  • "We had a great week at Sea Drift, location was excellent for our purposes."

The 'cottage' was lovely and warm, the bed very comfortable. I agree with other comments I have read that a small comfy chair in the living room would be good then one can stretch out on the sofa while the other is also comfortable. We took a canvas camp chair and blanket which was great. In the kitchen I found the microwave a bit too high for safety, we are not all 5' 4" or above!!! The art work was delightful and a great change to ordinary prints.

  • "Noticed a few issues such as one of the toilet attachment bolts to the floor was practically falling out and cracks in paint near door frames."

Nothing dangerous but a little unsightly. I had more of an issue with the ice box in the fridge which was restricted by a large build up of ice and an ice cube tray stuck to the bottom, reducing its capacity significantly. And even worse was the sizable turd left in the toilet (got rid of with a single flush but why weren't the cleaners capable of such a task). And finally there is the noise from the neighbours. Quiet at night but if you're stuck inside on a rainy day you will not be getting much peace and quiet. On the good side, close to the beach and a great location to get to other points of interest.

  • "The property was basic; one lounge, one kitchen, one bedroom and one shower/toilet."

However, it was perfect for two people staying one week. There were two excellent instruction binders; one for the property and one for the surrounding area. Very helpful. There was everything we needed; we brought our own towels but didn’t need them. The oven and microwave proved invaluable as we were not too happy with the restaurants. It was off-season and many were closed. TV and Wifi worked well. A short walk away are Aldi, Sainsbury’s and a Tesco Express. Aldi boasts 8 EV charging points which is useful for those with electric cars. The location is in the middle of a large very quiet housing estate. The building construction was such that we heard the neighbours walking around as the floors and stairs creaked, not a problem unless you are a very light sleeper. Off-street parking was a bonus. Weymouth is not as close as advertised. The nearest part, 20 minute walk, is at the far end of the promenade. It is another 20 minutes walk to get to the shops. The local park, Lodmore Park, is a great place to stroll and not far from there is the RSBP water park. It is an excellent base from which to visit Monkey World, Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury Sub-tropical gardens, and much more.

The sofa is to small for two people to sit comfortable. Needs a bigger one or a separate chair. Not enough coat hangers only 6 for two people. Bedroom needs rearranging wardrobe and chest of draws need swapping places as can’t do makeup in the dark corner. Wouldn’t return as found property expensive for what it was

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Sea Drift, the property was clean with everything you need for a week's stay."

Located on a quiet street with Weymouth town centre being a 15 minute walk along the promenade. Only slight niggle is that we found the settee far too small for two people to comfortably relax, I would suggest a separate armchair also be provided. Other than that a lovely holiday.

A comfortable bed and an excellent shower.Good to have a dishwasher and washing machine. Reasonably easy walking distance to the beach and Weymouth centre via the lovely Lodmoor Park. Plenty of places of interest within easy reach, as is a Pub! Many nice pubs and eating places in Weymouth. However, as in line with other reviews, the lack of cutlery and china necessitated us using the dishwasher daily therefore using more water and power More utensils would mean less use of the dishwasher. Also mentioned by others was the small sofa. Perhaps two armchairs would be better. Finally, the stairs are rather steep and would not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sea Drift. Thank you.

It is a comfortable modern house located in a quiet residential area and I am happy to recommend it. When I had an issue during the week, Dream Cottages quickly sorted it. So thank you to them. I would stay again if visiting that area.

Need more cutlery and an extra oven shelf. Other than that, it’s a great place to stay in a quiet location. With a park just a short walk away and a gentle walk to the Esplanade, it’s ideal for a relaxing time. Great bus service from the stops beside Sea Life centre and with off-road parking at Sea Drift you can leave the car most days.

  • "Generally this is a very nice property for two people."

The facilities were very good and the location is good once you find the pleasant path to the beach and the frequent buses to the town and elsewhere. The property was fairly clean, but quite a few cobwebs and the vacuum cleaner's filter needed to be cleaned and washed. Hopefully we left the property cleaner than when we arrived! We found the sofa too soft and probably needs to be replaced.

  • "Sea Drift is a lovely little house in a very quiet part of town."

The property was spotless when we arrived and everything was as per the description on the booking confirmation, apart from no DVD. There was ample crockery and cutlery and a simple to use dishwasher, once I had found the book of instructions! There are no recycling bins but it was easy enough to bag it up and take to the Community recycling facility at Sainsburys, less than 1 mile away. (As far as I am aware, refuse from holiday cottages is classed as trade waste hence no bin collections from the door). The beach is a pleasant 10 minute walk through Lodmoor Park and the town centre is about 30 minutes along the Promenade. There is also a bus stop outside Sea World and a reasonable service into town. There is also another bus stop 10 minute walk away on Dorchester Road and this is a frequent service. The only problems we had in our week’s stay were - two seater settee needs replacement as it gets most uncomfortable after a while; the heated towel rail needs a thermostat valve on it as it gets too hot for comfort at times; the kitchen table and chairs are not the most comfortable and are showing their age. We were most pleased with this “find of a place to stay” and have booked to go back next year. Highly recommended.

  • "Sea Drift is situated very conveniently for a 5 minute walk to the beach or a couple of local attractions in the nearby country park."

Weymouth is a longer, but do-able walk (25 minutes), but there are plenty of buses on the coast road that go straight into town. The house is a fairly modern 1 bedroom starter home that I would describe as 'functional'. Nothing major wrong, but a few niggly things to be fixed over the winter: There isnt a wooden surface in the place that doesnt need a coat of paint, and I would have chosen a carpet over a hard floor in the living room. The dishwasher was too noisy to use while the house was occupied (there is no internal door between the kitchen and the main room). That said, using the place as a base for days out, it was fine, and we enjoyed our stay.

The property is small but perfect for a couple. We had originally planned to do a little bit of exploring, however we were lucky to have a full week of beautiful weather and it was too hot for walking, so we took full advantage and enjoyed the beach and sea instead. I would definitely book again for another holiday. I have given the comfort a slightly slower mark as it was l bit uncomfortable sitting outside on the pebbled area, the garden chairs kept sinking in, we had to sit on the small paved area next to the door which was behind the car,

Everything was as per the description, the property was clean and well decorated, and the perfect size for the two of us, while the location was convenient for both the beach and local bus routes. We would have no hesitation in staying here again, and will certainly look at Sykes' properties for future holidays. A couple of niggles: the bins hadn't been emptied, possibly for some time, and smelled quite badly, although we were able to put the recyclables and food bins out when the dustmen came round, which helped. Fortunately the weather wasn't scorching hot! There was no remote control for the DVD player, which was inconvenient. One leg of the dining table had to be wedged with cardboard, otherwise it wobbled. Apart from the above, which are relatively minor issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'Sea Drift'.

Pictures must have been taken with wide-angle lens. Rooms were tiny! Barely room for minute 2 seater sofa! Given that we had bad weather, we were forced to spend more time inside than ideal, and we were so cramped. Similarly, outside space was just the end of the drive, behind the car. We would also have appreciated instruction on how to boost the hot water. Sometimes there was not enough for 2 showers and we didn't find the boost until the day we went home.

Very close to the beach (around a 15 minute walk through a lovely park or around 20 minutes down the main road) it’s close to a bus stop if needing to carry things around Weymouth and having no access to cars. The house was very clean on arrival and was beautifully decorated! The bed was the comfiest bed I’ve slept in! There was a few issues that came about the longer we stayed- the shower would randomly turn off, the hot water was a constant battle and unfortunately the outside bins were full- wine bottles ect looked like they were pilled up over weeks and weeks. The recycling bin smelt whenever you walked by it and the main bin was a fight to get anything in it. Overall- these things are easily sorted (possibly having the bin timetable in blue folder- we understand bins are taken every two weeks as they rotate between recycling and general waste weekly) we found this out through the neighbours. Another issue was the fire alarm going off by even the smallest of tasks like doing toast. Was a lovely holiday and will definitely be going back to dream cottages next year! Thank you for the lovely stay!

The house is very compact with just a two seater settee to sit in comfort so can feel as though you are on top of one another especially if you put your elbows up when reading or drinking your cuppa you can easily nudge the person next to you. But as we were out and about most of the time not a real problem. The bedroom was more spacious and the bed was really comfortable and the shower is a good size also it is a bonus that it has a driveway for the car. The weather was lovely so we were able to get out and about, the Jurassic coastline is stunning and being Situated in Weymouth you can get to most places without driving too far, we even drove over into Sidmouth in Devon, Corfe Castle is a must and Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Went to Swanage and old Harry Rocks, if you park in the South beach NT car park there is a lovely pub with really good food and a drink for when you have completed the walk to the rocks called The Bankes Arms. They have an outdoor seating area across the road to enjoy the views and the sunshine. Overall a lovely holiday and some stunning photos.
