  • "Owner was really helpful with local information and comprehensive black booklet with instructions for all appliances, etc."

We found the house very clean and comfortable. It was ideally situated for our family wedding at Babington House and within easy reach of Frome with its shopping facilities, railway station, etc. All in all a good stay and we enjoyed our time there.

  • "Stradbrook Ford is definitely the best cottage we’ve stayed in so far."

The quality of the furnishings, the crockery and cutlery was first class. The standard of cleanliness was very high also! The village shop in Mells was very well stocked and it became our larder - we needed to shop at the Co op in Frome only once. The peaceful and beautiful surroundings were most enjoyable and we shall most certainly visit again.

  • "A really good week spent in this interesting village."

The area is good for both local walks and driving further afield. The local Talbot Inn is highly recommended for both food and a warm welcome.

  • "This property was first class."

Everything you could possibly need was provided - except a measuring jug. The welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch. We were a group of 3 generations and it was perfect. Really homely and comfortable. The only downside was that the tumble drier didn't dry. We cleaned the filter and emptied the water tank and unblocked the condenser but to no avail. Despite this I can't rate it highly enough. Well done!

Thank you for your feedback, I am glad you had a lovely stay. I have purchased a new tumble drier. If you had let me know of the problem while you were there this could have been rectified straight away. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful property in an idyllic setting."

Extremely clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Easy booking and communication and the detailed information left in the cottage was really helpful. Great location with easy access to many attractions in this lovely part of the country but we also enjoyed staying in the village with pub, village shop, delightful tea at the Walled Garden and country walks. A great stay and can highly recommend Stradbrook Ford and Sykes Cottages - we hope to return.

We liked sitting out in the garden and watching the swans in the river at the bottom of the garden! Good base to visit Bath & Glastonbury as well as places to go walking.

  • "We were very pleasantly surprised by the information up front, but our surprise upon arrival was even greater."

A lovely situated cottage. Rooms, facilities and everything in perfect order! A fully equiped kitchen gave us ample opportunity to try it out! Too bad I didn't get to spend as much time in the library as I would have liked.

The cottage was an ideal size to accommodate us all and we did not feel overcrowded. The cottage has an excellent range of facilities and is extremely clean and comfortable. It is in a lovely quiet area with lots of walks to go on and surrounding countryside to explore. We wished we could have stayed longer.

! Directions to the property & location of the key were easy to follow & comprehensive details of all facilities were detailed in a folder left by the owner. There was even a welcome basket of 'goodies' (including a bottle of bubbly) left for us which was much appreciated!!

  • "The house was fab."

Truly enjoyed our stay BUT cleanliness was a true concern especially with a property of this stature and the price we paid. I have taken photo's which will shock. Will be following this up with yourselves. Several times we tried to contact the cleaning company bt no answer and no answerphone.

Firstly, we would like to express our gratitude for raising your concerns after your stay. We were fortunate to receive a couple of pictures to determine the cause and are pleased to provide assurances that this is no longer a concern. We take much pride in our property as has been reflected in the previous feedback. We take all comments seriously in order to help us to continually improve our standards. We would like to highlight that had we been notified of your dissatisfaction at the time, we would have been more than happy to put this right for you. Thanks again for providing us with your feedback, and we are pleased that despite the concerns that you shared you still enjoyed your stay in our property. We recommend the river walk to from Mells to Frome that is suggested in the guest book! Frank was responsive, friendly, and incredibly helpful during and after our stay.
