  • "The facilities were very good."

The kitchen was fully equipped and it's very handy having a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The oven & microwave worked very well too. It was nice to have free Internet access and a smart television too. The neighbourhood is quiet and there's a pleasant inn a short walk away. Our little toddler really liked the local playground nearby. We didn't really explore Hutton much other than that; we instead chose to drive to nearby attractions like Cheddar Gorge, the beach, Weston Super Mare etc. Some things weren't as clean as we would have liked. This wasn't a show stopper as we always go over areas we use with disinfectant and a cloth when we arrive. An occasional deep clean by the hosts that removes dust from the crockery cupboards, bits of food from the freezer drawers and dried liquid stains from the fridge (in particular handles) might make sense. There was also an issue with shower pipe having grime that would fall into the bath occasionally making bathing a little unpleasant some times. Noise was a bit of an issue for us. Other reviewers have mentioned the very loud macerator in the upstairs loo. This gets triggered even when one uses the wash basin. A slight drip on the tap (if not fully turned off) will trigger a loud whirring/grinding sound seemingly at random times throughout the night! Another noise issue for us was the continuous pump sound coming from the boiler. This radiates throughout all the radiators at all times (in the winter months the hosts leave the heating on all day). During the day, this manifests as a low drone/hum that blends into the background noise of any cars that pass by the house. However, at nighttime, when all else is quiet, the noise sounds like a distant helicopter whirring and it really didn't help with sleep. Fortunately, we asked the hosts to turn off the heating off between 10pm and 5am and this made it far easier to fall asleep. This wouldn't be an issue for the summer time as I understand heating is off at night time by default. The hosts were very accommodating, eg adjusting heating as described above and also providing blankets to help black-out some windows when we found one of the rooms too bright to sleep in. All in all a pleasant stay. Thank you.

  • "This property was an excellent choice for us."

We had commitments during the day and the property gave us the tranquil space we needed to recharge our batteries. Clean and with a well stocked kitchen-we couldn’t have found a more suitable place. Thank you.

Good base for area & decent pub 2 mins walk. Outside area little cut off so did not really use. Would happily stay here again. Appreciated supply of cleaning and washing items.

  • "The cottage was in a great location for the Somerset coast and within easy reach of Cheddar."

It was about 1 hour’s drive from Bath and Longleat. Everything we needed was in the cottage and we had a very comfortable stay. There is a rather noisy macerator toilet in the upstairs bathroom - this was ok for us with an older family, but for families with young children or light sleepers, this could disturb people in the adjacent bedroom. In addition, some handrails on the bath would make it a bit easier to get in and out of it to use the shower. All in all, we really enjoyed our week in The East Wing.

  • "The East Wing Cottage in Hutton, Weston - Super - Mare was, on the whole, very comfortable and well equipped."

The info pack was very comprehensive containing all of the user manuals for all of the appliances. A lovely upwelling delicious food was situated a five minute walk away and the bus fir WSM was even nearer. Only one or two things let the cottage down slightly. An overpowering smell of damp hit you as soon as you came in the cottage door. This came from the downstairs toilet. It didn't permeate the whole house so was only noticeable when we came back into the cottage after being out all day. But it did make an unfavourable first impression. While the level of cleanliness was over all very good, the presence of very noticeable dust on skirting boards, door panels and window frames wasn't! We would have liked a steamer to use with the saucepan for cooking fresh veg. None of this would stop me from reccomending or rebooking the cottage.

  • "We had a lovely week in the East Wing."

The weather was rubbish but there was plenty to do in the surrounding areas and we enjoyed visiting Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Bristol (Aquarium mainly) and Weston Super Mare beach (when the wind had died down enough!) and Grand Pier. It was disappointing that the village shop was closed - this isn't the owners' fault though obviously! With two small children it's nice to have somewhere you can just walk to now and again to pick up bits of shopping or just get out of the house. We ended up having to drive everywhere, which wasn't completely ideal but not a huge issue overall. The property was great for our needs and very well equipped. It was nice to have games and DVDs available for our use as well. The only negative I would bring up is that the furniture in the bedrooms wasn't fixed to the walls, which in a rental property that families are likely to be using isn't great. I'd recommend the owners fix this asap just for additional peace of mind for people staying in the property (and for themselves as well). Otherwise, thanks for a great stay; we had a lovely half term family break.

  • "The East Wing is not only bigger than it looks in the photos but the owners go the extra mile providing the basics so you can start your holiday as soon as you arrive."

The location is fabulous, close enough to supermarkets, Weston-super-Mare and key road connections yet far enough away to have horses walking past and feel like you are deep into the countryside. Wonderful local attractions are all sufficiently close and the village is proud to have a super Chinese and a very popular pub within its footprint - both a short walk from the cottage.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at The East Wing a nice, comfortable, clean and spacious property for our family of four."

The outdoor space was on the small side but at least offered privacy from the neighbouring properties. The property is situated in the beautifully well kept village of Hutton and is a stones throw away from the local pub which served great food. The property was very close to the centre & beachside of Weston Super Mere, only a very short drive away. Also an ideal base for touring the local area with Wookey Hole, Wells, Cheddar and Burnham On Sea all close and we visited them all. Would recommend this property and hope to return again one day.
