  • "This is a nice house, beautiful garden, handy off street parking and a great location."

    However, it is lacking in some basics: only 7 pillows for 5 people, 2 bedside lamps for 5 people, no where to hang 5 large wet bath towels and no extra blankets for the beds should it be chilly. The description is full of lies. The bathrooms are tired, there is not a walk in shower and we could not find any ‘character’ in the main bedroom. The kitchen is ‘well equipped’ for tea and toast. The kettle is full of limescale, the crockery is of poor quality and out of the 6 dinner plates, 2 were cracked right across along with a bowl so unusable. That left 4 plates for 5 people. The cutlery is a mixture of 1970’s and the cheapest possible. The rest of the ‘equipment’ is basic. Cheap sharp knives falling out of handles, limited oven trays & 1 dish safe for the oven and only 2 shelves. No oven gloves yet the saucepans have a warning about hot handles and no mats to put hot pans or oven trays on. The microwave is new but tiny. There are no options for making coffee. More worryingly, the oven has an electrical fault. It cuts in out whilst in use (and yes we were using it correctly with the timer function) turning the display panel blank. It also cuts in and out when not in use, making a loud buzzing noise. We have stayed in Sykes properties before so happily booked this house assuming the description was accurate. We paid a premium for this property over half term which was not as described and we feel very let down by Sykes.

  • "This property is in a great location but that’s about it !"

    Cottage is very basic and needs a good upgrade for what Sykes are charging. The shower is a small cubicle not a walk in shower as described on the web site the door was hanging loose and shower head hardly works .It was cold as the radiator didn’t work properly. The Kitchen was basic and there was no instructions for the oven or microwave ! The lounge has a basic small TV no smart facilities or DVD player The main bedroom has the boiler in the wardrobe which is noisy when it comes on at 5 AM. Be aware the neighbour has right of way through the garden which would have been nice to known beforehand. Personally I did not find the cottage as clean as expected . Departure time of 9am is a bit early especially when you have to leave in the rush hour onto a busy road on a bend. 10 am would be more reasonable.

    Thankyou for these comment, which have been taken on board. Spare pillows & blankets can be found in the airing cupboard. Kitchen accessories & utensils are checked every month and are replaced as necessary. The new cooker has arrived from Germany and has been installed.   • "Positives..."

    location great for Wimborne. Wimborne beautiful place and many great shops and friendly staff. Cottage was clean and tidy and a good base for our stay . Negatives...cottage very basic and needs an upgrade for the price charged. Only one shower and this hardly works and is in a cold extension by the back door with a poorly functioning radiator. The main bedroom has a boiler in which is noisy and the other two bedrooms are really only for children and were not suitable for a group of four adults. Very basic TV with no smart facilities or dvd...no instructions for central heating and took a phone call to get working, likewise no instructions for the oven and the toaster only half worked. Two sets of stairs very steep and the first set definitely needs to be carpeted. Basic upgrades would make this more comfortable... overpriced and basic which was a great shame for location.

    The heating engineer called today and can find no issue with the central heating system or the radiator or the toaster. The shower was checked. The facilities are simple and this is reflected in the price. The owners do not set the prices and you could always take this up with Sykes. We are happy to accept whatever they say. Property Owner

  • "16th - 24th November 2021 A lovely cosy cottage, very clean & welcoming."

    It’s an ideal location to visit surroundings towns and beaches. Wimborne itself has lovely shops, pubs and restaurants.which are all in walking distance . We plan to stay again next year. Sharon, Christian, Janice & Bobbie

  • "Very clean and tidy, helpful next door neighbour."

    Stairs are very steep and hand rail a bit wobbly, also they are painted and slippery with socks on, need to be made aware of this perhaps in description.

  • "The accommodation is in a fabulous location, close to all amenities, great bars, cafes and places to eat too."

    With the wonderful weather we had, a rear garden was also a very welcome addition. Whilst the cottage was clean, some of the facilities in the kitchen were sadly lacking. The hob and oven never worked properly, limited cookware and utensils made cooking even simple meals a challenge, plus a chopping board with bits of it coming off onto food. As the accommodation slept 5, the lack of a vacuum was also a surprise. It was clear with the location how popular the cottage was, but those other touches would have made the stay even more enjoyable.

  • "The house is in a lovely town and it’s close to everything so scores highly for location."

    Unfortunately the house itself needs some serious updating, particularly downstairs. For a family of 5 it lacked lots of basic essentials that I’d expect in a 3 bedroom holiday house - DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, Hoover. The kitchen and fridge were tiny with the bare minimum in terms of cutlery and pans etc. Not particularly child friendly with hanging blind cords and uncarpeted stairs. The toaster is still only half working and the oven is difficult to use.

  • "Cottage was very central within easy walking distance of shops, pubs and nicely located for walking the dog around Pamphill, the River Stour and Canon Hill woods."

    The smashing garden is full of flowers and has a friendly neighbour. The cottage is close to a fairly busy road but that didn't really bother us. Wifi was very unstable, but I changed the filter and it improved but still wasn't absolutely perfect. The cottage needs some essential facilities such as a washing machine, working oven, hoover and working toaster. The hob is very hard to control the temperature.
