The property

Bluebell Cottage is a romantic bolthole which has been wonderfully converted from a former farm building, located on a 6 acre working small-holding in the Somerset village of Higher Odcombe, adjacent to Ham Hill Country Park.

Whilst still retaining many original stable features, this is the perfect quiet countryside hideaway for couples to enjoy in this fabulous Somerset location.

Enter this stone cottage into a fully-equipped kitchen lined with crisp white units and a lovely dining table, seating up to four people.

Adjacent to this is a tastefully finished sitting room, designed with comfort in mind as a snug three-seater couch is paired with a Freeview TV, while uplifting patio doors flood the room with natural light.

Also in this ground floor getaway is a glistening all-white bathroom, which offers the choice of a bath and a separate shower cubicle for you to prepare for each day.

The welcoming king size bedroom completes the accommodation, with a feature stable door which you can open in the warmer weather.

Bluebell Cottage benefits from head-clearing outdoor areas, you can spend some quiet time relaxing outside, or choose to roam the six acres of grounds, accompanied by the most wonderful rural views.

The well-known Ham Hill Country Park is close by, based on an iron-age hill fort offering 120 acres open access, with spectacular views.

Situated in South Somerset and bordering Dorset, you have easy access to all of Somerset and Dorset, including Weston-super-Mare, Quantoxhead, Minehead, Somerset levels and Glastonbury.

Visit Dorsets Jurassic coast resorts and walking routes, such as Weymouth and Lyme Regis, with beautiful Dorset countryside from Cranborne Chase in the east to Marshwood in the west, including AONB around Beaminster.

About the location

ODCOMBE, SOMERSET

Yeovil 3 miles.

The quaint Somerset village of Odcombe nestles on a hillside close to the vibrant town of Yeovil. It is actually a village of two distinct parts, Higher Odcombe, near the top of the hill with its impressive village church, and Lower Odcombe with its pretty cottages and friendly village pub, which is well known for its local micro-brewery. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, many of the cottages have been built from the lovely warm coloured hamstone, quarried locally, giving the village a charming olde-worlde atmosphere. The adjacent village of Montacute is most well known for Montacute House a superb Elizabethan mansion with stunning gardens, now managed by the National Trust, widely used as a location for films including ‘Wolf Hall’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’. Nearby Yeovil offers a good selection of shops and restaurants, as well as a lively theatre, multi-cinema and 10-pin bowling alley. An easy drive takes you to Yeovilton's Fleet Air Arm Museum, or Haynes Motor Museum, and also within reach are Ham Hill Country Park, Ninesprings Country Park and a number of National Trust properties. Alternatively, explore mystical Glastonbury, or the UK's smallest city, Wells, with its majestic cathedral. With ancient Sherborne, and its castles and abbey, as well as the scenic Dorset coastline both easily accessible, you will find plenty to do within easy reach of this charming Somerset village.

    “Bluebell cottage exceeded our expectations.”

We were very comfortable there and will definitely book again and have already recommended it to some friends. The standard of the facilities was incredible and really was a 'home from home'. Everything had been catered for.
