  • "Lovely quirky cottage located in a excellent location for exploring Dorset, we had a lovely welcome by Karen and Kevin who were very helpful and the welcome hamper is a lovely personnel touch."

It was equipped well for the weeks stay, only feedback is the location of the shower for privacy.

  • "A little home away from home."

It is so cute, cozy and really really cool. The layout and decoration is perfect, felt like a boutique hotel suite. The location is great, it's close to Christchurch and easy access to New Forest, really nice pubs with great food close too. The welcome baskets for us and the dog were such a nice touch and really tasty. Were made to feel very welcome and at home. Would highly recommend and will be going back.

  • "Great little cottage with sunny garden."

Better than we expected. Lots of lovely touches. Real home from home. Would prefer a washing machine to dishwasher (Seems a bit OTT for 3 holidaying people). Owners very helpful and friendly. Our son had his own personal disco in the shower! A real luxury. Thanks

  • "A very nice lodge, well set out,all the mod cons."

Close to town centre and the beach and harbour a few decent pubs in walking distance, with good food and atmosphere. Would most definitely stay here again,4/5 *

  • "The location and amenities were not advertised correctly- although the property inside was lovely, there was absolutely no privacy to the owners and we had to spend any time inside with the curtains closed, on an extremely busy road with constant loud road noise, advertised as walking 5 minute distance to 5 pubs, only 1 pub and that was a 15 minute walk."

Very disappointing location which should have been advertised correctly.

There is one small window 15 metres away but we have taken your comment on board and added further reed screening. The closest pub closed the week before you arrived but there are 3 others ( noted in the welcome pack ) within easy walking distance. The property has sealed window glazing but while it has been hot and windows are open there will be some road noise mostly at peak times. This has not been helped by major roadworks into Bournemouth creating, temporarily extra traffic on our road. Property Owner

Owners are lovely and extremely helpful and eager for us to have a great holiday. Not only a welcome hamper for us but one for our doggie too. Many, many thanks to Karen, Kevin, Molly and Alfie.

  • "The cottage was spotlessly clean, all the utensils and kitchen equipment were new and easy to use."

I have never been to such a generously equipped cottage, towels, toilet rolls, coffee, sugar, tea, cleaning products all in abundance. The owners are incredibly welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, which I always find leads to a more relaxed holiday. The location was wonderful for us, a choice of great walks on the doorstep and a choice of great places to visit short car rides away. We will definitely be returning.

Great little garden for the dog and the location was great for us.

  • "The little cottage was lovely - however, it is completely over looked by the owners at all times as its actually in their garden so really not very private."

We are grown ups - it felt abit like being on holiday with your parents.

The properties sit side by side 15 metres apart. We only started two weeks ago and decided on a trellis, for plants to grow, rather than a boring fence between them and have since put up a screen. All guests have complete privacy and are only ‘over looked’ by a kitchen window and can have as much peace and quiet as they wish. We have a 10 year old and that is the full extent of our parenting LOL Property Owner

The property

Old Beam Lodge provides the perfect retreat to explore the scenery of the New Forest or for finding your favourite beach on the south coast.

This charming lodge takes it name from the three hundred year old beams which were transferred from the owners 16th century thatched cottage next door and used to restore this delightful property.

The owners have gone to great lengths to mix period charm and character with some luxury stylish touches.

The entrance leads you through to a pretty, comfortable sitting room, including glass doors which open out to an enclosed private patio, where you can enjoy your morning coffee.

The sofa converts into a bed, giving options for those holidaying with children.

There is a separate double bedroom which is light and airy, and a shower room which boasts a steam power shower and a separate tiled cloakroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob and dishwasher.

In the pretty country village of Burton, five excellent pubs are just a five minute walk away, If you enjoy walking then close by is the beautiful River Avon, this stretch is called the “The Royalty” boasting top class fishing, if you fancy having a go at angling then the owner can arrange tackle and permits for you.

Or just enjoy the scenery and watch the swans gilding past.

A day at the beach is just a five minute drive away, start at Hengistbury Head which opens onto seven miles of golden sands leading right down to the glamorous Sandbanks.

Bournemouth is definitely worth a visit, or check out historic Christchurch and its famous priory.

Closer to home is the owl sanctuary where you can try your hand at falconry.

The stunning New Forest with its wild ponies and donkeys is just a few miles, and Burley the jewel in the New Forest Crown is only a short distance by car.

A holiday experience to remember.
