return without hesitation especially given the perfect location to various attractions, New Forest, Sandbanks Beach, Peppa Pig World, Moor Valley Park to name just a view places we visited.

  • "We really enjoyed our visit to the cottage."

The cottage was very comfortable and clean and check in was easy. We would absolutely stay there again. Downton is pretty and we enjoyed walk and breakfast in the cafe. The garden was not as pretty as the photos as it was now mowed and a bit overgrown - but bad weather meant we didn’t go in the garden much at all. My only tiny suggestion for improvement would be to ensure the kitchen is better stocked: no salt and pepper or tea towel - but we bought one and left it behind.

Our only "complaint" came from the dog - she found the pebble drive very uncomfortable to walk on!

  • "Not a good start, got to cottage around 4pm, pouring with rain."

went in looked ok but something didn't feel right. went upstairs, noticed bathroom had dirty washing in bath and on floor. went up to second bedroom, bed stripped and untidy. CLEARLY the cleaner had not been. called Chloe the owner, I was in tears. cleaner came around 6pm, left around 6.40pm. completely put a downer to the start of our holiday. would have been good customer care if Chloe had made a follow up call to me to see if all was ok after the complete sham of a start. Some money back off the stay would also have been appreciated.

Thank you for your feedback. The missed clean was a one off occurrence and was rectified as soon as we were made aware. We apologise for an inconvenience caused. Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage , everything was spotlessly clean and warm."

The beds were great. Downton had great pubs, and cafes, including the Farm Shop at Stable and Wick. The parking was interesting, but we got the hang of it. There wasn’t a basket of logs waiting for us, which was a bit disappointing, but we didn’t need the log burner as it was warm.

  • "We felt the photos did not do the property justice - gorgeous and cosy cottage with enough space for 4 adults, baby and a dog to relax after busy days of walking and exploring."

The travel cot requested had been forgotten but a call on arrival and it was there and ready for us within 20 minutes. A couple of other things hadn't been replenished such as logs for the fire but I'm sure we could of contacted the host for these if we wanted them, she seemed very friendly. An excellent little base with good walks from the door, we loved heading to Woodgreen for lunch in The Horse and Groom and also had delicious fish and chips from the chippy a few doors down from the cottage. Getting in and out of the car port was a little challenging but the very friendly neighbour popped out and opened up his drive to allow us to turn the cars around so we didn't need to reverse out to the road. We are already planning when we can come and stay again as we loved it so much!

  • "A very comfortable cosy cottage."

Stayed here over Christmas - nice to see houses in the village decorated with lights and appreciated that the cottage was decorated too. Fish and chip shop very close by (although only accepted cash). Co-op walking distance up the road (roughly 10 mins). Well equipped accommodation (the listing says there are two TVs - there was only one but this was not a problem for us). Would recommend to family and friends.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad you had a lovely Christmas at the cottage and we do hope you will stay again in the future. Property Owner

The cottage is equipped with most of the things you need for a countryside holiday, and is warm and cosy. The location is great with a local pub across the road which serves yummy pub food, and a bus stop for bus journey to Salisbury city center, just right at the doorstep for people who didn’t drive. For people with car, there is a covered area for parking. The garden is small but quiet and relaxing in good weather. Overall a good choice for those looking for convenience and comfort with the river Avon and Downton Moot within walking distance.
