  • Pete & Catherine were warm & welcoming from start to finish.

“A tranquil idyll where we felt any cares just melt away. Wood burner for chilly May evenings or the sweet little terrace overlooking fields to recline with an evening glass of wine, listen to birdsong & watch the sun go down.”

Homely & comfortable & Ruby (my dog) had a fabulous time racing around with the owners dogs. We’ll be returning ...”

The property

Set in the rural East Dorset hamlet of Mannington is this unique, single-story timber lodge, imaginatively renovated from a former barn. It's found in the grounds of the owners small holding & Grade ll listed Dorset Long House.

The lodge is full of charm and character featuring attractive wood-paneling throughout and a cosy wood-burning stove in the sitting area, a snug place to toast your toes after a day exploring this lovely area. The small, fitted kitchen area is well-equipped to satisfy your self-catering adventure, and the wood-paneled bedroom is next to a superb Jacuzzi bath, where you can soak your aches away as you lie in the warm bubbles.

Outside you have a private south-facing patio area overlooking paddocks, ideal for relaxing after a day out exploring, for dining outside enjoying the countryside views and abundance of wildlife, or stargazing at the dark sky with no hint of street lighting.

Locally you can walk or cycle, via a footpath or country lane, to nearby Holt Heath Nature Reserve where you can walk for miles in stunning scenery, or enjoy a trip to Moors Valley Country Park.

There is a quaint country pub within walking distance, and are several dog friendly pubs nearby.

Take a trip to the nearby market town and ancient Minster of Wimborne.

Alternatively, explore the New Forest National Park, the stunning coast line, lovely sandy beaches and attractions of the seaside resort of Bournemouth, the charm of Poole Harbour and its islands, or Salisbury's splendid cathedral - all easily accessible from this lovely lodge.
