Directly from the cottage you can access a number of dog walks, cycling routes and historical sites nearby, including Old Wardour Castle, run by English Heritage, it was built in the 14th century and is a magnificent thing to behold set in the quiet Wiltshire countryside by a lake.
A five minute walk will take you to the windmill green and its fabulous views across the Blackmore Vale, or why not venture further afield to the old Saxon town of Shaftesbury which is steeped in history and is home the the the cobbled ‘Gold Hill’ where the Hovis adverts were filmed.
Stourhead House and Gardens run by the National Trust is also a must visit.
