Would advise you to look at the opening of the door lock from the inside. Very difficult to turn the key at times.

  • "Stunning property, perfect location, lots of facilities - and little extras which were an added bonus, just small note; would’ve liked spare light bulbs provided as one bedroom had a blown bulb and had to remove one from downstairs light to replace it and wooden hand rail really needs a very good clean."

Apart from that it is very clean with good quality bedding/towels/etc. Shame only x1 parking space and as previous people have said it is a very noisy property - everywhere wooden floors that creak and barn style latch doors so if like us, you need to use toilet in the night, it wakes the whole house up (think it would be extremely noisy if you have young children staying - can clearly hear people in next room talking and also if downstairs sitting in lounge) so just be aware but upon saying this we would all definitely recommend this beautiful property (creaks and all) and it’s perfect gated location, literally a minutes walk from the harbour - it’s the best place we have stayed in Weymouth with loads of facilities (including a washer/dryer which was very useful) and such a great location; we will definitely be returning!

  • "The property had been refurbished and redecorated to a seemingly very high standard, but unfortunately within a couple of days we noticed water appearing in one corner of the kitchen."

We eventually deduced that the leak was in some way connected with the usage of the ensuite situated above. Then, to our disgust, we discovered that the source of the leak was the toilet waste pipe, to which all other ensuite waste pipes (shower, wash basin) were connected. By this time food stored in the kitchen cabinets and on the worktops below had been contaminated and was thrown away. When we informed Dream Cottages about this, we decided that the best option was for us to cease using the leaky ensuite altogether, as any attempt at a full repair would have involved removal of the built-in kitchen cabinets in order to gain access to the toilet waste pipe situated behind them. The result of this was that we only had one bathroom for seven people, which was very inconvenient, to say the least. As if this wasn't enough, when it rained during our second week, we discovered that the newly glazed kitchen window was leaking badly in several places, so much, in fact, that we needed to position several pans and even sandcastle buckets to catch the drips. We informed Dream Cottages about this, and a tradesman arrived next day to carry out a repair - this was not completely effective, but did reduce the number of drips from six down to one. So, all in all, mixed feelings about the property - no doubt the owner has spent a fortune on the refurbishment, but has clearly been let down by the quality of work carried out. I should point out that we have stayed at George's House before, and enjoyed it immensely. It is a very comfortable house in a great position for accessing the delightful Old Harbour and also Nothe Gardens and Newton's Cove. No doubt when the problems mentioned have been addressed it will once again be a superb holiday accommodation. I would hope that we will be offered some compensation for the inconveniences detailed above, and for the fact that facilities for which we had paid handsomely were not available for much of the holiday.

  • "Lovely property."

Cozy, warm and comfortable. Spotlessly clean and very convenient location Nice and new. Very comfy beds and linens. Great bathrooms and entry way. Lovely new utensils, etc. Could do with a little more wardrobe space. Steps up to property are not for the elderly and security gates are great but a pain to keep opening and closing in wind and gales, off season. We enjoyed our stay and certainly served us well and would recommend. Lovely and quiet there off season. Slept really well.

I would stay at the property again but only as a family. I wouldn’t recommend for larger parties as you can hear every single noise mainly due to the flooring being floor boards.

The only reservation I have relates to parking. George's House is large enough to accommodate up to 8 people (presumably at least two carloads) but has only one parking space. The cottage adjacent has three. I don't know what the protocol for the allotment of spaces is, but another space for this property would save a great deal of inconvenience.

  • "We had a great stay on the whole and really enjoyed the property."

One thing though, the super king size bed/twin room was not great as we couldn't get the beds to join together so I wouldn't describe it as a super king size, it's two beds really and should be described as a twin room only. Great location and we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "The positives: This is a lovely holiday let perfect location close to the harbour and right next door to Brewers quay and it’s restaurants."

It is a really good sized property with great toilet/shower facilities The stairs are quite difficult if you have mobility issues being wooden and quite steep Great gated property with parking which was a godsend. My negatives It could be cleaner There is so much dust everywhere! and if you happen to move any furniture for whatever reason it’s not good. You are unable to check in until 5 because of the ‘supposed ‘deep clean’ that has to be carried out these days so you lose a day and then find that a deep clean has not been carried out. The dreams cottages office is right next door to the property and they were fantastic when we complained about the mattress in the master bedroom (it sunk in the middle) this was changed for us 10/10 for customer service

Only thing that let it down was cleanliness, it had a good surface clean but other areas were thick with dust. Only other thing to mention is the gulls, when it's hot, having windows open is a must but be prepared for a 5am wake up call from them shrieking, obviously not the fault of the cottage though. Had a great week and would recommend the place

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!

Note: Allocated parking for one car only in electronically gated secure residents parking area. Note. Guests are required to bring their own cot linen.
