Richard and Tracey were wonderful and accomodating. The homemade ginger cookies were a lovely welcoming treat. Our sons (7 and 15) loved their rooms and settled in easily and so did our kittens who were a recent addition to our family. Both human and fur children enjoyed the view from the balcony of the neighbour's donkeys. Cointree was an amazing base to enjoy Dorset from and we would definitely recommend coming here.

  • "This property was everything we hoped for ,beautiful location ,quiet and not far from the main village which has so much character ."

Great walks for the dog and the local people are very friendly ,always took the time to talk and give ideas of places of interest .Shopping wise there is a Coop in the villiage that has everything you would need ,obviously slightly more than large food chains ,but parking was easy and no travel time .On our arrival we had a lovely note from the hosts with home made cookies ,cider and fresh milk in the fridge along with tea ,coffee etc .Loads of space and the kids made the most of the seating on the decking during the sunny part of the day .The property has air conditioning if you need it ,parking is good for two cars .Good base to travel from ,we could of asked for a better place to stay .If your looking for a quiet relaxing place to stay just book this .One word of advice this property has stairs leading up to it ,although my parents came to visit and are in there 80's and had little problem .Thanks to the hosts for a lovely stay .There is also loads of information at the property for places to visit .The only thing i could fault is the hot water seems to be pumped from the centre of the earth ,it is that hot ,which is great ,but maybe a few warning signs might be advised .

Thanks for your kind feedback David, we're so glad you all enjoyed the property and the area. Thanks also for the heads up on the hot water which has now been turned down to blue lagoon levels! Best wishes from us both Property Owner

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and Cointree was incredibly clean, comfortable and cosy! It had everything we needed. There was even a lovely little welcome package of juice, cider, biscuits and dog treats! One thing which was a bit tricky for me was that there was no garden - just decking so I had to go out late at night to walk the dogs. This wasn’t a huge problem but I just wanted to make dog owners aware. The decked area was enclosed and the dogs did enjoy lounging around on it during the day. A beautiful setting overlooking a field with donkeys and a wonderful view of the night sky! Some lovely walks and fields nearby. A short drive to some lovely pubs and little towns (and the weir). Sturminster Newton is a lovely little town within 15 mins max walking distance with a several shops and 3 extremely friendly pubs who serve food. Reception can be hit and miss at property (so switch on Wi-fi calling) before calling the Indian restaurant Mumbai bay does telephone deliveries. As mentioned on other reviews there is a motor bike training centre below but we found the noise/disruption extremely minor but then again we are early risers. Would I visit Cointree again? Most definitely it is a superb location to base yourself to visit Bournemouth, Sandbanks, Weymouth & Durdle door all within an hours drive and there is nothing better than coming back after a hard day exploring to the beautiful Cointree to relax on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery and of course the donkeys

  • "What more can we say!"

Cointree had everything that we required to enjoy a well deserved relaxing holiday. We were surprised by the size of the property! The balcony was extremely inviting on the sunny days to sit out and read and at night to lay back and watch the shooting stars. The new mattress which turned up a couple of days into our stay, is so deep and comfortable, although i didn't think there was anything wrong with the mattress which it was exchanged for. Yes it was hot at night, but it would have been hot in any household when we were there. Fans were on hand to help with this and they were quieter than the ones we have at home. There was a comment about the fuel smell from the business below in the mornings and the noise from the door at 8am. When we read this just prior to leaving our home in Cornwall we was expecting to experience this. All i can say is..... We didn't!! Thankyou so much Richard and Tracy for such a lovely stay and sharing your property with the people who want to explore/visit Dorset. A big thankyou to the whole family! We hope to be back sometime.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at lovely Cointree, It was perfect."

Anyone who finds fault with any aspect of it needs to get a life, stay at home, & leave those of us who love it more chance of getting a lovely holiday in Cointree. The bed was low as one hard to please reviewer moaned about, but we are two 70 year olds & had no problems with it, in fact it was very comfortable. It is above a motor bike storage garage, but the whole time we were at Cointree we smelt no petrol & heard very little sound. When people complain of fluff from the new towels making a mess, I just wondered if some make a career of moaning!! We had a lovely warm welcome from Tracy & a lovely welcome pack of goodies. I think the donkeys will miss their daily treat's of carrots & cucumber!! (Cut into pieces) Their antic's were so funny to watch from the magnificent balcony. This is a modern, warm, cosy & bright accommodation, & we loved it. It's an easy walk into Sturminster Newton, & you can cut the corner off & go through the old Mill grounds, along the bank of the Stour, across the recreation ground & into town. There are some lovely places to visit, & some great walks to have. We loved it & hope to return soon. Mike & Linda

  • "The accommodation was lovely, although it was very hot inside."

The king size bed at the back of the property was really low and soft, with a really thick winter duvet which made it too uncomfortable to sleep in as it was so hot. We decided to sleep in the room at the front which had 2 single beds. They were more comfortable but still had winter duvets on which were too hot for the time of year. We also had to sleep with the window shut as the noise from the A road was disturbing us, the traffic is constant at 60mph. We took our 2 dogs with us and found that the balcony was open so they could have escaped down the stairs and ran into the road. The owner put some board there for us so this was ok. We did miss having a garden for them as before bed we had to take them out and walk along the grass verge in complete darkness on the A road. A major point to mention was the overwhelming smell of petrol all the time in the property. A motorcycle training business is run from underneath the property and at 8am every day we were woken up from the door opening and the bikes being moved outside . If we left the windows and doors open we found the smell of petrol eased a bit but it was always present. The towels provided were new and because they hadn’t been washed they were not absorbent and left bits of red fluff everywhere. The remote for the tv stopped working so we knocked at the owners home but they were out, so we had to go and buy some ourselves. The area itself is lovely, with a short walk into the town centre. We went to a lovely pub called The White Hart, lovely and friendly with great food. There is a Coop store in the little town centre that is handy . The Bull Tavern pub was near to us too and was great. Plenty of nice fields to walk the dogs in. Went to Durdle Door, Dorchester, Lyme Regis , Shaftesbury and Cerne Abbas. Overall had a lovely time, good base to stay and travel around Dorset. Would be better to stay here if you didn’t have dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to review our new holiday accommodation. Your feedback is appreciated and has very much been taken on board. We are glad you liked the accommodation, area and dog walking. It is such a shame, however, you did not contact us at the time to sort the issues you had, the majority of which could have been sorted straight away. We encourage our guests to contact us via the phone numbers provided if we are not at home and read the welcome pack which suggests dog walks where you only need to cross the road not walk along it! The windows and doors have had heat resistant film applied and a gate for the balcony, a new double bed and cooler bedding are imminent!” Property Owner
