  • "A lovely house, in a lovely part of the country."

Not our first visit, and it won’t be the last. Not a criticism at all, but the TV has the most baffling remote possible; immensely entertaining trying to figure out how it worked!

  • "The cottage is in a lovely location."

It's very quaint and comfortably furnished. The sofa and king size sleigh bed are very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the large well equipped kitchen/ diner looking out at the river, which was lovely. There was a lovely welcome pack for us and our dog, which was a nice touch. The communication and instructions from owners slso very comprehensive. We never had any problem with hot water for bath or shower and the heating is controlled by hive thermostat so you can alter if needed. The cottage was always warm and we were never cold, despite not using the log burner. There is a Pub within walking distance and 3 others within a 10-20 min drive. There is a Spar inside the local garage for emergency provisions, but we had asda delivery whilst there The cottage is nicely situated for exploration of the south coast. We visited many beaches whilst there, all within 30 mins-1hr away. We also visited stonehenge which was an hour away. You don't need to leave the village if you just want somewhere peaceful to relax. My partner caught fish in the river too, which he was delighted about. We were very lucky with the weather though. 17 degrees and sunny mid October. The owners are lovely and were very kind to allow a short overstay due to storm babet. The housekeeper is also friendly and was happy to advise places to visit based on your interests We would strongly recommend the cottage for a holiday.

  • "We had a fabulous time in a great cottage and idyllic position."

The cottage was first rate and probably the best we've stayed in. Everything was provided for a great stay and we were made to feel very welcome, by our neighbour Claire who looks after the property. We particularly appreciated the large fridge freezer, as we ate in several nights and able to store all our provisions. Love Dorset and would definitely go again.

House had loads of equipment and was a bit quirky which was cool. Only criticism would be the smart TV which we found hard to use being of the older generation.

  • "The cottage was perfect."

..being cute, spacious, well situated and appointed... and also being in the middle of the village and right by the river...it was both convenient and very peaceful, tranquil and relaxing! The village was also chosen as it was pretty central and great for trips out to explore the coast or venues inland. Also for those who like a little relaxing river fishing... there are brown trout and grayling to be had - either trotting or fly fishing...which was great evening fun with a glass of wine And finally.... Claire the house keeper (who lives next door) was very friendly, kind, welcoming and helpful (if needed or required) so all in all...A Highly recommended getaway

  • "Amazing holiday at a simply fabulous property."

Location to die for so utterly peaceful and a great base to explore. The property itself is just wonderful, comfortably furnished and so homely and quirky. Terrace is just a magical place to while away the hours watching the river and wildlife. Clare was lovely greeted us after arriving and explained anything we needed to know. A few issues with the heating but nothing that couldn’t be managed with Clares advice. We will most certainly be back.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We very much look forward to your return to Riverside. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous riverside property."

Welcome pack- the best ever. The cottage is very old and quaint but full of modern amenities. Everything we needed was at hand, the kitchen is very well equipped and the patio area provided us all with views of the swans, a heron, water voles and bats! We would most definitely recommend ‘Riverside’ to others.

  • "The holiday cottage was very clean and welcoming."

The location with the river meant you could see wildlife from the windows and the rear patio and over the week we saw fish, crayfish, egrets, heron, voles, squirrels and rabbits. Not forgetting the swans which demanded their breakfast every morning! The kitchen had everything you would need and more for a keen cook. The welcome pack was lovely and much needed after a long journey the bread and cheese in particular were a big hit with the family. Claire next door came to ensure we had what we needed and gave us recommendations on where to eat and places to go. We were visiting Dorset to visit Monkey World after my daughter had watched the programmes in lockdown and this was about 40 mins away. Weymouth was about 25 minutes, Lyme Regis 40 mins. We were happy to travel and also found lovely walks from the village. The village shop over the road stocked some nice items and the Spar shop at the garage was also good. The local pub (Chalk and Cheese) not very good and the food would not be recommended but the nearby villages had nice places to eat but need to be booked. We enjoyed our stay at Riverside. Thank you!

  • "Loved this house, comfortable sofa's and very clean."

Beautiful location with the river running alongside the property, and two swans had settled across the river and visited us every day during our stay. It was very relaxing watching the many different varieties of birds. Clare who lived next door was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, the welcome pack was very good. The village was very friendly and we settled in quickly. The only downside for us was there was nowhere in the village to eat out, the French restaurant is closed permanently and the fish and chip shop only opens Thursday and Friday evenings and the Chalk and Cheese pub didn't open at all but speaking to locals this isn't unusual. Stratton is only 4 miles down the road and we had a couple of lovely dinners at The Saxon Arms.

Only suggestion for improvement would be a blind in the ensuite window for privacy and to reduce early morning light coming into bedroom. We will happily book it again.

  • "Riverside is a lovely property and its layout takes full advantage of its unique riverside location."

The decor is a mixture of contempory and period which suits the property perfectly. Large bifold doors open onto a private courtyard overlooking the river Frome and steps give access directly to the river bank. Prior to our stay we received a comprehensive welcome pack explaining everything about the property. Upon arrival we found essential provisions including milk, local cheese, bread, fresh coffee and wine in the fridge. Not long after our arrival we were greeted by Clare the housekeeper who shared her local knowledge of places to eat, local walks etc. If you are interested in wildlife and nature and are looking for a relaxing holiday then Riverside is the perfect choice

  • "The property is well maintained and exactly as described and pictured."

You can see the lovely river out almost every window of the house and it makes for a nice way to pass the time watching the birds. We’ve visited in winter, it took us a few tries to sort out the heating but eventually got there and the wood burning stove made for cozy evenings in the very comfortable living room. The kitchen is well stocked and inviting. Upon arrival we recieved a nice gift of fresh bread, coffee, cheese, etc which made us feel very welcome. We stayed as a couple but the home would be very comfortable for a group of friends or a family. To see the sites requires a drive, but we managed to see Durdle Door, Lyme Regis and Swange all within 40 mins. I really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return in the future.

  • "We had a great time at the cottage, it's a beautiful location and a very relaxing place to stay!"

I should mention for others wanting to stay though that there were 5 adults (two couples and a single) and the single bed was not sufficient for an adult and extremely uncomfortable to sleep. My mum had to sleep on the sofa downstairs for the week which was disappointing. If the bed was for a young child it wouldn't have been an issue but I do think this should be made clear to anyone booking. On a small but much less important note, the pictures advertised of the cottage suggested a coffee machine would be available but it wasn't, just mentioning it so others know what to expect. Thanks for having us, hope the above feedback is useful :)

The village is very well equipped, with a wonderful local shop selling quality produce and a Spar shop by the garage which is one of the best stocked Spar’s I have ever been in. The local Pub is well located and very friendly selling well made home cooked food with very friendly staff. The cottage is ideally located to explore the local area and coastline.
