    Mr Allington

“A wonderful relaxing break, so many lovely touches from Caroline, cake on arrival, bread & eggs & fresh flowers & treats for our doggie.”

The cottage was immaculate & had everything we needed. We couldn’t recommend enough.

The cottage

Quietly situated in the rural hamlet of Hurcot yet only a mile and a half from the pretty market town of Somerton.

The cottage is spacious and well-presented throughout with an enclosed rear garden and patio.

In the middle of a row of three cottages it provides a cosy comfortable base from which to explore the area.

The Cottage offers an open plan kitchen dining area ideal for relaxing with a morning coffee.

In the evening savour a home cooked meal before unwinding on the sofa in front of the warming woodburning stove on the chillier evenings.

If you are visiting during the summer months, spend time in the garden, where you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining whilst your canine companions stretch their legs on the lawn.

Woodland walks are available from the doorstep (into Great Breach Nature Reserve) and the start of the Polden Way is just along from the cottages’ driveway.

Visit the local market town of Somerton, which has the usual facilities, independent stores, Post Office, antique/gift shops, pubs, takeaways and a bank.

Within the town you will be able to explore the elegant architecture around the Market Square and the Buttercross (used as a set for the 80s TV series ‘The Monocled Mutineer’) and admire the dragons and cider barrels carved in the roof of St Michael's Church.

For those feeling active, the town is surrounded by a number of walks and cycle routes, as well as fishing at Viaduct Fisheries in Somerton.

Golf is available at Long Sutton Golf Club.

Within easy reach are Glastonbury, Wells, the picturesque Mendip Hills AONB and Cheddar Gorge.

Both the North Somerset and Dorset coasts are within an hour’s drive.

Clarks shopping village at Street is a 15 minute drive away.

2 Hurcot Cottages is a refreshing getaway for a couple looking to explore the area’s wonderful attractions.
