The house is clean, beds are very comfortable and just the perfect location for a family get away. The owners are very friendly and accessible. We love exploring Portland and walking the Rodwell Trail into Weymouth (and back again). We will definitely look at coming back again next year.

The kitchen is well equipped and we made a few meals whilst staying there. Helpful to have the dishwasher and washing machine. Handy to have the parking space. About half an hour walk to Weymouth along the SWC path. Nice cove close to the property for swimming. Clean and comfortable property.

  • "Lovely property with sea views from the master bedroom."

The main problem are the noisy stairs & also the same with the adjoining properties. Smallmouth beach isn't safe for a dog off the lead it is very close to the busy Portland Road . Wyke Regis is a very built up area the local traffic is busy. The better beach is at Sandsfoot about 1 mile away. The south west coastal path is closed due to a land slide.

95% near perfect 2 minor points being cob-webs above the Fridge Freezer and the oven tray had not been cleaned. We had a lovely break and would certainly return to the property. Very nice indeed.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Tidal Drift."

The house was exceptional. Very clean, bright and airy and had all you needed. There was a wonderful feel to the property, it was very homely and we felt quite sad to leave it. It was even better than in the pictures. The view of the sea from the double bedroom is better than shown in the information and a great viewing point for the sunrise in the morning. It's a great place to stay and visit other places from and we loved the cycle tracks, great walks and swimming on your doorstep. The only thing we were disappointed with was the lack of recycling? There were no provisions made for that? We would definitely book again 100%

  • "Our stay was lovely."

Beautiful clean house and very comfortable. Just two small points to mention. The kettle needs de-scaling as the water poured from it leaves an unpleasant look to your tea. We used a saucepan during our stay. And the only other small thing is that there is no blind at the bathroom window. Apart from that beautiful well equipped house.

  • "We really loved Tidal Drift and found it to be a genuine home-from-home!"

We had one or two ideas we wanted to share with you which we hope might make it even better: As a family we are a bit driven by time (even on holiday!) and so wondered if the addition of a kitchen clock might help others of a like mind; The kitchen is extremely well-equipped with excellent pans and knives and we were comfortably able to prepare ourselves any kind of meal that we wanted (not always true of holiday properties!). We did however feel the lack of kitchen tongs, and also (in the city of fish) a fish-slice. We actually bought a fish-slice, and hopefully left it for the house; We thought it might be a lovely addition to provide a guest book for comments. This is a great way for families to extol the virtues of the property to you (of course!) but also to leave advice and experiences for subsequent guests ("don't miss fireworks on a Monday", "the Crab House is gorgeous!", etc.); Finally, we generated (ahem) a fair quantity of bottles over our two weeks and were a bit disappointed that we couldn't recycle them. We understand that you have simplified the often-complex local rules on how to process rubbish, but would it be possible to include a glass recycling box in addition to the black bin?

Thank you so much for your review, we are so delighted that you had such a lovely holiday at Tidal Drift. Guest feedback is always very valuable, and we have noted all your suggestions. Unfortunately Dorset Council process the refuse from Tidal Drift, and do not currently offer recycling with the service they provide for our property. Property Owner

About the location

WYKE REGIS

Weymouth 2 miles; Dorchester 9 miles.

Wyke Regis is a village on the south western side of Weymouth that sits on the northern edges of Portland Harbour and reaches as far as the back of Chesil beach and The Fleet, just two miles from the centre of Weymouth. There are local shops, cafés and restaurants including the famous Crab House café, with it’s own oyster beds on the doorstep. The National Sailing School, an Olympic legacy, offers a wide variety of water sports and is just two miles away on the edge of Portland Harbour. The Fleet Lagoon that runs between Wyke Regis and Chesil beach is an important area for wildlife and there are many species of birds to be seen in the area, whilst Chesil beach is also a renowned spot for fishing. The Fleet is probably most famous for being the testing ground for Barnes Wallis’s bouncing bomb, immortalised in the film the Dam Busters. Wyke Regis is the perfect location from which to explore many of Dorset’s most iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast.
