  • “The bungalow was really lovely and very good for the less able.”

Access was ideal with lots of space for wheelchair/ scooter etc. It was clean and spacious in a beautiful setting and there was enough of everything to live and cater for the week. Lots of room for the dog crate and for him to exercise in the conservatory. No need to publish the following as we did have a lovely time. Small negatives:- The toaster only had one side working. The shower tends to run all over the place including the double bedroom so a mop would have been useful to dry and to clean. The mattress on the single bed I slept in was a bit tired, the springs made themselves known. To be really picky a riser recliner would have been ideal but I know that's not an essential for most visitors. Apologies for forgetting to turn the dishwasher on, I remembered when we were half way home.

The property

Mimosa cottage is located in the Dorset Coastal village of West Bexington and offers beautiful views of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast as well as the rolling hills and patchwork of fields of surrounding the village.

The cottage is a part of a complex of three holiday cottages with individual pretty gardens surrounding them all.

Mimosa cottage is a superb holiday home for disabled person and a carer being thoughtfully equipped and well laid out.

It is of course also good for any able-bodied family or couple too. Guests staying at Mimosa will benefit from the wheelchair friendly accommodation with comfortable spacious rooms all on one level, including an accessible wet room, conservatory and separate chill out room.

A patio area with tables and chairs is the ideal place to enjoy an alfresco lunch in the sunshine whilst surveying the wonderful views all around.

Surrounding Mimosa are delightful gardens for you to explore, pockets of lawn are interspersed with paths and fruit trees.

You are more than welcome to help yourself to apples and pears when they ripen over the Summer. Take a short walk across the field and you will reach the famous Chesil Beach.

Admire thousands of wintering birds on the Fleet or spot a variety of Dorset wildlife through binoculars.

If you are ready for more energetic activities, you can walk to the beautiful village of Abbotsbury which is situated just a few miles along the coast towards the Isle of Portland.

Abbotsbury’s Abbey, St Catherine’s chapel, the Swans Sanctuary, Sub-tropical gardens and tea room will make a great day out for everyone in the party. A little tea room is within walking distance from the cottage following the path across the field, ideal for some refreshment after a hearty walk.

There is an organic farm shop nearby selling locally grown produce, with shops and supermarkets just a short drive away in Bridport. Mimosa is the perfect location to relax and unwind off the beaten track to the sounds of birds rather than traffic. Come and enjoy some time away from your hectic life at Mimosa cottage.

About the location

WEST BEXINGTON

Abbotsbury 3 miles; Bridport 6 miles.

Lying next to the sea and Chesil Beach, equidistant between Burton Bradstock and Abbotsbury, is the small village of West Bexington. This is a stunning area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an area of Special Scientific Interest - pebbled Chesil Beach, which extends for 14 miles, from Burton Bradstock to the Portland peninsula, is part of the Jurassic Coast and now a World Heritage Site. Fishermen and walkers are well provided for, as a great variety of fish can be caught at any time of year, and the South West Coastal Path runs right alongside the beach. Only confident swimmers should attept to swim here, but Weymouth, offering lovely, gently shelving sands, is only a short drive away. There's lots to see and do within easy reach of the village. No journey to this area would be complete without a visit to picturesque Abbotsbury, 3 miles, with its Swannery, Tithe Barn and Sub Tropical Gardens, with Dorchester, Bridport, and Lyme Regis all within easy reach.
