  • "This was a wonderfully big and well designed barn."

The kitchen dinner was really spacious and very well equipped, we made lots of meals comfortably. The owner left us a little welcome hamper which was very thoughtful. The only criticism was the heating was not on when we arrived and wasn’t easy to get on. After calling the owner she came round to turn it on, you had to turn the radiators individually and left an electric heater. We all didn’t sleep well the first night as it was too cold, but was fine the other two. The only other thing was the amount of logs left for the fire was only enough for one night, we brought our own luckily!

The property was easy to find and very private, everything was reasonably clean except under the beds, a few speed bumps on the lane behind the barn would be welcome as some car drivers/ motorcyclists using the lane deem it to be a race track, producing an enormous amount of noise, we did have some difficulties with the shower taps, the nobs/handels were difficult to turn due to lime scale in the working parts of the thermostatic shower taps, but regardless of this, we had a wonderful time there, plenty of wildlife in and around the garden, good parking and a safe feeling all around,

  • "Lovely place that just needs a few tweaks to make it a luxury stay."

What's great is the space. Plenty of room both inside and out. The barn is centered around a relaxing courtyard style garden with bbq and seating area. We spent a rainy day relaxing at the barn and it's excellent for rewinding and spending quality, family time together All 3 double beds were used and we all found the mattresses uncomfortable. A good quality mattress topper on each one or replacing with new ones is needed to get a better night's sleep. The showers are fabulous, the water pressure is amazing, they just need a small shelf or something to hold your toiletries when using. (Glasses wearing member's of our group struggled as there was nowhere to put their glasses once in the shower. There was a little, musty, damp smell in the ensuite, not sure if the room just needs airing more? We had the windows on the night lock during our stay and opened the windows every day, and the smell wasn't as noticeable The living room is a cosy space, especially with the fire lit. With 3 sofas, there's plenty of space but we found the largest 3 seater uncomfortable and it would benefit from changing. The location is great, all the places we wanted to visit were easily accessible. We had an lovely week and would recommend the property for families or groups wanting to stay together

  • "This was a very roomy comfortable property supplying all our needs in a perfect location."

We felt wheelchair access was not as easy as we assumed it would be due to gravel outside and a step. My mother is very unsteady on her feet so wasn’t very confident. Inside the property was perfect for her though and the owner was very prompt to sort out a small issue with the hot water on arrival. All in all we would be happy to book again.

  • "Spacious cottage."

Well appointed and comfortable. Lovely private garden. Only way to walk to village is a quick dash along the lane and across the field. But there are lots of walks if you do that or drive a little bit first.

  • "We had a great holiday at Westbrook Farm, the property was great, the only issue we had was the path made of shingle around the outside, my grandson is in a wheelchair and it was difficult to push him in and out of the front door."

The kitchen was well equipped and everything was clean and tidy.

  • "Conveniently placed to many accessible tourist attractions/towns (Bath, Glastonbury, Wells, Cheddar)."

Pub in Evercreech well worth visiting. House spacious. However mattresses need replacing and house not to cleanliness standard you would expect. Also garden badly needs attention.

  • "The owners of Westbrook Barn very kindly accepted our extremely last minute booking, (literally the day before!"

), after our original accommodation booking was cancelled two days before we were due to travel. In the event we, (six adults), had a fab weekend. Westbrook Barn is roomy, very comfortable, and in a great location to explore everything the beautiful Somerset countryside has to offer. The unseasonably warm weather meant we we're able to make use of the large, completely private garden at the Barn. Some areas could have been a bit cleaner - namely in the kitchen - but general cleanliness was good. The Barn is well equipped, though champagne flutes would be a useful addition!! A perfect holiday home for adults and children alike - children would especially enjoy the animals on the small holding. Many thanks Tony and Judith - we had a great weekend!

  • "We found the barn really Stuffy at night?"

We couldn't work out how to off the heating systems? After lots of hunting we found the log store, perhaps some directions (like go through the double gates) as we weren't sure if that was private? We loved the barn! Would defo stay there again! Thanks

  • "Great holiday, cottage gave us everything we needed, if you could pass on our thanks to the owners but also mention that an Ash bucket would be useful as we couldnt clean the fire place/bbq as there was nowhere to put the ash."

  • "We were disappointed by the cleanliness of the property , generally it was not up to our expectations ."

There are a number of issues which we feel need to be addressed in particular ,- in the bathroom to the second bedroom the sink waste was broken and needed a replacement and the shower control was stiff and it was difficult to alter the temperature . There is an issue with ventilation in the bedrooms when the weather is hot and we suggest that it might be solved by a hook and eye fitting on the outside of the french doors so that some fresh air can get into the room .This is the same problem for all of the rooms at the property . In the first bedroom with the en-suite the mattress is uncomfortable and perhaps a replacement might be needed. In the third bedroom the window in the adjoining bathroom could not be opened and no key could be found ,there was no ventilation in the bedroom except by leaving the french doors open at night, not a good idea in a ground floor building, To sum up, the property cleanliness was just about adequate and in general the property and garden needed attention . However we did not allow this to spoil our holiday in such a lovely County .

  • "The barn was in a good location."

The facilities were as expected and parking was good. However, the cleanliness did not meet the high standard we are used to from Sykes accommodation, and far from Covid standards. Examples of this - Old cobwebs, poorly vacuumed carpets, unwashed bathroom tiles with cobwebs attached to walls. Grimy window blinds. The kettle was full of limescale and obviously never been cleaned. The whole decorative appearance was 'tired', and there was children's scribble on the walls, which had not been attempted to be cleaned off. The beds did not meet the usual comfort we have come to appreciate with Sykes properties. We do have photographic evidence if required.

  • "Although the kitchen area was very clean, there were quite a few cobwebs around the rest of the barn."

One issue was with road noise with the traffic going to the industrial estate that started at about 6 am every morning.

Great for a large family although we was a party of 4 an wasn't too big. Loved the underfloor heating throughout an also nice enclosed garden. Private gates to enter the barn made it safe for kids to run around without fear of the road. Hot tub would have made for a perfect stay but no luck although perfect spot in garden for it. Overall I reccomend 100%...

Lovely touch to receive a welcome basket with wine as well as the owners Judith and Tony giving us some lovely fresh eggs and apples part way through our stay. We will return!
