Lovely place to stay if you have good weather would have loved to have used the little garden but we chose a very bad week with rain

  • "The property was very good it has everything that you need."

The off road parking was very necessary in Milton Abbas, which is very pretty, but only one main road.

  • "Beautiful location very peaceful to chill out."

Fantastic area of Dorset for exploring both East and West with the coast within 10 miles. The Engine Room was exactly what we was looking for and Sharon the owner was very welcoming on arrival.

Bedroom rather small and difficult to get round the bed for elderly people!

  • "Lovely little cottage in a beautiful village."

It was adequate for our needs, as there was plenty to see in the area, which we haven't visited in a long time. It was lovely and clean and the owner very helpful. The village pub had good hospitality and very good food. The nearest town of Blanford Forum and good shops and amenities. Near enough to visit both the coast and the New Forest.

  • "The Engine Room was small but that was expected, it was perfect for a short break for a couple wanting to get away from it all."

The property owner couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and once she had shown us around and pointed out everything we needed to know we had 100% privicy. We were only there for a couple of nights so didn't have too much time to explore, because of this it would've been helpful to have a map of walks in the area to hand in the property (those that could be done from the door step). The Abbey is a must to visit, the views are breathtaking. The local pub was welcoming and friendly though the sample menu on their website didn't give a true flavour of the meals on offer. That said the food was perfectly ok and reasonably priced. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the property and will be using Sykes to find properties for short breaks in the future.

  • "What a find."

Just what we look for in a quirky holiday let. All the comforts of home provided. It was spotlessly clean. We we're within half an hour of the three circular walks we completed, one even started in the village so was able to leave the car. Found the postcodes on the information sheets provided for local attractions and amenities very useful for the sat-nav. Had a nice meal in the local pub too.

The owner was kind and helpful, and little touches like the welcome pack were very much appreciated. A great location..

  • "Selected this property for a romantic getaway and were very pleased with what we found."

Located in the building which once housed the village fire engine this property has been tastefully decorated and furnished making it both modern and cosy and the owner has obviously put a lot of thought into making her guests feel welcome with fresh flowers and milk, bread and butter all supplied. Our only criticism, if there was one, would be that it is a bit overstocked with crockery (how many teacups do two people really need?) and a little short on food storage space; but we managed fine for the week. Milton Abbas itself is a beautiful spot and the meal we had at "The Hambro Arms" on our last night was excellent.
