  • "It's a fantastic location, but the property needs attention."

One shower didn't work at all and we had to buy drain unblocker for the other 2. It wasn't very clean and pots had to be scrubbed. The instructions for gaining access were unclear and there were no instructions re rubbish/recycling etc. The towels weren't very nice and generally, I felt there wasn't much effort to make it a place to stay that I would book again, which is a shame as I really loved Swanage.

Hi Jennifer, I’m sorry you weren’t entirely happy with your stay at Dizzy Heights. I send a welcome pack out well in advance and if there was anything unclear on there if you’d just reached out I’d have been happy to clarify anything. The arrival instructions state we have a parking space at the rear of the property but it’s often easier to park at the front to unload. “However access has to be via the rear of the property as this is where the key box is located.” The beauty of our house is its distinctive colour making it easy to find on both Park Rd (the front) or Grovesnor Rd (the rear) but I’ll revisit the instructions to make sure there’s no ambiguity going forward. You contacted us on Sunday evening regarding a annoying beep from a faulty smoke detector. We promptly dispatched a representative to fix the problem Monday morning, he was already on his way, so a chargeable call-out, before you contacted us to say not to worry as you’d discovered it was not in fact the smoke detector but it was in fact the dishwasher that had finished its cycle. We do replace all batteries at the beginning of a season on our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as form of preventative maintenance and to help avoid such issues. I like to think I’m fairly proactive and after the initial two contacts I’m surprised you didn’t contact me regarding the shower as we would have sent someone out immediately. I had an electrician visit the property today he tested all 3 electric showers. They are all in good working order, however if you don’t turn on the electrical isolation switch, outside the bathroom, they won’t work. I’ve addressed the issues of the blocked drains and scheduled this in as regular maintenance with my team. I’m sorry you didn’t like the towels it’s the first negative feedback we’ve had about them. We invested in luxury towels to make sure people were happy with them. I’ll speak to the cleaning crew and make sure they are of good standard or whether they need replacing. I’ve also added some checklist items on the cleaning schedule to ensure the pans are checked and clean prior to each rental. I’m sorry there’s was some confusion regarding the bins, thanks for bringing that to our attention, I’ve updated the welcome pack to reflect this and ordered a new glass bin as our last one seems to have blown away in storms we had earlier this year. Thank you for your feedback. Regards Robin Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our second visit to the pleasantly idiosyncratic Dizzy Heights 22nd January."

Pleased to note a much more comfortable top bedroom; and the secured wardrobe in a double bunk room. However, the holiday was marred by the erratic and uncontrollable radiators, and a broken sitting area light. A plumber arrived to replace the radiator valves part way through the week, and an electrician came and fixed the light switch. As an advisory, the lock on the front door functions, but is loose. The back gate is a bit of a pain! Sweet wrappers left in drawers and crumbs in kitchen. As before, we loved the generous supply of kitchen equipment, games, and a Bluetooth speaker! Thank you for the milk and wine!

We are glad you enjoyed your second stay and we are sorry about the problems you had with the radiators. We’ve now replaced all the valves and thermostats on the radiators and flushed the entire system so hopefully this won’t be a problem again. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a lovely New Year in this well situated town house in Swanage."

It is a good size for a large family booking and it served us well in that regard. It was largely comfortable and warmed up quickly and efficiently. It was equipped with everything we needed and having four bathrooms was a real plus especially as our party was made up of three families. The late check in (5pm) is a pain as the day is gone and by the time you unpack it is evening but there were no serious issues of concern. A couple of minor points are that a couple of high ceiling light, including the living room, had dud bulbs, making lighting an issue (a lamp in the living room would have made it cosier) and one of the showers (room with a double bunk) only dribbled water. However, we enjoyed a nice stay overall and recommend the house for a large group like ours. Thank you

Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. The bulbs have been replaced and as per your suggestion we’ve added an additional lamp to the lounge. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Hi, we really enjoyed our stay at dizzy heights."

The house is genuinely lovely, well furnished and comfortable. The only problem was in a lack 9f washing/cleaning products. No washing up sponges, no cleaning cloths no teatowels. Made it very dofficukt to clean up after ourselves. In the end one friend donated a tee shirt so we could wipe the tables and surfaces. Other than that we had a great stay. Would come back again.

Hi there, thanks for the response. Glad you enjoyed you stay. There really should have been a dish cloth and tea towels I’m sorry. I Will speak to the management company and make sure this doesn’t happen again. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week long stay at Dizzy Heights because of the location and the space of the property."

The only thing we would highlight, so future holiday makers are aware, is that in some instances the property is hugely under sold - for example; not all of the facilities are listed, including the fact that the property has both a front and back yard that gets sunshine (even though they are only small they are still usable spaces) but then on the flip side the check in and out times are a bit early/late respectively and considering the check in/out times allows for 7 hours to clean the place, the cleaning could have been a lot better, for example the top bedroom had bird poo on the inside of the windowsill, not sure how that happened?! In summary however we had a lovely stay with no problems at all and the views / location really are fantastic.

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
