  • "The property was filthy and it has not been cleaned properly for a while."

There was grime in the kitchen and bathrooms, debris from previous occupants. The location is great with easy access to amenities. We walked on the Rodwell Trail every day. Parking was not an issue at all.

  • "We had a lovely stay at The Lookout."

The views are amazing. The garden was great for the dog. I was worried about parking but it was fine. The house was very near to the Rodwell Trail which we walked to Weymouth on. There are lots of small beaches nearby where we could walk the dog. Would definitely stay here again but will not be booking through Sykes.

  • "Beautiful property and views."

Very well kept and very clean. well stocked cupboards with crockery and glasses. My only criticism (and nothing the owner can do) is the high sided van parked outside day and night blocking some of the views.

Thank you for your review we have asked the neighbour if they would kindly consider swopping the high sided van to the less dominant position in front of their house to another position and they have kindly done so . Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property."

The view of the harbor is wonderful and relaxing and the location is very quiet. Everything is well cared for and clean. I spent much of the time working remotely on video conferencing calls and the wifi was up to the task. I would certainly recommend the house to anyone who is looking for accommodation in the area.

Thank you it was lovely to meet you. We hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Holiday home was in a superb location, close to beach."

Property was was in a clean condition and there was everything you needed. Large back garden with lovely fruit trees , and with seating area. Amazing views across Portland at the front , especially from the loft conversion bedroom. Beds were comfortable and clean. Lovely area of Weymouth, friendly neighbour. Me and my family have being staying in Weymouth over the last ten years and you can’t fault anything . Great weather and location. The only thing I can fault was the living room was on the small side, and TV could of being larger. There is 2 flights of stairs , so keep in mind if you have mobility problems . There was TV’s in every bedroom , front bedroom it couldn’t be tuned . This property has a feel of home from home . If you have young children like me, there was a cabinet in living room with games/puzzles , and storybooks , which was a lovely touch. Overall I would recommend this holiday home.

Superb house in ideal location very peaceful great view out to sea watching the boats close to all attractions the only problem we had was the WiFi it was too weak

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We do have the strongest wifi service possible for this area I am sorry it did not meet your expectations. Climatic conditions and mast maintenance can affect the signal on rare occasions, but I can honestly say our guests have not experienced this problem before. Property Owner

  • "The best thing about this cottage is the wonderful views of huge cruise ships docking in the harbour."

Road parking was always straightforward. The cottage isn't big for 6 especially for adults. the living areas are a bit small particularly the dining room. The garden is splendid (loved by the dog) and outdoor dining is excellent. The kitchen is very well equipped. Good storage. The worst thing was the living room sofas which were very uncomfortable and the wet room with an inadequate or blocked drain which then leaked water into the corridor. Clearer instructions on use of WiFi and heating would be helpful.

  • "Living room was not big enough for a family of 6 and settees were very small and uncomfortable."

Found the mats on the floor very dangerous, my mom tripped a couple of times on them .(they were everywhere!) The garden had dog poo in it still from the previous people and the garden furniture was too rusty to sit on .All the other garden benches needed a good wipe down before you could sit on them. We did plan on having nights in the garden and bbqs but wasn't possible.,the whole garden was very dirty and uninviting. Our TV in bedroom didn't work so we called the owner the first night and she was very quick to come over to fix it (uninvited and really late)but was made to feel like we had broke it ! She actually called the previous people up to ask them if they'd broke it too !! Wouldn't come back sorry .

  • "The house is very well equipped and everything was very comfortable."

One thing was a potato peeler but otherwise an amazingly well equipped kitchen. The only negative was the owner calling us the day after asking why we had disconnected the aerial for the TV in the attic which we had not done and she did not believe us. :( Also there was no signage about the bins being put out so we did not do it. The instructions were in the folder apparently but we did not look in the folder. A sign on the folder saying that there are instructions on there would be helpful.

  • "Nice house in a great location with everything needed for a comfortable break."

However the 3 seater sofa was extremely uncomfortable with no padding and you sunk into the frame. We also had to phone and ask for the grass to be cut as it was extremely long and we unable to use the garden and we were told the gardener had been delayed by a week. This was addressed upon request allowing us to enjoy the outside space.

  • "Good directions and easy to use lockbox which was great for our late arrival."

The house was generally clean with a few marks on paint and carpets. It is quite small. There were 4 of us staying here plus a dog and that felt plenty but our children are teens so it would be much better with smaller children. The view and location are great. We had some lovely walks straight onto the Rodwell Trail. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery. A few strange noises when we used the washing machine but it all came out clean. Plenty of hot water. There are a few minor areas that need some attention - the wet room door may need a better seal on it as it did come under it one time, one of the knobs on the cooker top was broken and it is very hot on the top floor and that was when the weather was not that warm. We didn't see a fan up there but then we didn't look in all of the cupboards so there may be one. Comfortable beds and we all slept well. Overall we had a nice break here.

Property is excellent and in very good condition and very well equipped. We had everything we could have needed for our stay. Problem with brand new boiler was resolved very quickly by the owner. • "The description of the house is accurate as there a great views across the bay to Portland."

It was all very clean and comfortable. The long back garden is all enclosed so the dog could potter around without any fear that he could escape. There is a small bay about 5 minutes walk away where we took our elderly dog every evening for a paddle. The location is good for visiting a variety of places in the area or walking on Chesil Beach. It would have been helpful to have instruction booklets for the washing machine, the oven and the heating. We chose to sleep in the attic room which is very attractive and has lovely views over the bay, however we moved to the twin room, as we had it spare, after a couple of nights as the bed was uncomfortable. It slopes from the head to the foot as there appears to be something wrong with the base. We would certainly recommend this house and the location to others.

  • "On arrival to the house we followed the instructions to sanitize our hands, there was a sanitizer provided inside the front door but it did not work so we used our own."

We then read the instruction book to make sure we understood the requirements. We then purchased food and looked to unpack, it was then quite late in the day and wanted to get some dinner and children to bed. We did not have any hot water and no instructions on how to use the hot water so had to call the owner to see what was needed, the lady who answered was not at first helpful to assist but we did as she instructed and thanked her for her time and then carried on sorting our unpacking and dinner. An hour later the lady arrived at the door to assist she came with another person who had google'd how to set the timer for the hot water and heating, the fact it was google'd showed that it was not something already documented which was a shame. Whilst the lady was there we pointed out the hand sanitizer did not work and the back inside door did not lock she viewed both and then asked for a window/door man to come the next day. The house was very nice, good location, clean lots of facilities and an exceptional amount of tea/coffee milk, biscuits supplied the only thing letting it down are instructions on how to use things.

  • "A tidy little house in a neat location between Weymouth and Portland, with a cracking view of harbour."

corner shop is 5min walk as is a little sandy bay that could easily be overlooked and is often less busy than Weymouth. (follow cycle path along old railway until A354). at first glance the street might raise an eyebrow (not a country cottage) but dont be put off, it serves purpose of a base for exploring the area and locals are friendly- we helped an elderly neighbour with her bin.
