  • "Lack of welcome pack was disappointing, and no starter pack for the fire."

DVD player would have been nice too. But cottage was spotless & the Christmas decorations were a nice touch. We would stay again, it is in a great position for local amenities, yet still very quiet.

Visited The Lodders Arms for drinks , be aware they do close mid afternoon . The Crown was a lovely pub with gorgeous food and a 10 minute walk from the cottage . There is a farm opposite with fresh eggs . Disappointed with lack of logs and lack of information where to get them but found some at the co-op in Bridport . The fire was amazing , the sofas very comfortable . The showers could do with more power but the bathrooms were lovely . I would stay again definitely .

Lounge a good size with plenty of seating, lovely fireplace, perhaps think about adding the cost of logs to late season bookings? Cottage was cosy though, heating warmed the whole place up very quickly, usually had to turn it off! Shower in en suite not very powerful but adequate, comfy beds and fluffy towels Coast was very pretty, lots of pretty bays within easy reach

My only critical feedback was dog hairs on both purple throws,I understand it is dog friendly, but could you please remind holiday makers to not use the cottage throws and to bring their own, thank you

Thank your for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear the throws had dog hair on them. Please accept my apologies. We do specify that dogs should not be allowed on the furniture but obviously that is very difficult to police. There is a blanket and a dog bed in the understairs cupboard for visiting dogs. We will add something in the Visitor pack to remind guests of this and ask our cleaning team to check the throws are clean. Property Owner

  • "The property is as described, plenty of room, very comfy beds."

The kitchen is well equipped. The only points I would like to make is the parking is very tight and could be resolved by cutting back all the overgrown brambles etc, then there would more than enough room. The lounge furniture is very tired, and low to the floor, it could do with being replaced with something more comfortable. However this wouldn't put us off returning .

Thank you for your feedback. I have asked the gardener to make sure the brambles are cut back. We appreciate that the parking area at the back of the cottage is not very spacious but there is also plenty of room for parking on the very quiet road outside. We suggest parking additional cars just uphill from the entrance to the drive on the road on the same side as the cottage by the telegraph pole which allows you to walk straight onto the drive around the back of the cottage. I'm sorry to hear the sitting room furniture was not to your taste. It's very difficult finding furniture that suits everyone. It's not very old and it is professionally maintained and cleaned and we have been told it is very comfortable by many other guests. Property Owner

Extremely well equipped and comfortable. We loved the view from the back bedroom window and looked forward to watching the cows walk down to be milked, we even saw a beautiful fox. Our four legged family member was intrigued by the cows across the road, and they were equally intrigued by him. A lovely walk via playing field, over the brook and back under the bridge was our morning walk. Ideally located to provide peace and tranquility, but within easy reach of Bridport and access to the main A35 for exploring beautiful Dorset. We are looking forward to returning again.

Lack of space to park second car was an issue as we didnt feel on road was safe.

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at Pippins. We generally park a second car on the same side as Pippins opposite the gate into the farm yard where the road is a bit wider just beyond the entrance to the drive. Then you don’t need to cross the road and can walk straight onto the drive around the back and through the garden gate. It is a very quiet country lane with little traffic and we have never had any problems parking here . I will update the guest information with this suggestion when I am next at the cottage. The dishwasher and washing machine both needed a deep clean the garden pots needed some attention Also the frying pan needs to be replaced with a bigger one that doesn’t stick The cottage itself is a real credit to the owner so will return!

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you felt the cottage was so homely.. I can only think the smell of soot was because we had just had the chimney swept. We actually stayed the week after your visit and didn’t notice the smell at all so the open windows must’ve done the trick. I deep-cleaned the appliances and planted the pots with some colourful herbs which guests are welcome to use and some summer bedding. We do have quite a large nonstick stoneware frying pan and also a Le Cruset a style saute pan for larger meals but I will review these on my next visit. • "Wonderful cosy, very comfortable stunning cottage."

Located in a beautiful quiet rural village but also very close to amenities and an in excellent location for exploring Dorset by car. The cottage had a very well equipped kitchen and plenty of space for 5/6 people. Lots of useful information in the cottage too which was fantastic. We would add The New Inn in Shipton Gorge on the list of good places to go to eat. We had an excellent meal there. There were so many public footpaths to explore in the area when walking from the cottage and lots of beautiful properties and scenery to see. Fantastic place if you enjoy walking in the countryside. We had a fantastic time and would definitely come again. Our only very small quibble would be that there was no soap in two out of three of the bathrooms when we arrived and not much loo roll and there were a couple of small maintenance issues which we tried reporting to the cleaning company (as requested by cottage owners in the file) but the cleaning company didn't bother to get back to us. I sent two messages to the number provided and neither were answered. If they were major issues we would have been able to contact Dreams Cottages directly. We left a note when we left. We really did love our time in Pippins Cottage overall and we would definitely recommend it! Many thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Pippins. I am sorry the housekeepers overlooked cleaning out the fireplace before your stay but I gather they sorted this out promptly. • "Very comfortable, very well equipped and laid out."

The cottage has everything you could ask for. There was a loo brush missing in the ensuite and we could have done with some champagne/prosseco flutes and some small liqueur/sherry glasses. The french windows and window in the sitting room could do with a good clean. Lots of fly poo left over from the summer. Logs for the fire were expensive - contact details of a local log supplier previous to arriving would have been helpful, to enable us to order half a load. Clarification about steps to the sitting room and the 2 guest bedrooms would have been helpful. But would definitely go back, amazing walks and very convenient between Lyme Regis and Weymouth.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We did have a lot more glasses but we received comments that there wasn't enough cupboard space for food and that there were too many glasses so we reduced the quantity. We will review it again over the winter. I will pass on your comments about the windows to the housekeeping team and ask them to pay particular attention to those. Groves at the top of the West Bay Rd are very good for logs and I will check that this is included in our Visitor information. I will pass your comments on about steps to Sykes. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

Very pleased with the accommodation. Unfortunately we found a few problems regarding cleanliness in the on suite bathroom (mould in plug hole of shower and unpleasant toilet brush). Another hazard was the garden path. I appreciate it is the time of year for apples to fall but no attempt had been made to clear the path and it was really dangerous to get to the back door. Dorset was really enjoyable and friendly. I would have given 5 stars only the footpath to the back door of the cottage was unusable because of an overgrown tree and with a baby and two dogs and no parking at the front it was difficult to come and go from the cottage. We ended up doing some pruning so we could get to the house through the garden.

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Pippins. My apologies about the overgown rose bush which has now been removed which should make access from the drive at the back of the cottage passable again. For future reference you are welcome to park right outside the front door for loading and unloading and just up the hill beyond the entrance to the rear drive on the road for longer periods as well if you wish. • "We were looking forward to a break over the new year and a couple of friends had stayed at this cottage previously and had described it as cosy."

All in all the cottage was cosy however, we left early as the bedding was so inadequate. The quality of the towels were lovely and they were beautifully white - a pleasure to use. The duvet was without doubt the cheapest most horrible item I have seen in a long time. We used the ensuite room and my sister used the other double. she also said it was thin and inadequate and had to get the duvets off the twin room as she was so cold. I could not face another night under such bedding and left a day before we were meant to. The bedding should surely be the same quality of the towels? When I stripped the bed the duvet reminded me of something from a student flat or bedsit and not the quality you would expect at the price we paid. The kitchen is fine but cluttered - why two stick blenders? It would be so much better if refreshed and thinned down. I sound like a whinge but the quality of bedding is so important and when I think about our stay the good points are heavily overshadowed by the discomfort and lack of warmth. Both sets of friends stayed in the summer and this was not an issue to them. We have friends in Loders and went to look at another rental in the village and I have to say the quality was far, far superior. I am sorry for what must read like very negative but it did disappoint. I suspect you will not be publishing my feedback.

Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry to hear you felt the bedding provided was inadequate. Unfortunately due to Covid we have removed the additional quilted bedspreads which we normally provide for each bed as it would be very difficult to clean and dry them between guests. Sadly we cannot provide feather duvets which would be warmer due the possibility of having guests with allergies. We are due to do the annual overhaul of the cottage and will look into getting a new set of duvets specifically for the colder winter months. Property Owner

Much more spacious than expected which was great for 4 adults. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms which are very roomy. The sitting room was charming with the open fire and made a perfect space to celebrate Christmas. We appreciated the tree and decorations. Dorset is wet and muddy in December and with the door opening straight into the kitchen it was impossible to keep the floor clean. We would have liked to have had a mop and bucket so we could clean the floor properly but the only mop we found was broken. A lovely cottage and we'd be happy to return, perhaps in the dry season!

The lighting in the kitchen and lounge is poor. The lighting in the kitchen is so poor that its not possible to see to properly wash up at the sink when it is dark; 2.The bed linen and towels are all very heavily perfumed, we imagine as a result of the powder/ fabric softener used; because this was our 2nd visit and we were aware of this we brought our own bed linen and towels; 3. It would be nice if the cleaning products available could be expanded; eg there was no hob cleaner and it was v.difficul to keep the hob clean. There were also things that we really appreciated, including: - the view from the bedroom above the kitchen - what a joy to wake up to each morning - the position in the village - our favourite part of Loders/Uploders - the inglenook fireplace, although we didn't light it this time - the garden, in bloom with daffs and other blossom while we were there.

It was delightful and met our needs, thank you. It also felt well within the needs of Covid precautions. We felt it was slightly let down (but not to the detriment of our experience, for the purpose of feedback only) by the lawn not being cut and by the lack of cleanliness of some of the less important fixtures and fittings. For example, light shade in the kitchen and window edges very spotted by fly droppings. Hairs from other people’s dogs on cushions (we have dogs and so understand the difficulty, but always hoover up after ourselves). All minor points but possibly worth your consideration for future visitors. One equally small point, we felt it would have been more generous to leave one additional rubbish bag. Overall, a lovely holiday, great experience and we would happily go back to Pippins at Loaders, so we thank you for the opportunity. Kind regards Sue Crinson

About the location

BRIDPORT

Lyme Regis 10 miles; West Bay 2 miles.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.
