We were celebrating a 26th and 80th birthday. We hadn't realised that they were actually two cottages. One with 2 bedrooms the other with 3. But this did work in out for us. . We congregated all in one or the evening and breakfast. The rooms were big and airy. The bed linen and towels were very clean. As were the rooms. Expect the doors to be draughty as they are old barn walls. It was lovely seeing the partridge in the gardens. We used the tennis courts a few times. Just remeber to take your own rackets and balls. Teaspoons were non assistant but these were replaced with ones we brought. The guest book gushes with lovely comments which u would agreed with. The villages are all friendly. We visited Fordingbridge a few times and the Rose and Thistle pub which is literally down the lane. The food I have reviewed seperatley. The showers are powerful but the showers over the bath lack power. The local resident dog popped he his round into the place. Very friendly had gone out on a pheasant hunt.and returned without her owner. We did.take a smaller dog with us..and although no sitting on furniture and no dogs upstairs in the bedrooms this was a good holiday for her also. Many of the pubs accept dogs. The only restrictions being in their resturants. She wasnt able to be let of her lead but we were on a working farm. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are two fridges in the bigger cottage. This enables us to have a drinks fridge and a food one. Walking down the road at night a torch or a mobile phone is essential. Though by the barn there are 2 security lights to help lead the way. Not that we needed it but there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. A real home from home...infact a little better! .

About the location

FORDINGBRIDGE

Salisbury 11 miles; Bournemouth 18 miles.

Fordingbridge is a traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town. The immediate area is a wonderful place for visitors, with its beautiful scenery, nature havens, cycleways and welcoming people. Fordingbridge is conveniently situated for the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury to the north, and the super seaside resort of Bournemouth to the south. The stunning New Forest National Park is only 1.5 miles from the town, where you can explore thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodland frequented by wild ponies, and dotted with quaint villages and country pubs. Within a short drive is the magnificent Elizabethan manor house at Breamore, as well as the New Forest Water Park, and a trip to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum is not to be missed. This is a great location for exploring this picturesque and interesting area.
