  • “This was a lovely cosy cottage with loads of character in a very quiet little village.”

The welcome pack which included all the basics (milk, bread, butter AND prosecco!) was very generous and not expected. Kitchen was large and fairly well equipped - could do with a few more oven trays etc. Some very minor things that could improve it - remote control for TV upstairs had no batteries in, the 'open fire' was in fact an electric fire (not sure open fire would be allowed with a beautiful thatched roof?), only one stand-up shower, but other baths had shower attachments so you can improvise. Overall a lovely place to be though.

Located within the tranquil lands of Kilmington not far from the River Wylye, they're within an ideal destination for walking, cycling, nature spotting, and all important picnicking in beautiful settings. With Mere just 4.4 miles away, head here for a day full of action and fun, with a selection of local shops, the breath-taking historical landmark of Castle Hill, its own museum, and wide variety of places to eat, it boasts a wide array of attractions for a small town. To take in even more of the scenery of Wiltshire, head to Cley Hill, a short but steep walk well-worth the effort when you reach the top and observe the lands that surround you, once part of the Longleat estate, it now stands as a popular area to walk, cycle, and run with locals and tourists from all over. Nearby you will stumble across the newest National Park in England; South Downs, explore it from the sky while soaring by plane, hot air balloon, or even paraglider, or take a kite to the sky with the kids for a day out full of fun for all the family. To enrich yourself in history, Longleat House, the seat of the Marquesses of Bath lets you explore the stately home by house tours, or venture through the formal gardens, with history stretching back to the 1st Viscount Weymouth, this makes the perfect spot for any culture vulture. Longleat House also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including The Festival of Light, Sky Safari and An Australian Summer. Stourhead house and its world famous gardens are just 2 miles away and in Autumn the spectacular display of burnished leaves and various shades of orange, red and yellow are not to be missed.
