  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was well equipped and comfortable."

Lots of little things that made the stay home from home. Parking in front of the garage opposite made it easy as on street parking is tight. The owner did kindly contact me to make sure I new about it . The courtyard garden was delightful and green space is only a short walk away to take your dog out . We most certainly would stay again.

We were so pleased we you enjoyed your stay and so lovely to read your feedback…The cleaner commented on how clean and tidy you left the cottage. All the Best Sue and David Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, small issues with how to work the oven, which we resolved."

Cleaning products should be left to keep with the standards that you wish the property to be kept.Eg Toilet, bleach, cleaner mop and bucket, the hoover needs filters changed and as stated clean oven after use Provide a cleaner, we don't travel with all these cleaning products, but respect our own and other people's properties. Mr, Mrs R Snipp

Thank you for your very valuable feedback, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at our property, Alpen Rose Cottage. We apologise that you were unable to locate the instructions for the oven, and the cleaning products which are to be found under the kitchen sink, you will also find scourers, cloths, sponges etc kept alongside. We only ask that guests clean any spills in the oven as the cleaners unfortunately do not have time to strip out the oven on each changeover. We pride ourselves on ensuring that all our visitors enjoy their stay, and would encourage all our guests to make us aware of anything we can do to help, or provide during their stay to enable us to immediately assist. • "Alpen Rose Cottage is beautiful."

Very impressed as soon as we walked through the door. Very clean and tidy. Well furnished woth lots of Portland history. The walled garden was in full bloom and smelt lovely. Clearly takes someone lots of time to maintain. The cottage came fully equipped including towels, sky TV and a full kitchen (minus food) There is a large Tesco just around the corner as well as plenty of fast food and pubs within walking distance. Lots of dog walks and places to explore and investigate. We visited Church Ope Cove, Portland Museum, Rufus Castle, snorkelled and attempted paddle boarding at Lulworth Cove, fossil hunting on Charnmouth beach, sandcastles on Weymouth Beach, Corfe Castle, Portland Bill, Portland Castle and Portland Marina. Can't recommend Alpen Rose Cottage Portland highly enough as a place to stay.

  • "Great cottage, with everything and more you need for a great stay, parking at the back was a bit tight for our medium size car, so we parked after the first day outside the middle garage opposite, although during the day you could park outside the cottage when people are at work."

So all in all a lovely week in a lovely cottage. The very local fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway are great, but we went to miss Piggies Pantry to get some cakes, and for 2 doughnuts and a small sausage roll, came to £6 ! And the Lobster Pot down on the Bill charges £9 for 2 coffees and a small beer taken outside, so just be wary, otherwise a great cottage and area to stay in.

  • "This is one of the best appointed cottages we've ever stayed in."

Comfy beds and everything in first class condition. The courtyard garden is very pretty . There's lots to do on Portland and the cottage is in a village minutes, 10 minutes walk to the South west coastal.path, a short drive to Chesil beach and 20 minutes ( approx) from Weymouth. We had a great 6 days stay. Thank you.

  • "Alpen Rose was every bit as nice as the pictures shown, homely, clean, welcoming and comfortable."

Everything you could want was catered for. There is a lovely little walled garden you come through to enter the back of the house. The cottage is in a perfect location to explore Portland, which itself was a revelation to us, not having been there before. The view from the top of the isle over Chesil Beach at sunset was simply breathtaking, quite literally! We were lucky enough to get quite a bit of sunshine despite bad weather reports and the view over Chesil Beach in the sunshine was magical too. The cottage is only about 7 or 8 minutes away from the Portland Bill lighthouse and though we knew we wouldn't yet be allowed to climb it because of Covid, we decided to visit the spot anyway. We sat on massive rocks watching (and listening) to huge white crested breakers crashing onto the rocks below. We never expected that, and the experience was mesmerising. Because we stayed the week before lockdown was due to ease on May 17th no indoor hospitality or museums etc. were open, however there seemed to be no shortage of cafes. little shops and restaurants to visit on Portland from the 17th. There is a supermarket just 5 minutes drive from the cottage where you can stock up on supplies, and a wonderful little fish and chip shop just 3 minutes walk away which I can highly recommend. The beach at Weymouth was stunning, and we loved walking the length of it, with the tide coming in and beautiful white waves lapping the beach from an aquamarine sea. We feel very fortunate to have found Alpen Rose on Portland and cannot wait to go back again.

  • "The house was lovely and had everything you need."

I did find the Windows tricky but it wasn't a big problem and some of the duvets were a bit heavy. These are small problems that did not in any way take away from the fact that the house was really, really nice. There are also lovely neighbours. Thankyou very much. ps you should mention that you DO have Sky tv and also a downstairs WC that wasn't mentioned.
