"We had an amazing stay – the house was ideal for celebrating my birthday with the whole family."
The bedrooms were a great size, and the large garden was perfect for relaxing and spending time together. There was plenty of parking, which made things really easy for everyone.
We especially loved the hot tub – such a treat! The location was also fantastic, close to everything we needed.
It did get quite warm upstairs during our stay, but it was during a heatwave, so that was expected. A couple of fans would be a great addition for those hotter days.
Overall, a wonderful stay and we’d definitely come back!
We are so glad you had a lovely holiday at Birchcroft. Its a family place and great to see cross generational family groups enjoying our woodland location. We would love to to see you back again in the future!

"This is a great place to stay, it had everything we needed, was very private and secluded yet near shops etc."
Great short walks for dogs on doorstop and possible to go further without driving (Ferndown Common, Stour Valley Way).
Would definitely recommend this property.

"We had a lovely stay and the property was clean and tidy."
The play house was a huge hit with our grandson.
The hot tub instructions were a bit confusing as there was some of the maintenance tools missing. This was soon cleared up when speaking to the owner.
One of the sinks in the bathrooms does not hold water as the seal on the plug is warn.
The blinds do not have safety catches - we found this out when my grandson found the cord.
This is just a heads up and didn’t detract from our lovely holiday here. Having the park close by was also a plus and the views are fantastic.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in this lovely location. It’s a wonderful place for families to spend time together and it’s great your grandson enjoyed the garden and playhouse. Thanks for bringing a couple of maintenance items to our attention, we will get these resolved straight away. Hopefully we will welcome you back at some point in the future

"We had a lovely stay in this lovely location, the gardens are very pretty and lots of wildlife was seen."
There are some short walks just outside the back of the property which are good if you have dogs. Location is good for the new forest. The property was superficially cleaned and was acceptable. New sofas are nice. Rest of house is a little dated. The whole house could do with a deep clean, lots of tissues behind and under furniture, black mold in all the bathrooms, toilet bowls have stains in them. We didn’t use the hot tub as it was raining most of the time and no outside cover - there looked like there were hot tub towels provided but these were in a plastic bag and looked like they were potentially dirty (odd way to store them). The information explained that the dishwasher is small so they provide plenty of dishwasher tablets but only one was provided. We used the dishwasher with the one tablet but there was a puddle on the floor after, so we wouldn’t have been able to use it anyway. They also say they provide different types of bin liner for bins but these were not available either. The was some food left as a welcome gift I assume? but it was a really odd selection - oat cakes, a bag of crisps and some after eights and some biscoff- I felt like it perhaps was just stuff left by the last occupant instead? There was a box with tea and coffee on the side but that was filled mostly with sweetners and just a couple of coffee satchets. There is an ant problem in the downstairs of the house - with lots of ants running on the furniture in the kitchen and the living room, we made sure not to leave any food on the side as I would imagine there would then be a large army of ants. The outside children’s play shed needs a clean - we had a small child with us so may have used it if it was clean, but the floors were very dirty.
Overall our stay was very nice and we had a lovely stay so I wouldn’t be put off by coming again. Gardens are well maintained. However I feel the house needs some love and attention - starting with a decent deep clean. Small things like providing tea and coffee and a pack of biscuits rather than a random selection of food would be better and more of what is expected from a holiday cottage.
We are so glad your enjoyed your stay at Birchcroft Hideaway and would love to welcome you back in the future. The location is lovely and we work really hard to keep the large grounds in good order in this fantastic woodland setting. This is great time of year in the gardens as spring is well and truly here!
The fact we are a woodland hideaway does present us with some occasional issues with insects etc but hopefully the wildlife in the garden makes up for this. The playhouse is located in the heart of the woodland front garden which provides a lovely location for children to explore the gardens. We have arranged for a better checking of this facility in the future.
Needless to say the property is regularly deep cleaned and we are sorry this wasn't up to your expectation. We have made the cleaning contractors aware and they have just done an additional deep clean just to make sure!
We welcome your feedback on the welcome pack and will take it on board to make some changes here and include more tea and coffee. If guests have any questions or problems during their stay, we would encourage them to use the great Sykes App to let us know and we can help you straight away.
The property has been in our family for many years and we are constantly making changes and updating it, whist trying to maintain its charm. We do hope to see you back again soon!

"Beautiful property."
Lovely garden. Hot tub had a few problems with milky water. Very irritating that the conservatory door was locked. We needed access to the hot tub without traipsing through the lounge with 2 small children. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment but not much room for food storage. It would have been helpful to have a coded lock to enable access to the wood through the bottom gate. It’s a dangerous walk around the road having to cross twice for pavements. Very good local pubs in walking distance. Good information provided and appreciated the accessibility as we had a mobility scooter user in our party. Very generous with the bath sheet sized towels. We had a fabulous holiday and would love to come back next year. Thank you.
We are glad you enjoyed your holiday at Birchcroft Hideaway. Its a shame you didn't use the wonderful Sykes App to contact us during your stay as we could have quickly resolved your issues with the keys. Its a great tool and we would encourage all guest to use this app as a way to let us know of any problems or questions during your stay, rather than when the stay is over and we don't have the opportunity to help you. The keys for both the the conservatory door and the gate were in the property and have since been checked just to make sure. We have now marked these better to make it easier for guests to find them, so thanks for the feedback. The Hot tub is fully cleaned and tested on each changeover so we are not sure what happened here but we will always sort anything guests make us aware of during the stay, straight away.
The accessible features of the property are one of the elements we are very proud of and we are glad you found these useful. The local Pub is great and very welcoming!
So glad you had a great stay and we would love to see you come and visit us again soon.

"We had a wonderful holiday at Birchcroft Hideaway, its situation is perfect, we had some lovely walks, enjoyed the gardens, walking to the pub (which was excellent) and easy access to the gorgeous beaches at Bournemouth (if you get up and leave early enough to avoid queuing in the traffic!"
!). The playhouse is such a welcome addition if you have children with you.
However, there is a big 'but', the sofas in the living room are no longer fit for purpose and need to be replaced, they are so worn that we actually moved the two seater wicker sofa from the conservatory to the living room, however, this created another problem as when the sofa was moved in the living room, the dirt and debris in the sofa fell onto the floor and underneath the sofa was a lot of rubbish, dirt and drink stains. There had definitely been no cleaning between the sofa cushions in a while as we found tissues, shells, pencils and my granddaughter found a large chunk of cheese under the floral electric chair in the living room, not ideal for a toddler. I actually got the mop out and cleaned the kitchen, dining room and the mess on the living room floor and advised the agent that I had used the single floor wipe that was there. Thankfully we had taken plenty of antibac and kitchen towel. I was surprised to read the instructions for the hot tub, where it said that you didn't need to do anything on your first use, as when we looked there were no testing strips in either pkt so we had no idea whether it could be used or not, a new supply was provided on the Thursday. however, it would be useful if whoever did the check prior to us arriving had supplied a new pkt, they would have realised they had used the last one. The plumber did attend to fix the leak in the main bathroom, so a new shower seal should be fitted. We were unable to close the velux window in the double bedroom upstairs as there is no handle at the bottom to pull on (like there is in the twin room next door). Birchcroft is a fabulous home but it is in need of a really good clean and some TLC.
We are glad you enjoyed your holiday at Birchcroft and have taken on onboard your comments. The house has just been closed for two weeks for a complete redecorate and maintenance period, its looking fab and the decor has been updated. The new sofas have arrived and are very comfy! All the cleaning comments have been strongly raised with the cleaning company.
Along with a full refurb of the lounge and new larger TV, the house has been bought up to date, while keeping the woodland hideaway vibe. Having completed our 1st season with Sykes we have taken onboard customer feedback, good and bad, Birchcroft is now on top form, and the garden has its beautiful autumn colours. Its a wonderfully peaceful place and we look forward to welcoming guests again.

"The location of the property is great, close enough to travel to Poole and Bournemouth."
The grounds are beautiful, set in a lovely garden, lots of trees and really private. The outside playhouse was brilliant for our 3 year old. Hot tub was a nice treat too. It was such a shame that the cleanliness was not up to scratch. Dirty plates in the cupboard and cobwebs absolutely everywhere. The hot water is extremely hot, to the point where it could have easily scolded our little boy.
Hello
We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and the location/ grounds at Birchcroft. Its a great time of year for the garden! The Hot tub is always popular and the playhouse is a big hit.
We are so sorry you had an issue with the hot water, had we been made aware during your stay we would have resolved it straight away. It has now been resolved, one of our guests had turned up the hot water temperature thermostat very high. So sorry you had a problem but we simply didn't know this had happened.
We are sorry you felt the cleaning wasn't up to the standard expected, we have very much taken this feedback on board and have raised the issue for action with the cleaning company. So sorry you had an issue with this.
Birchcroft is a very special woodland hideaway and we do hope you visit with us again

"We had a lovely relaxing stay."
The hot tub is a lovely feature.
So nice to sit and relax in the garden watching the birds and squirrels etc.
Great location and lovely place to stay the only thing we could recommend to make it even more comfortable is if the living room furniture could do with updating as the sofas sink down too low.

We enjoyed the hot tub just a small suggestion, it would be great if there is a small space to change outside so we don't have to walk in to the house with wet clothes.
Overall we really enjoyed it.
Thanks to the owner for letting it out last minute as our booking got cancelled last minute.
