“Lovely cottage, very clean and had everything we needed.”

Weather was awful but still a lovely place to stay as we had the conservatory to sit in. Hosts were very helpful and friendly even though we did not meet in person, due to present circumstances, and we could contact them easily

The property

Situated in the depth of the countryside, 10 miles from Yeovil and 11 miles from Dorchester, is this lovely bungalow.

A truly peaceful retreat, this delightful bungalow, with stunning views from every window, benefits from being in such an idyllic location while still being close to the amenities of two fabulous Dorset towns of Sherborne and Dorchester.

Put your feet up in the sitting room as you sink into the reclining leather sofa and armchairs, perhaps using the Smart TV to catch up on your favourite shows.

The spacious well-equipped kitchen is ideal for packaging a picnic for exploring the rolling hills or even catering your own delicious evening meals that can be enjoyed at the dining table.

The property is completed by two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a king-size and a double bed which are serviced by the gleaming shower room.

Take advantage of the beautiful conservatory where you can enjoy great views of Dorset whilst reclining in the leather chairs.

Spend a moment or two outside, where a spot of alfresco dining can be enjoyed as the BBQ sizzles in the background and you soak up the sunshine.

If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil hideaway, the wonderful towns of Dorchester and Sherborne are both approximately a thirty minute drive away, and host a wealth of amenities, including numerous pubs and restaurants, historic buildings and plenty of interesting shops.

Slightly further afield, visit the picturesque harbour of Weymouth and West Bay, home to a selection of beaches, or visit the chocolate box hamlets of Abbotsbury and Osmington Mills for a slice of quintessential village life.

Childerley is the perfect home to get away from it all and relax in the peaceful countryside, while still being close to some of the most popular Dorset locations.

About the location

Dorchester 10.7 miles; Yeovil 13.1 miles.

Set amidst the unique setting of the Dorset AONB is the picturesque village of Cattistock, resting between the towns of Dorchester and Yeovil. Enjoying a wonderful position in the upper reaches of the Frome Valley, this village houses The Fox & Hounds Inn, which has been recognised as one of the best pubs in Dorset, serving food, as well as the village holding a Post Office, a shop, a tea shop, a cricket club and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The village is famous for its annual event which has earnt its name as the “knob-throwing village”. This is a game where one hurls a Dorset Knob Biscuit as far as they can, allowing visitors from across the region to test their arm power and sample local culinary delights. As well as the magnitude of countryside walks and cycle routes that this part of the AONB has to offer, there are a number of attractions within the surrounding area to suit the needs of all ages and tastes. Brush up on the local history by discovering the Mapperton House and Gardens and the Beaminster Museum, or immerse yourself with the local wildlife by spending time at the Badger Watch Dorset centre. Cattistock is an idyllic village for exploring the delights of this wonderful countryside setting.
