  • "We loved our short stay at Larkrise."

Lovely house in a beautiful area. It was clean and comfortable, with absolutely everything you could need. Lovely garden with some great views. A great base for exploring the New Forest, we loved seeing the horses and cows too! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit the area.

  • "The property is located in a very secluded and quiet area."

Spacious with three bedrooms there is more than enough space for a large family. The house is well presented and clean. The garden is large with several naturally kept lawned areas. Surrounded by wildlife we saw ponies, horses, cows and birds. Deer were seen in the adjoining paddock and in the garden. Open walks over Newforest scrub land to the right and up the hilll a few minutes away. Amazing relaxing place to stay

Lovely garden and nice view. Larkrise had everything we needed, it was nice to find milk in the fridge and the welcome pack of snacks.

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the New Forest."

Appreciated the warning about the steep exterior steps but didn’t realise just how high they both were as my elderly mother was not able to use them - handrails would be a huge improvement. The exterior wall lights both at the front and rear of the cottage were not working. There is a panic alarm button at the foot of the stairs in the hallway which I inadvertently pressed when holding on to which set off the main alarm system. There is no warning notice to inform guests and I wonder how many other guests have pressed it by mistake? It rung for five hours before I plucked up the courage to find the alarm control box to switch the system off again. Sorry to the neighbours for the loud noise. Overall an enjoyable visit made specially by the large herd of deer visiting each day. We will return again. Thank you.

It just was a very cold house which is not good when you have a 16 week old baby so I wouldn’t recommend

  • "Larksrise is a lovely holiday cottage."

I am rather disabled with osteoarthritis in multiple joints and, unfortunately, we had to abandon our stay after just one night as all of the furnishings were too low which made it impossible for me to get out of bed, sit in or on any of the chairs and, once in the lovely conservatory, the step back into the lounge was too high. I, also misread the description of where the second double bedroom was, as we spent ages looking for it on the ground floor. It was also impossible for me to get into the shower and my husband, at six feet tall had to stand in the hall to dry himself. I appreciate that I should have made more enquiries before going ahead with the booking but thought you would like to hear these comments as I am sure there will be other people who have similar issues to my own. For an ordinary family holiday it is ideal and the owner has obviously made it really comfortable and pleasing to the eye.

We managed to relax even with two under 5s! The house was incredibly clean and the host had thought of every little detail so the house was well-resourced. I can't think of one negative. Will definitely be booking again.

Well equipped with everything we needed. A relaxing & interesting garden with an abundance of wildlife. A short, but steep walk to forest heathland and also a short walk to the local pub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here straight after the lockdown restrictions and would love to stay here again. S & J
