Thatch Cottage is a traditional chocolate-box, thatched cottage with beautiful large gardens, tucked off the road with spectacular countryside views.

Enter through the front door into the sitting room, where you can look forward to snuggling up on the sofa and getting lost within a good book, whilst the open crackles in the background.

A traditional kitchen with dining area set off with a tiled floor comes complete with everything you could possibly need to create a delicious meal, which can be enjoyed within the separate dining room.

There is a spacious conservatory with far-reaching views across the meadows, with two sofas and a TV, offering an alternative space for the family to relax.

As the evening draws to a close, look forward to catching your rest within one the three well-presented bedrooms, each boasting plush furnishings and plenty of storage space.

The ground-floor double bedroom has wonderful countryside views, chairs and table, perfect for additional family members wanting additional space to relax.

Thatch Cottage accepts two small or one medium well-behaved dogs, so you can bring your pets on holiday with you and enjoy long country walks with them.

The nearby village of Buckland Newton is well-served by a small local village shop and the Gaggle of Geese pub, where both children and dogs are very welcome.

Alternatively, a scenic drive will take you north to the ancient market town of Sherborne with its wide range of independent shops, historic buildings, cultural events and festivals.

Travel 10.7 miles south and this will take you to the ancient roman town of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset.

Dorchester has some of the country’s best-preserved Roman remains, a beautiful river walk and a good selection of tearooms and coffee shops for you to watch the world go by.

Further afield you have Weymouth with its perfect sandy beach, promising to be a great family day out, whether you are lazing on the sands or walking the sublime coastline.

The West Dorset village of Buckland Newton, and its seven surrounding hamlets including Brockhampton, is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Blackmore Vale, and at the head of the quaintly named Piddle Valley. The village is 12 miles south of historic Sherborne and 12 miles north of Thomas Hardy's Dorchester. Locally there are lovely scenic walks to be had, while a visit to nearby ancient Cerne Abbas is not to be missed, with its instantly recognisable chalk giant and numerous tea rooms and inns serving real ales and good food. Alternatively, travel south to the memorable Dorset Jurassic Coast, now a designated World Heritage Site, where many sandy beaches await you and provide visitors with great facilities for all kinds of water sports. Weymouth offers golden sandy beaches and a bustling harbour from which you can take a day trip to the Channel Islands. A short drive from here takes you to Portland Harbour and the rugged “Isle” of Portland, which is linked to Weymouth by dramatic Chesil Beach.
