  • "Wonderful views and location."

Could be smartened up. Suggest a grab handle is fitted in the shower area. Quite dangerous for anyone unsteady on their feet.

Hi Yes I agree, grab rail would be a useful addition to shower. Will sort this prior to next season. Hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The only thing I would add would be a hoover especially having a young child it’s easier to keep clean. The owner left us biscuits, milk and tea which was much appreciated thank you. Beautiful views, cosy and a well equipped chalet. We will treasure the happy memories of the holiday forever and will look forward to returning.

  • "On the day of arrival we were greeted with no running hot water, but only a electric shower."

We rang both emergency numbers and got no response until Monday where linstone chine were pleasant but unable to help due to been chalet was privately owned. When we contacted sykes about the issue we then a found on the Sunday a note inside a bag with a box of chocolate biscuits. The note explained fully what the owner had experienced with her boiler/tank breaking two hours before our arrival. This note clearly shows the owner knew before we arrived and sykes knew nothing about the breakdown. If we knew before we got there I would of been open to going to another site. But been as I have a disabled wife and a family I would have to repack when I EVENTUALLY knew about the lack of running hot water. So I would of been exhausted with moving. The state of the bathroom was deplorable, there was brown scum around all the taps and around the tiles. There was heavy brown staining on the laminate floor. I seriously think the bathroom was last cleaned wnen jimi hendrix played the Isle of wight festival!!!! .(photos were sent to sykes) I was determined not to let my family to use the bath until I took photos and spoke to sykes about both issues. Access was tried on 2 occasions by the owner and in the 2nd occasion I had a phone call from the owner asking why the key was not in the safe, my reply was it was with me. The owner asked what time we would be back because she wanted her plumber to measure up the loft hatch to make sure a new tank would fit through. I obliged and got back within 45 mins. The plumber measured up and went that night.whoever cleans in that bathroom seriously needs to up their game. A refund was eventually agreed of £200.after this I tackled the bathroom and left in a better state. Now if i didn't contact sykes would the owner let things continue on??, I think she would of. In the visitors book if you leave a constructive comments about the lack of cleaning, the owner has left comments about the people who stayed there. People have saved long and hard to book this chalet and the owner/sykes are charging top dollar for this below par 1970's chalet, so I personally think the owner is borderline arrogant when challenged. I will not be booking this chalet again as I think my family deserve a LOT better. Finally i would like it noted it gives no pleasure stating this

My profuse, repeated apologies for lack of hot water coming out of appropriate tap. Unfortunately I only discovered this failing a couple of hours prior to your arrival. Fortunately there is an electric shower and kettle. It’s a shame that after your enjoyable holiday at our property last year, this year was a less positive experience. I can assure you I spend considerable care and effort cleaning the chalet every Saturday morning. Property Owner

  • "Living Room/Kitchen - dangerously hot water from kitchen tap."

Frying pan needs replacing. Broken tin opener. Filthy top shelf of saucepan cupboard.Thick dust on TV table. Old cobwebs behind Radio on mantlepiece. Bathroom - shower totally inadequate (came out of the ark!). Water pipes between the toilet and bath very dirty. Bath panel needs fixing. Heated towel rail in need of repair. Bedroom 2 - squashed mosquito on wall above head ( I left it there). Totally inadequate hanging space for clothes - one wardrobe, more than half filled with pillows, electric blankets and blankets, for 2 bedrooms. There were only two of us - am not sure how a family of 4 would cope. This is all about the property. Very disappointing. The view from the bungalow, however, was stunning.

I do hope you managed to enjoy your holiday despite the many faults you identified with our property. Many of our clients return every summer which I think says more about the chalet than any of your negative - and frankly spiteful - comments. Keep spreading the love and joy! Property Owner

After a telephone call this was delivered in a couple of hours. The cottage was warm and had all you need for your stay. The bathroom is a little tired, but has everything you need.

Sorry about the ‘blip’ which I’m pleased to say was rectified quickly. Agree that some areas not so asthetically pleasing but believe this is reflected in the Sykes pricing scale; The price paid is remarkable for location and view. I hope you agree as I see you wrote in visitors book that you’d consider staying again? Property Owner

  • "Brilliant holiday in a lovely property."

Fantastic views and very clean and comfortable. A few minor niggles. The toaster is faulty and takes a lot of fiddling to get the toast right (I find this in a lot of properties I have stayed in). Also, when, oh when will holiday cottage builders/owners realise you need a thermostatic instant heat shower. Cheap non-thermostatic Tritons are so variable in temperature. Cold showers or scalding hot water depending on whether someone else in the property, or next door, runs the cold tap to fill the kettle. I have found this in camping shower blocks, too. It isn't necessary. Thermostatic units are not that much more expensive. (I am a retired bathroom fitter so this detail really annoys me!) HOWEVER, we had probably our best holiday ever in this property. I would recommend it to anyone. There is such a lot to see on this small island. My compliments to the owner for cleanliness. WE really enjoyed our stay and if we come back to the IOW this property will be our first choice.

Thanks for taking time to submit detailed & constructive feedback. So glad to hear how much you enjoyed your holiday. Toaster has been replaced this season and looking into your suggestion to replace shower. Property Owner

Appreciate the efforts by the owner leaving milk and biscuits there on arrival. Only negative things I can say is the ceiling above the bookcase looked like it had previous been leaking. This could do with urgent attention before the next lot of bad weather. Also the little freezer keeps over freezing this leading to having difficulty closing it to seal it properly Apart from that it was an excellent property, I hope to book with you again soon.

Thanks for taking time to give feedback on your recent stay at Cliff End. We aim to do a little upgrading each winter in preparation for following season. I think a new fridge is on the cards with the decoration. Property Owner

The home if full of information leaflets of things you can do, dvds, games, books, and even toys for children. It is pretty small but they have made use of the space well. Would definitely return. We was only left 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. If you have 4 guests i advise you take some of your own towels.

Glad you enjoyed lovely views from chalet. Some of the main tourist attractions do only open for summer season which generally begins Easter. It depends what you’re looking for during your stay really I suppose. Recent closure of site shop means nearest food shop is in Freshwater village a 5 min drive from chalet. Property Owner

  • "The kitchen was very well equipped, so thank you!"

There was a pair of kitchen scissors with the handle broken which needs to be replaced and also a coat hook on the back of the bedroom door that was broken. Both of these were discovered upon arrival but they didn't inconvenience us. The view was spectacular!!! The sofas are really past their best with very little support underneath and the bedding and towels also a bit faded, not that we were bothered, but just for feedback. We appreciated the thinner summer duvets too...something that is often overlooked! It was great, and much appreciated, to have so many towels and tea towels, plus soap, washing up liquid, detergent and toilet role. The tea bags and milk were also GREATLY appreciated. There was a great selection of books. Our suggestion to be to get rid of the brown kitchen unit to create more space in the kitchen, as the remaining cupboards have got more than enough space for utensils and food. the freezer box really needed defrosting but thank you for the use of the ice packs! The shower is also a bit problematic. Other than that, everything had been thought of! Thank you.

The tiles in the bathroom had black mould. The oven was filthy. The bedroom was so small there was barely room to move and we were constantly banging ourselves on the furniture. The location was good but the cottage needs a total revamp to justify the rates being charged.

Had everything we needed for a lovely holiday. We enjoyed it enough to book again for next year, so our comments are meant to be helpful. Although we had a great time, a couple of things would have improved our stay. The shower worked fine for us but the bath badly needs a non-slip mat and it would be nice to have a bath mat, the cork board provided is not fit for purpose. The toilet does not flush efficiently requiring several repeats. The bed was really comfortable, but the sofas are very low and the seat cushions are flat.

NEGATIVES We did not have big expectations of this property as only rated 3* but however we did expect it to be clean! It wasn't!!! There were cobwebs in every room. Utensils, some crockery and glassware were dirty. Hand prints on patio doors. Excess dust and hair on top of headboard in double room which was exceptionally cramped with sharp metal hinges on wardrobe door at pillow height. Bath very slippery when using shower. Property needs complete deep clean. Furnishings old and dated with no support on sofa seats. Fridge appeared clean on initial opening but ice box compartment dirty with something stuck inside! Oven had not been cleaned. Surrounding areas around cooker greasy. Kitchen cupboards contained a party used garlic head. Sugar in container complete with tea/coffee stains. Old opened tub of dried milk. Musty smell throughout chalet - helped by having windows open throughout our stay. My white soled slippers were filthy by the end of our stay and were disposed of as we left for home! The standards of cleanliness were not as they should have been particularly in these unprecedented times of COVID 19. Photos available if required to support these complaints.

Also the access road to the site was atrocious and would not be surprised if the car had not been damaged. Secondly there was not any shop within the site so to get any supplies you had to get in the car to freshwater. We would not go back there the only plus side was the chalet was nice and well equipped and the view exceptional.
