  • "I was quite surprised that the owners charge an extra ten pound for the week for a dog because of cleaning."

Perhaps the owner needs to get another cleaner because there was dog hair everywhere in the house when we sat in the chairs we had long dog hair over our clothes. My husband suffers from asthma and he felt quite poorly with all the dog hair. We have a little toy poodle that doesn't moult so this was not good for my husband. I feel that it needs a really good clean every were. Lovely cottage with great views. Sorry for being so negative.

This bungalow is like home from home. Everything you need is there, nice and cosy with a comfy bed to look forward to at the end of the night. Excellent if you’re taking pets as the garden is secure and we were also given access to the fields at the back of the bungalow to let the dog run loose. Didn’t adventure out much as we went over the New Year period so not sure of the surrounding areas but there is loads of booklets at hand to show you what’s on offer. David the owner met us at the property on arrival to show us around and nothing was too much trouble for him. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend

  • "Acorn Cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful holiday surrounded by countryside and wildlife."

It was heaven to just relax in the very private garden and gaze at the stunning landscape, with King Alfred's Tower on the horizon. We saw foxes, deer, pheasants, buzzards, red kites and busy house martins swooping over the fields to catch insects for their young. The garden was fully enclosed for our dogs, (once the mesh barrier was secured on the archway), and they loved to have a good run in the large field behind the garden. We visited and would thoroughly recommend Stourhead, Sherbourne Castle, Iford Manor Gardens and The Bishop's Palace Gardens in Wells. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything you would need for a week away. Thank you David for your warm welcome.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have installed a new wifi system which is now giving full coverage for the cottage with good stability and speeds. Property Owner

! the cottage was not ready and not cleaned with no bed made up etc, so we had to do some cleaning. The sofa bed mattress was too thin for adults to sleep on with any comfort being only about 2” thick this resulted in the other couple in our party sleeping on this sofa having to go home early. The cottage was cosy and warm in a lovely area In spite of the problems mentioned we would consider a return
