  • "Melita, is an absolutely lovely there is everything you could possibly need, comfortable beds very well equipped kitchen, beautiful garden enclosed for dogs."

We had an excellent week there, weather could have been better but at this time of year to be expected. Just a little suggestion change the sofas in the lounge they are so uncomfortable and I know it’s been mentioned before but a smart TV would have been lovely.

Everything you could possibly need for a comfortable holiday stay. Fully enclosed rear garden for the dog to roam in, kids to play in. Plenty of board games and dvds to keep everyone entertained in the evenings. Dogs well catered gor with a dog bed, bowls, towel, dog shampoo all provided. Will definitely stay again if visiting Somerset in the future.

  • "Fantastic stay at such a lovely bungalow."

The bungalow is so well equipped and comfortable. On arrival a lovely welcome pack for us and 1 for the dogs too. Lovely touches with 2 dog beds ready in the front room for them. Also the dog cleaning kit and hose was a great idea and welcome after the walks. Great location to explore the area with plenty to do locally and a little further afield. The information books and leaflets at the bungalow had so many options we wished we had booked longer. A great place, a great stay would recommend to anyone and look forward to visiting again.

It is just off the main road but not to much of a problem. There is only 1 pub within walking distance and dogs are only allowed outside they have heaters but if you don't smoke probably not the best place.

From kitchen essentials through to guide books, games, toys for the children and even baby requirements including a high chair, dog leads, toys, a towel for wet dogs and even treat biscuits. Being elderly with only my son/carer I had no need of any of these but was really impressed by the provision for all their guests. The only downside, for me, was the steps with my limited mobility but my son looked after me very well and helped me in and out. I We would love to be able to stay there again in the future.

  • "A genuine home from home."

Everything there you could possibly need. Garden really secure for our dog and easy walk just over the road which was a relief. She also loved the ball and thrower and the hose! If we'd had children there were games and books to keep them occupied. The garden was great to sit in and relax. I managed to read a whole book from the bookshelf during the week too. Langporte great for dog walking by the river and lots of interesting dog friendly places nearby too. Only very tiny downsides the TV wasn't SMART and the toilet seat in the bathroom needs some attention.

We thank you for you positive feedback and am glad you enjoyed your time at Melita, with regard to the SMART TV, we have installed one previously, however we were getting calls from people who could not use it, so that is why we reverted back to a normal TV. The toilet seat is not the want for trying, this seems to be a fault with the design, we have replaced toilet seats a number of times and seem to get the same issue, we will try again. • "This bungalow is situated next to a busy main road, the traffic noise is very disturbing from 6."

30 am till late. This ruins the ability to enjoy a relaxing chilled out holiday, shame because the garden is a lovely feature. If you had indicated this in your description of the property we would not have booker it.

We thank you for your feedback, there may have been a diversion in place at the time, which meant there was more traffic than usual, as it is not normally as you have described it, however, the location of the bungalow does provide easy access to all the attractions around the local area and provides straight forward access to the M5, A303 and A358. • "The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to make Melita as homely as possible, it was like staying at a family home instead of a holiday let."

The weather was awful, rain every day, but the bungalow was warm & cosy to return to. We always take our own dog washing / drying things in case of bad weather but the owners has thoughtfully provided everything anyway. We chose the village as old friends live there, but it makes a good base for touring the area. There is a well stocked shop and albeit rather expensive pub within walking distance of the bungalow and a fish & chip van on Wednesday evenings which was superb. So, summing up, no reason not to go to Melita, suitable for all ages and dog.

Lots of dog walking nearby. Only downside was a fusty odour when we first arrived but I don't know if it had been unused for a week or two. However that is not a serious criticism.thoroughly enjoyed our week

Thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate this and yes, we have investigated the musty smell issue and found that there was a water leak under the hall floor, which we have now fixed and we have also replaced the carpet, which has cured the problem. Property Owner

  • "We rented the property for a three generation get together for Christmas and it fulfilled that criteria well."

Although the photographs show a somewhat dated bungalow what it did not show was this has clearly been, or still is, someone’s home with their possessions still in situ. Now some people may like that but I prefer to rent a more sterile property. On arrival the property was very cold and musty. A note had been left saying “ The heating should come on 3 times a day on a timer. One hour in the morning about 7am, one hour at lunchtime about 1pm, a couple of hours in the evening about 6pm.” There was an electric fire in the lounge but that was inadequate to heat such a large property. The first nights sleep was disturbed because the bedrooms were very cold with inadequate thin duvet. We had no choice but to override the timer or vacate the property as we had two young children in the party. On the plus side the owners had decorated the property with a Christmas tree and outside lights. There was plenty of hot water and they provided a welcome pack with mince pies and Christmas crackers for the children.

We thank you for your comments, however a little confused as you say you like a sterile environment rather than a home from home one, which is what we try and replicate and most people renting this property have enjoyed and welcomed, together with a spacious garden for the dog, so not really sure why you picked this one. Nether the less, we take note of the musty smell and will address that. Regarding the heating, we left a note to inform you of the times that the heating comes on and off, you are quite welcome to alter these settings to suit your living conditions. Alternatively why did you not contact us, we are only 15 to 20 minutes away and we would have come and sorted that out for you. If you required any extra blankets, there are plenty provided in the cupboards? Property Owner

  • "June 2022. Melita was all that we hoped it would be."

We live in a house so it was so lovely to have the 'bungalow experience' - no stairs! The bungalow is very spacious, extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and attention paid to detail. The garden is totally dog proof so no need to worry about your fur babies and there is the benefit of having a laundry room with a hosepipe outside the door for muddy paws. The location was great for visiting all the local areas, we even got as far as Minehead, Porlock, Dunster, Cheddar, Wells to name but a few. Went off the beaten track to places such as Mells and Winsford. Booking was very easy, we have never used Sykes before and their website was easy to navigate, payment simple and communication spot on. I would like to say a big thank you to Robert and Helen for the croissants and flowers which were a lovely personal touch, and, as I said to Robert, I wish we could live in Melita permanently but alas this week it is back to the harsh reality of work and bills! Thanks for everything :)

Thank you, this was the perfect property for our family Christmas made even better by the owner's efforts.

We certainly lacked for nothing as everything that we required was provided and the beds were some of the most comfortable that I have slept on. The rooms are large and well furnished and it feels like being at home. The owners were most accommodating and helpful. Curry Rivel itself boasts an extremely good pub(The Firehouse) which does really good meals and is within easy walking distance. A small one stop store is just down the road and open from early to late, whilst a Tesco is in the nearby town of Langport. There is a regular but infrequent bus service between the towns of Yeovil and Taunton that stops just outside the bungalow.

But no keys code on arrival, no working contact number for owners, large fresh tea stain in bedroom, finger food Mark's on touch points on fridge & freezer and kitchen cupboard fronts (all easily cleaned off), dust in corners of floors and bits of food under sofas, open food products left in kitchen including open sugar bowl with lots of flys and used toiletries in bathrooms, hot water running out first night leaving two of us using kettle washes, heating started working (strangely mid week) even though in the off posistion, instructionsin a box not in folder ,headboard very loose in main bedroom, dvd player not connected/compatible with tv, tv wifi connection to bt hub very very slow.

I am sorry you felt the need to comment on some issues, had , however, we would suggest that you should have text us 2 or 3 days prior to your stay as at the time we were in a very bad area to receive a mobile phone call when you arrived. We pride ourselves on ensuring the cottage is cleaned to a very high standard, so not sure why there was dust and food under the sofas. Regarding food products, which is just the sugar, we take note of this and will ensure this is placed in a sealed container. We do like to ensure that our quests have the luxury of plenty of tea, coffee, toiletries etc, so that they do not have to worry about a visit to the local Tesco on the first day. The issues with the hot water, we would have welcomed a phone call to us or Sykes at the time and we would have done something to sort this out. We cannot solve a problem unless we know it's there. As the cottage is situated in a rural area, we are governed by the speeds that are provided. Regarding the CD player we will look into that, but again, we would have looked into it straight away if you would have contacted us. We appreciate that our guests have a long drive to the cottage so like to ensure that you can relax in the delightful garden with the home made croissants from a local bakery that we leave for you.
