Duntish is a small rural community situated on the B3143 which leads from Dorchester to Sturminster Newton and is adjacent to the attractive village of Buckland Newton. The village, through which the Hardy Trail and the Wessex Ridgeway run, is located at the head of the quaintly named Piddle Valley in the glorious West Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A visit to nearby ancient Cerne Abbas is not to be missed, with its instantly recognisable chalk giant and numerous tea rooms and selection of inns serving real ales and good food. Alternatively, travel south to the memorable Dorset Jurassic Coast, now designated a World Heritage Site, where many sandy beaches including Weymouth provide visitors with great facilities for all kinds of water sports or explore fascinating Sherborne or Thomas Hardy’s Dorchester, both a short drive away.
