  • "This holiday home was absolutely stunning."

It was so peaceful with beautiful views from the garden and a really pretty sight of thatched cottages at the front. The owner left a lovely welcome basket and milk, tea and coffee for our arrival. The big Christmas Tree covered in twinkly lights was such a delightful surprise. We really do look forward to returning and suggest that if anyone is considering this property .... book it now. Its fab!

Excellent location. Would stay again. Just a couple of niggles, a couple of bedside lamps in the main bedroom would be useful and we found the front door very difficult to open from the outside most of the time. Waste collection times would be useful.

  • "We were very disappointed with Sunny Croft."

Although the surfaces had been cleaned and wiped down there were cobwebs in the corners of each room of which some had spiders in them. It seemed as though there used to be carpets in the bedroom which had been taken up and the floorboards just left as there was old paint on them. The sofa in the front room seemed to be missing the back cushions as they just had scatter cushions on them whereas the chair had a back cushion. We asked for a new filter for the hot tub and a floater for the chlorine tablets. The chlorine tablets were just placed in the top of the filter so dissolved too quickly to last the week and the filter that was in the hot tub was very dirty and way past it's life span. There was a filter in a container in water by the hot tub that was better than the one in the tub but we had to clean it out with the hose. We were advised that there wasn't any new filters or any floater for the chlorine tablets. The owner did get 2 people to come round and replenish the chlorine tablets but they didn't seem to know how to maintain a hot tub as they were going to shock the water which would've meant that we wouldn't have been able to use it for 24 hours. Luckily a member of our party has their own hot tub so were able to let them know not to do this. The garden needs some maintenance especially at the front of the house. The bathroom has recently been renovated which is really nice but I'm not sure why they didn't knock the toilet wall through to the bathroom as the toilet is situated on it's own. This is the same for the fridge as it's not situated in the kitchen, it's in the larder. This property could be so much more if a bit of tlc was spent on it. We will definitely not be revisiting.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay Karen. I was saddened to hear that you have not experienced the stay you anticipated at Sunnycroft, as I take great personal pride in ensuring the property is presented well. The house has a very stringent cleaning schedule on each turnaround, and this does include a cobweb check, however I appreciate that you have fed back you found some cobwebs. I know we spoke during your stay regarding the hot tub. I consistently advised you that the hot tub had fresh water and a fresh filter for your stay, and when we visited you to top chemicals up the water was still clear and clean, so didn't need to be shocked (the person who visited just took shock in case needed, but it wasn't needed). I'm delighted you liked the new bathroom, the reason the toilet has not been incorporated into this room yet is due to drainage works needing to be undertaken to relocate the toilet, which are planned out of season (winter 2023). The fridge is located in a pantry currently, but longer term is to be relocated to the kitchen next door. The property was built in 1920 and has character and charm, which previous guests have enjoyed. the property is planned to have re-decoration in places for 2023. Thank you again for your feedback. The kitchen was well supplied with utensils, pans etc. Our daughters loved the hot tub. There were good walks in the immediate neighbourhood for our dogs, and we could shut them in the dining room at night and when we went out so that we didn't have to worry about them getting on a sofa whilst we were out! Since we were in the cottage between Christmas and New Year we very much appreciated the Christmas tree in the sitting room and the chocolates! We would visit again.

Only one jet worked on the hot tub and no lights, also one burner on the cooker didn’t work and couldn’t use the toaster as tripped the electric, had a lot of cobwebs and had to clean the leaves out of the outside drain to allow the shower to drain. There was a hoover brochure in information pack but no hoover could be found. But overall it was really homely and had a lovely stay in a great position and beautiful location, would come again .

The rooms were large, although there was a lack of a towel rail or toiletry shelf in the bathroom. It would have been helpful if the washing machine had been a dryer, too. Our main concern was that that the hot tub was leaking and had lost enough water to expose the heating element by Wednesday. On contacting the owner we were informed that she was aware of the leak and instructed us just to keep the tub topped up. I feel it is not really acceptable to advertise a property with a known fault in a facility.

The house is beautiful and comfortable and the garden was a lovely place to relax after a day exploring. My little furry friend especially loved the garden though there were some areas where she could of escaped so garden not fully secure though we were with her when she was outside anyway . Whilst using the amenities of sunny croft we found that the kettle was full of limescale so probably could of done with a descale . Had to boil a pan of water to make a brew . Also the little fridge freezer kept on freezing all our food so had to throw out food stuff so had to buy food on a daily basis for our meals so could probably do with an upgrade there . Also my main concern was that my dog and us kept getting bitten whilst there . I also found a flea in my brew . We were fine before we got there as I spray my own house and treat my dog accordingly and have no problems at home . So this definitely needs addressing . Probably due to having different dogs coming and going . So I'm now having to wash everything I took down there and re spray my own house just in case I brought them home with us .

  • "Accuracy of listing - garden wasn't entirely dog friendly as the chicken wire attached to the bottom of the main gate was fixed only along its top and side edges - the bottom of the wire could be pushed through, as our dog tried to do."

Had to place a piece of wood along the bottom of the gate to block this off for the duration of our visit. Cleanliness - generally ok but some utensils had food residue on them and there was a noticeable amount of black dog [?] hair under the main double bed [hoovered up by us on departure] Facilities - real problems with the hot water throughout the week. The boiler rarely fired up for that [although the central heating was ok] and getting hot water from the taps was a bit of a lottery. Showering was very difficult [as noted by a guest in 2018 per the visitors' book]. Pressure to the system was ok so suggests the boiler needs a service? The double bed could do with a tightening up! On a general note we were surprised there was no food waste recycling facility and no guidance on recycling generally [we had to look up on the Dorset Council website what the local recycling arrangements were]. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay. Loved the hot tub!

The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and had festive treats such as mince pies and bubbly, plus something for Molly, our Border Terrier. Thank you, a very nice touch. The bungalow is very well equipped, we had everything we needed to cook our Christmas dinner and beyond. It's warm, clean and comfortable and made an excellent base to spend Christmas week. We didn't venture far afield, spending the week relaxing and watching TV although we did get out and about locally enjoying the various footpath and bridleway walks in and around Broadmayne. It was good to know we could relax knowing our dog was safe to run free. The hot tub and garden made this property. A few days into our stay we had concern regarding the colour of water in the hot tub, we contacted the owner and she came immediately to resolve. Inside the property, well this was disappointing. On arrival all the windows had been opened, it soon became apparent why, the fusty smell was awful. Despite having the windows open daily the smell never went. The first thing we did when we arrived was clean... cobwebs high and low and more spiders than I care to remember. Overall the property needs some modernisation and at the very least a properly fitted loft hatch, and boarding to seal the internal cupboard and fireplace in the dining room.
