The garden is perfect for sun and reading and completely enclosed perfect for the pooch. Downton is a lovely village and had everything we needed. Can't recommend highly enough.

"A nice quiet spot, away from roaring traffic, but the path to the Pop's Barn is long, with steps and a rough, difficult surface to haul baggage over."
Parking is difficult and there is no WIFI - unusual for Sykes Cottages - and a real necessity when on holiday.

"The garden at Pops barn was charming."
The barn itself was not cleaned properly. The cooker oven was dirty and the cooker good had a thick layer of dust on it. The floor was gritty and judging by the state of the hoover hadn’t been hoovered. The living area was dusty. The toaster heated up on the outside burning my partner. The shower ran cold after one shower. The bed was clean but the bed felt damp and was particularly uncomfortable. The sofa was awful to sit on and both the sofa and the rug were filthy. I’m rather annoyed that I paid £100 extra to take my dogs. Given the state it was in. I’m shocked that Sykes has this property listed as previous bookings have been immaculate.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week staying at Pop's Barn."
The property combines the best of both worlds - really quiet and peaceful while in easy reach of the facilities of the village and with easy access to the beautiful New Forest. The garden is a real suntrap and is a great place to sit and relax. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come again.

"We had a lovely trip to the New Forest."
Pops Barn was a lovely place to stay with all that we needed and close to the forest. There was fantastic communication with the owner who seemed really nice. A bottle of wine milk and some rather lovely biscuits were a really nice surprise when we got there. It was fantastic to be able to take both my dogs and they had a wonderful first holiday and the really pretty enclosed garden gave me peace of mind.
We thought that the only two things that were a bit of a bind was the parking and lack of Internet . You have to park on the main road and right up on the pavement ( we were aware that we had to park there.and obviously this isn't the owners fault! ) The trouble was finding a spot as it was packed with cars. The lack of Internet wasn't really an issue for me but my friend could've done with it. ( Again this was told to us before hand) .
All in all, a really nice place to visit and I would recommend Pops Barn to friends.
Thank you for recommending Pop's Barn and we are pleased to hear you had a lovely stay. We are sorry you experienced difficulty in parking and unfortunately the barn does not have wifi, as stated in the description. It is great to hear the dogs has a wonderful first holiday, Hideaways Property Owner

"It was not made clear how far the cottage was from where you had to park the car."
For two 80+ year olds it was a long way to carry heavy suit cases. we have mentioned this to the owner and suggested that the info given makes this clear..
Otherwise fine.

"Pop’s Barn is a really lovely holiday home in the beautiful village of Downton."
The garden truly is a sun trap! The Moot nearby was perfect for our early morning dog walk, the Co-op is very convenient and well stocked, and The Wooden Spoon provided us with excellent company, good ale and delicious meals. One added bonus is the fresh organic local milk dispenser in the car park at The Bull. Creamy, fresh and in glass bottles!

"This compact cottage/barn is ideal for two and is set in the lovely village of Downton."
The cottage had everything we needed for our walking week. The village has two nice pubs (Wooden Spoon & The Goat), a Co-op, butcher and a brewery. What appealed to us was the brewery sets up tables and chairs on a Friday at 4pm and you can enjoy the beer they brew along with wine and other drinks. We walked right from the door on several occasions. The garden is secluded and lovely to sit in on warm days which luckily we had. We loved it.
We are pleased to hear you had a lovely week and were able to enjoy walks right from the stop step of Pop's Barn! Property Owner
