  • "The View definitely hits top marks for the “View”."

.it is stunning with the large window giving you a full view down the awesome Chesil beach and of course perfect sea views. The property is very comfortable and warm and provides for everyone’s needs, very handy having two bathrooms. The house was something to look forward to returning to on a full day out. Parking is okay, nice to have a parking space with the property, the road to the house is small and turning is difficult, but as long as you are aware of this, it will not detract from your stay. Definitely a return to property for us, we loved it.

  • "Great cottage with great views across Chesil Beach and is great to watch the sun go down."

The cottage had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Neighbours (permanent residents) are very friendly (we were offered fish by one from their early morning catch). There were 6 of us and we were very comfortable. Great little seating area at thr front near the parking where some of us sat on a warm evening watching the sun set. Good location on the island and in walking distance to the beach, local pubs (The Cove Inn was great), coop, tea rooms and fish and chips. Nearby ion the island s also the Olympic rings, quarry statues with the Bill, Castle and other beaches (we visited Church Ope beach) Definitely would recommend and stay again. A few tips: The street looks like it is marked on the street floor as one way, it isn't but is tight. There may be cars parked and therefore driving on the kerb is essential. There is space for 2 small cars. One in the parking area, one directly in front of it. When exiting the property, don't step straight out, look first (as there may be cars passing on the small pavement). The road itself is the start of the coastal walk so there may be a few walkers passing by during the day/evening.

The view was fantastic watching the stormy sea from the large lounge window. The lounge was very comfortable to relax in. The property is in a good position for exploration of Portland and the surrounding mainland. We had a wonderful week.

  • "Great location, amazing views."

The house was well equipped (excluding dishwasher) and spotless. Parking is tight - we parked one car and left the other in the car park by the front. The little garden out the front was a nice surprise.

  • "The cottage was so cosy with fantastic facilities."

It was very clean with a modern spacious feel. The view over Chesil Beach is fabulous, and you can walk down to the beach in minutes. Good access to Weymouth and the surrounding area. Parking is a little difficult, tight lane, but you are made aware of this, but quite sufficient for one car. We had a lovely few days; and enjoyed watching the view change over the evening, with a couple of spectacular sunsets. Thank you.

  • "One of the blinds in the lounge wasnt working which wasnt very good."

They have had months to get this fixed. Found the double bed very uncomfortable. Parking not great. If anyone takes more than one car no idea where they would park a second car. Quite tricky to get in and out, meant mouting the kerb which has damaged one of my tyres. Great location.

  • "We had a wonderful week on the Isle of Portland and The View really lived up to its name with an amazing view of Chesil Beach which we never tired of."

The accommodation is lovely very bright and modern. In a perfect location for seeing beautiful Dorset. Would highly recommend The View and we would definitely stay here again. The only downside we could see would be if you came in two cars as there is only a parking space for one car.

View from lounge was amazing and beautiful sunsets. Property was stylish and well equipped. Plenty of room as there were only four of us. Close to beach, pub and coastal path. Thoroughly recommend the Indian restaurant which was just round the corner. We had a great week and it was a very welcome break.

  • "The house is very well described on the website and is an excellent base to use to visit local."

Fabulous view from the elevated lounge, everything spotlessly clean. It’s a pity about the building which is going on in front of the house as I think this will significantly affect the view. The only issue I would mention though is the parking, a house for 6 but only parking for 1 vehicle and maybe a small one in front, we were in 3 cars so had to find parking in town which is very scarce and much sought after by everyone, wouldn’t stop me visiting again though, an excellent property. Thank you

  • "This is a very nice cottage with an amazing view."

The pebble beach at Chesil below is wonderful, and the sea clean. We enjoyed our walks in the area, and further afield Largely as described , but the parking is an issue. Cove Cottages is very narrow, and partly blocked by cars, it is very difficult to park anything other than a small vehicle, and low clearance vehicles are likely to be damaged by the pavements. Not having a dishwasher is a negative, We enjoyed using the binoculars. An nice touch. Whilst the cottage was generally clean the kitchen draws had food residue in them, as did one of the pans, and some of the pans and trays need to be replaced. Some of the shelves were also not clean. This is an issue in these current times, and we spent the first couple of hours following arrival cleaning. Some of the neighbours on the street made us very welcome which was lovely. Be aware, construction is happening immediately in front of the cottage, and the machines started at about 7.30, continuing intermittently all day. The bedrooms leak light, so eye masks advised for people who need dark to sleep In summary, lovely cottage, and we had a nice stay, and would b happy to return

  • "We loved our week at The View, thank you."

Everything was straight forward. A confirmed booking from the start. Automatic deposit and final payment system. Communication excellent. The house was exactly as expected. Two roomy twins downstairs for all the teenagers, with their own bathroom. A cute courtyard garden out back for scooters/sailing gear etc. A very handy utility room. Could maybe do with an inside rail for hanging things indoors such as wetsuits, lifejackets etc that need to be on hangers not a clothes horse. Love the no shoes policy. Found the freezer hidden in the cupboard, which was handy. Lounge and view as beautiful as the photos. Didnt watch TV much as we all just sat staring out of the window whenever inside. Binoculars a nice touch. Whilst the kitchen was really well equipped, I found the saucepans just one size too small for 6.There was only a sieve, not a strainer. And only 5 chairs. But that was the only thing I felt could be improved on for us personally as we were at full capacity for a week long sailing event. The View garden was really lovely. Wish we'd had more time to sit an watch the sunsets.Location is excellent for WPNSA. One thing worth mentioning, is the access to the house. We knew it would be narrow. We were in 3 cars through the week (2 family tag team supporting the kids sailing), a discovery, which barely fit in the circle to park, same with the Tiguan. There was no way you could park a second car across the front. Infact, as we pulled out of the lane, our Tiguan was at such an angle, it would slam the automatic parking brakes on every time we left the lane. The third car was an Audi S5 with a low front bumper, which would in no way cope with the angle where the lane meets the main road going in or out, so we we had to leave it parked elsewhere all week. So this wasnt a huge issue for us , just a niggle we got used to as we had other vehicles we could ferry all the kit up with. But worth mentioning I thought. We would definatly stay again and have recommended the house and Sykes many times already as we know people who had cancelled accomodation bookings booked through other internet rental companies, that had been booked months in advance.
