Dear Dream Cottages,
First of all, I’d like to thank you for quickly sorting out the problem with the lock on the day we arrived. It wasn’t ideal finding out we couldn’t get in when we arrived as we had an 8 week old baby with us and so we were anxious to get settled. We were glad that we hadn’t arrived to this problem late at night as it might have been harder to sort out. We did wonder though - wouldn’t the cleaner have noticed the problem with the lock when they locked up?
On the subject of the cleaner, we want to bring to your attention the subject of cleanliness of the cottage. We don’t want to leave a bad review and thought it would be better to email you directly about this. After we arrived, we soon noticed that the cleanliness of the cottage was not up to a good standard. Many things had not been checked that they were clean after the last people who stayed there. We were pleased to see bed linen was clean, but apart form this, we found bins not emptied, medication in a drawer, a stained cushion on the sofa, spillages on the floor, and plenty of dust. I have attached several photo’s to show you. We paid a lot of money and felt like the cleaner had just changed the bed linen and not checked much else was cleaned to a satisfactory standard. The cleanliness certainly didn’t meet the standard of the most basic chain hotels. We didn’t contact dream cottages about this during our stay as it would have ruined our holiday to be in discussions about it, and it would have been too disruptive to have someone come and clean it while we were there.
In the visitor’s book, other holiday makers have also commented on the standard of cleanliness of the cottage and that they felt it was ‘tired’, which we also would agree with. Please could you make the owner aware of this. We regret to say that although the cottage was in a perfect location, we won’t be staying there again.
