  • "This is a lovely comfortable property in a great location."

Everything was perfect for my friend , myself and one dog. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cater for yourself. Our only problem was with the underfloor heating , the controls are difficult , but it was sorted very quickly. My only slight niggle and I don’t see a reason , was no welcome pack. I’ve never been to a property with out something . The owner mentions in the info that she doesn’t even leave milk ( I dont understand why not). This doesn’t mean I wouldn’t stay again as it’s lovely but it could be perfect.

Thank you for your feedback Karen. The reason I don’t leave fresh products is mainly because the changeover is always done on the day guests depart and then the property may be empty for a few days so any fresh product would then not be so fresh. I live too far away to pop back on the day of arrival and it’s not cost effective (or reliable) to ask cleaners to do this either. Also. There are so many milk alternatives for example and so there would potentially be a lot of waste. The nearest supermarket is only 1.5 miles away. And please do come again. KR. Susie Property Owner

  • "Beautiful holiday home."

Disappointed that the garden wasn’t fenced especially as we had our dogs with us and there’s a main road nearby. Otherwise everything else was great. Was a bit hot at night in the main bedroom, it has an outside door that we couldn’t leave open over night for obvious reasons, the window was tucked away at the end of the room so I felt was a bit too hot during the night. Very spacious ideal for family.

Pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and thanks for your feedback. It’s almost impossible to securely fence off the property without spoiling the views over the cricket pitch and its ‘openness’ (which is part of The Old Stables charm). There is a gate across the back of the property giving a secure space for dogs to stretch legs / enjoy some fresh air. I have now purchased a fan Property Owner

  • "We had a great time at The Old Stables."

Four adults and our cockapoo. Very spacious, open-plan living. Everything worked well (agree with others that the oven was a bit tricky, but The Chefs sorted it! Really quiet, yet so close to so many great places to visit - we went to Stonehenge, Stourhead NT, Longleat, Old Wardour Castle and Sherborne Castle - none more than 30 minutes away. We have an EV, so the charging was a must for us and worked like a treat. Waitrose is only about 5 minutes by car and was perfect for us.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. The ovens are rather modern and efficient aren’t they! I’m glad you enjoyed so many wonderful local places. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

Aside from the kitchen (which is installed to a very high specification), all the soft furnishings in the living area are luxurious and the beds are all really comfortable. To get a Super King bed in a holiday let is a real treat. From Sky TV, Sonos sound system to the board games stashed away for families, all the extras that make staying away that but special have been thought of. • "Vacation in The Old Stables In a nutshell: Spacious, new holiday home (2022) in a rural setting."

Very good for dog lovers, very kind and friendly owner. Village of Gillingham with shops, vet and raw dog food sale is 5 minutes away. Easy access to Jurassic Coast and Bristol Channel. Highly recommended. Beautiful, new and spacious holiday home in a rural setting near Gillingham. The holiday home is an absolute highlight. We were two persons, but four or six people is no problem. The lovingly furnished, a mixture of new and old furniture (white chair painted with a butterfly, old box with a horse's heads), leaves nothing to be desired. The bathroom with shower and free-standing bathtub, three bedrooms, two of them quite large, one with a separate bathroom, three sofas in the living / dining area (Sky, WiFi), fully equipped kitchen with two ovens, large induction cooker, huge fridge/freezer with crushed ice machine... wow, we have never had such a comfortable holiday. On Wednesdays cricket was played on the lawn of Milton Manor, exciting, especially for us Germans :o). The contact with the landlady was absolutely friendly and nice. Very important: our dog was allowed to come along. The property is bordered on three sides by a wooden fence, but (as of today) is open to the cricket pitch. A boundary would be nice here, so dogs could move all around the property without a leash or observation. Raw food (BARF) sales, pet supply store and veterinarian in 5 minutes' reach (Gillingham). Surroundings: From the Bristol Channel to the Jurassic Coast, from "Gold Hill" to "Stourhead House and Garden", everything is easy to reach and worth a visit. Susi, thanks for the great home and a beautiful time! Carola, Arnd and Nala

Originally built in 1800 as a stable block in the grounds of Milton Manor, The Old Stables was completely renovated during 2021 and is now an attractive, unique single-storey, detached, characterful property.

The property comfortably sleeps six guests (plus two more if you use the double sofa bed in the Kingsize bedroom) and has ample off-road private parking for up to four cars.

Enter the stone-fronted cottage, kick off your shoes, hang up your coat and let the holiday begin.

As you enter the open plan lounge, the exposed oak beams create a feeling of spaciousness and glamour whilst the three big comfortable sofas welcome you to relax.

The open plan living space has triple bi fold doors opening onto a large patio encouraging you outside for an alfresco morning coffee or perhaps an afternoon snooze on the zero gravity sun loungers.

The sleek, well equipped kitchen has a large American style fridge freezer, two split level ovens and an efficient induction Hob.

If you’re enticed to rustle up a meal, lay the dinning table and relax listening to your favourite music on the Sonos speaker.

The table easily seats six diners and there are two bar stools should you have a guest or two.

Just a stone's throw away you will find an abundance of shops, restaurants, and pubs easing your self-catering stay; The Dolphin Inn, The Phoenix and The Red Lion are all available for lunches, evening meals and drinks.

As the night unfolds, retreat to three stylish bedrooms, choose either the super-king, a double with an en-suite shower room, or a cosy twin bedded room, all offering a tranquil setting to unwind and refresh.

The Old Stables is completed with a contemporary bathroom, featuring a large walk-in shower, and a roll top bath, perfect after a long day of walking.
