“The cottage was beautiful and spacious, had absolutely everything you would need for a weekend away or longer break.”

    ...

It was clean and well maintained, and the information left for visitors in the cottage on how the water heater worked, for example, was really helpful and easy to follow. My daughter was also impressed with the family games that were available! We did use the parking at the community hall (which is at the rear of the cottage), the arrival time at the cottage was set at 5pm, which meant in January we were arriving in the dark, so it was only once we were inside the cottage and found the information left by the owners, that we realised we could park there, we did leave our parking payment in the honesty box! One thing I had not realised was that Netherbury (where the cottage is located) was tricky to access. Once you turn off the main road, you are on a single track country lane for a reasonable distance. I hadn't really picked up on that from the listing. The other thing is that the village has a lovely church, with a clock that chimes at regular intervals, including throughout the night. I think for anyone staying here who is a light sleeper that might prove to be an issue. We did love the village though, it is a lovely example of a typical quaint English village, where you might expect to bump into Miss Marple.

The property

This three-bedroom cottage lies within the picturesque village of Netherbury, close to Beaminster and Bridport, conveniently placed for the Jurassic Coast and of course Dorset's central attractions.

The homely interior has been lovingly designed with families and friends in mind, also welcoming one well-behaved dog to its doors, with the large hallway being ideal for a dog-bed.

Follow the enclosed gravelled area towards the stable door, where you can choose to enter into the delightful kitchen, or alternatively the summery conservatory.

There is cosy a lounge/diner with a collection of 3 comfy sofas and a bean-bag with TV and a collection of good books, DVDs and games, a lovely place to snuggle up with a good book, or simply enjoy conversation over a home-cooked meal.

After a memorable evening, the upper floor brings you a peaceful night's sleep, with three sophisticated bedrooms including one double with en-suite, another double (king-size with a zip/link option) and one twin.

Softly furnished in a coordinated colour scheme, the pretty rooms will become your own little escape after a busy day out and about.

A family bathroom completes the cottage, classically presented with a shower over the bath.

For some time under the sun, why not spend an hour or two in the enclosed gravelled area with its host of furniture, somewhere peaceful to make plans and take in the fresh air.

Set in a picturesque valley, surrounded by rolling hills and wrapped around the river Brit, there is a tremendous community spirit in Netherbury with the Village Hall often showcasing activities and events.

The cottage is surrounded with delightful countryside walks and within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast beaches of West Bay, Burton Bradstock and Eype.

The wide main streets of Bridport contain more than a thousand listed buildings, these include the Court and West Mill in West Street.

There are still Wednesday and Saturday street markets held in the town.

A unique retreat in a cosy part of Dorset.
