  • "A large comfortable cottage in a lovely peaceful location."

The wood burning stove was great to have for the evenings. The only drawback we found was the lack of space to store/hang clothes in 2 of the bedrooms. We had fabulous weather in October and overall this was a great home from home.

  • "We were a party of 6 adults plus one baby and a dog."

The cottage was perfect for us in the recent heatwave - lovely cool interior. Beds, pillows, sofas were v comfortable. Safe enclosed garden for dog and small children. Easy parking. Great access to coast and inland. It's a character cottage so facilities were as expected and we were happy with provisions. Tea/coffee/biscuits and milk were a welcome surprise. You can hear traffic from the main road if that bothers you (it didn't us). The patio does need some repair work but overall we were very happy. Also a fantastic Thai food chef just minutes away (requires notice as freshly cooked).

Thanks for the positive feedback. Very pleased you enjoyed yourselves and found the cottage comfortable. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful geographical position, but road outside noisy and busy."

Accommodation okay, but bathrooms and kitchen unfortunately in need of a good clean. A few essentials missing, cafetière, clothes pegs, but otherwise fairly good. Patio dangerously broken and uneven, also steps down to back door tricky with wobbly handrail!

  • "What an amazing holiday we had."

Tim welcomed us with the keys and told us some interesting facts about the property particularly the Priest’s hole in the fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped with a range cooker and spacious. A private quiet patio that traps the sun all day leading from the kitchen door. The lounge was so comfortable and a TV that has a good signal and Sky etc. The bathroom was very spacious and a new bath mixer tap was fitted too. The shower room was big and brighter lighting above the mirrors in both rooms would be welcomed. The bedrooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. As a suggestion, additional clothes hanging space is needed and a freestanding mirror. The property is very close to beaches, pubs, restaurants, towns etc. Tim was at hand if ever we had any questions or problems during our stay. We will definitely come back to stay next year. Thank you

Very happy to hear how much you enjoyed our stay. We have tried to make it as comfortable as possible. Hanging space for clothes is a bit of a problem, guess when it was built the farm hands didn't have many clothes! We would love to welcome you back next year. Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from a week away at this lovely charming cottage."

We were given the keys upon arrival and also a lovely bit of history about the cottage. It was well kitted out, comfortable and clean, and my children were pleasantly surprised to have sky tv and good wifi! The gardens are well kept and we enjoyed many afternoons in the sunshine on the patio. The location was good and lots of beaches and cove were just a short car journey away! Although on a main road there was not much traffic noise at all especially at night! We really enjoyed our holiday, it was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful cottage with all the mod cons we needed.

Very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your holiday at Farmhouse Cottage, and found it was comfortable and well equipped. Did Tim show you the Priests' Hole? Hope you will return. Property Owner

  • "Disappointed in the overall standard of the property for the price paid in comparison with other holiday rentals we have stayed in and property in need of some upgrading."

The particular items I would highlight are: 1. Plumbing for shower and bath in one bathroom faulty and needed replacement. 2. Lights over wash basins in both bathrooms broken. 3. Locks on two upstairs doors broken. 4. Inadequate range of cooking utensils. 5. Kitchen and one bathroom overlooked by adjacent properties but no curtains to provide privacy. 6. Felt website photos gave a very different impression of the property and it's grounds compared to the actual reality. 7. No details supplied regarding rubbish collection.

  • "Great location to explore Dorset."

A lovely old cottage let down by level of cleanliness and poorly equipped kitchen. Also this property is next to a main road and a dairy, so if the cars don't wake you the 6 30 am work in the dairy will. Also I suspect the roof has a leak which and sounds like the water drips into a pot of some sort in the loft. Not a well maintained property and overpriced for what it is

Very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience at Farmhouse Cottage. I am surprised as this is the first time in almost three years that a guest has been so disappointed. I am not sure what dripping you heard, but I can assure there is no pot in the loft collecting water and we had our builders in just a few weeks ago, as we do every year, to make good any damage which might have been done and to look foe any repairs which need doing. I would be appreciative if you would email me with more specific details of your comments so that I can get everything in order - cshelbourne@tiscali.co.uk. Property Owner

Cottage very well situated and very comfortable. Beach within about 3 miles, good pubs and facilities. Would certainly consider returning. Took our dog with us and cottage had a good sized garden for him to run around. No negative comments at all.

  • "Beautiful cottage, sadly a few cleanliness issues ,thick grease in grill pan left in oven, cups and glasses cutlery needed washing before use, sitting room thick dust on lampshades and large coffee table needed wiping and polishing."

..a bit sticky...sad because bedrooms beautifully prepared with lovely sheets etc...outside area great for dogs and nice patio area...we understood Internet access not good also tv....intermittent ...some people may not have been so patient!Consequently as a result of all these issues we left early...not a relaxing holiday at all.

Sorry that you felt it necessary to leave early. The comments about the general cleanliness are noted, but it is not an issue we have had before. With regard to the Wi-Fi, this was beyond our control as BT closed down the wrong account and consequently service was discontinued. You were advised of this on your arrival by Tim and also by email, when you appeared to understand and were ok with the situation. We have since changed provider so this will not be an issue going forward. Free Sat TV runs independently of Broadband, so should not have been problematic. Property Owner
