  • "This spacious configuration of cottages was ideal for our party of 18 family members."

High spec, welcoming, main kitchen amazingly well equipped for large numbers, comfy beds and pillows, a games room for the young at heart! We've had lovely comments from all the attendees, and some memories were made! Thanks for the fresh eggs, milk, flowers and baked goodies which greeted our arrival. Will certainly come again!!

  • "Thank you for being so helpful with my 70th birthday celebration at your property."

Blessed by great weather, the children loved the garden, the competitive ones got together in the games room, and we all sat down together in Rose Cottage for lovely communal meals. We really enjoyed walking from the cottages in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Highly recommended. Mark Waddington

Thank you for your kind comments, I am so glad that you had such a great 70th birthday at our cottages. I do hope that you all decide to come again one day! Anna Property Owner

  • "The cottages were really nice."

We were a family of 17 and the facilities catered for. all our needs. The bedrooms were well furnished, bedding clean and fresh and the towels in the spotless bathrooms were of very good quality. The kitchen was large enough to cope with plenty of cutlery, crockery etc. Flowers, cakes, eggs and milk had been left by the owners in each of the cottages which. was an unexpected bonus. Lounges were great and the games room was used a great deal.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback - I am so glad that you enjoyed the cottages and I hope that you will be back again one day! Property Owner

  • "The cottages were perfect."

There were 20 of us, (that included 6 children) and there was plenty of room in Rose cottage for them to enjoy their stay without annoying the adults. On the second night we had dinner for all of us and there was sufficient cutlery, crockery and cooling utensils for us to cook our own meal. The dishwashers were also very helpful. It was also helpful to have facilities in the other smaller cottages to relax and sleep without disturbing others. The playroom was a bonus. The accommodation was exactly as described and met the expectations of all and, as the age range was 4 to 76 years, that was no mean feat! There were also 2 small dogs in the party.

Thank you for your wonderful review - we try so hard to cater to the large groups who choose to come and stay with us so it is great to hear that you had everything you needed for a happy stay. Thank you for leaving the cottages so tidy when you left - we hope you come again one day! A Property Owner

  • "We loved the cottages, loved the cakes flowers and the eggs in all cottages,Accommoded 17 of us with plenty of room."

We had a few issues but because the owners were isolating could not be recto fide during our stay. The games room was used alot. Lovely grounds, dogs welcomed.lots of lovely walks near cottages, lots of bridle paths. Would definitely use the cottages again.

Thank you for your feedback, whilst we were indeed isolating I did arrange for one of our cleaners to attend in order to discuss any issues which you had - you were not happy for her to come in to the cottages and we left it that you would be in touch if you had any further problems. I did not hear from you for the remainder of your stay. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay despite the issues and we would be happy to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "We used all 3 properties and they were fantastic."

My only feedback would be that the games room is a little lacking and the utensils could do with a restock but other than that it was really comfortable, clean and perfect for our family gathering.

  • "The property was lovely and the small touches added by the owners were a wonderful surprise."

They had decorated the 3 cottages for Christmas put fresh flowers in each one and left a slice of the most delicious homemade cake for each guest. The location was beautiful and it was the ideal place to hold our early Christmas get together. A great weekend was had by all 14 of us We could be going back next year.

  • "We booked the three cottages for our family party of 10 adults and a dog, to celebrate an early Christmas."

Prior to our arrival, we had had contact with the owner and she was extremely helpful. When we arrived, we were thrilled to discover that all three cottages had been decorated for Christmas. In addition to the spotlessly clean accommodation, we had been provided with tea, coffee, biscuits, eggs and milk. Although we spent the majority of time in Rose Cottage, it was very useful to have the other two for food preparation and a separate living space. All three cottages were cosy and warm and well equipped and we didn't need anything in the way of utensils. On our first evening there was a storm (unbeknown to us there was also a powercut) but the owner contacted us to make sure we were okay and that everything was alright. The fenced off area was great for the dog (under supervision) and it would be a delightful venue for a summer weekend for a large group as there are picnic tables outside, as well as a cosy autumn or winter break. Highly recommended and many thanks.

  • "Wonderful location for a family holiday and would definitely recommend the cottages - one little suggestion though: the lane up to the cottages is made up of a very rough road at around 300 meters long so visitors should be made aware of this on the description page - regular saloon cars may find this very difficult to navigate."

  • "Great holiday cottages for a large family in rural area which allows you to relax and recharge but also not too far away from places to visit."

Swing and slide was well used by younger members f the family and the garden was secure for dogs. We loved Newfield Cottages!

  • "Lovely cottages, we had a brilliant holiday."

So this is 3 seperate cottages, all with their own kitchens, lounges and dining areas. Combined outside area, which is a good size, with garden furniture and gas barbecue. Ping pong table for outside games. You could easily have 20 adults and have plenty of space inside and out. We were a large family group. Parking, we had 8 cars and there was space for more, you block each other in, but that was fine. Local pub, The Anvil, was a 40 minute stroll, you could go cross country or road, decent food and the staff very proactive with covid precautions. Cottages all clean on arrival, with covid paperwork. Felt clean, safe and welcoming. Phone reception was hit and miss, but WiFi was decent. This property is rural, and on a working farm, which was lovely and looked well kept. Lots to do locally, cider farm, brewery in Blandford, national trust properties galore, and lots more, really good location. You need a car, public transport look limited. I would recommend this property, and hope to return.

  • "Everything about the cottages was great."

Well stocked kitchen equipment, plenty of crookery . There was so much space for our family of fifteen. The look on my great nephews face when he saw the horses and run round shouting that he was going to live on a farm was priceless.

  • "What a beautiful answer for a family gathering."

Our party had 19 people spanning across 4 generations and 4 dogs - all had a brilliant time. There was enough space for everyone to gather and eat together, but also plenty of room to break out into quieter and noisier group when required too. The games room and the secure garden were also a big hit. Lovely Dorset countryside on the doorstop and not too far from the Jurassic coast for a spot of fossil hunting. Perfect place

About the location

Thornicombe 2.7 miles; Child Okeford 6.5 miles; Moors Valley Country Park & Forest 17.9 miles.

Blandford Forum is a market town in Dorset, England, situated by the River Stour. Notable for its Georgian architecture, most of the town was rebuilt in the 18th century after it was destroyed by a fire in 1731. King George II made a donation to rebuild the town centre with designs from local architects John and William Bastard. The Blandford Georgian Fayre is an annual event held in the first week of May and celebrates its Georgian heritage, with presentations, historical re-enactments and music and dancing. One of the town’s biggest events takes place on the late Bank Holiday weekend, the Great Dorset Steam Fair. A largely colourful festival with over 2,000 exhibits and an old time steam funfair. Offering a wide selection of independent store, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, cafés and a Georgian tearoom. So much to visit within this quaint town and makes for a wonderful tourist attraction, whatever the season.
