  • "Lovely holiday cottage with stunning views."

If you love birds this is the place for you. An abundance of different varieties come and visit the bird feeder throughout the day whist buzzards soar above. Well positioned for peace and quite yet close to local shops and pub. Everything you need is in the cottage for a relaxing break with a welcome pack full of treats to enjoy in a spotlessly clean well equipped accommodation. Highly recommend holidaying at Little Orchard.

Thank you very much. You are welcome any time. Property Owner

  • "Little Orchard is a delightful, spacious bungalow with every amenity to ensure a happy holiday."

The owners left us a lovely welcome pack and were charming and helpful. The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. The views of the surrounding countryside were beautiful and it was lovely to watch the birds at the feeders from the dining table. We had booked the local pub a few weeks before and the sunday evening dinner was delicious. Sadly it rained for two whole days while we were there but it didn't stop us exploring and we had a lovely, lazy couple of afternoons with lots of magazines and DVD's supplied by the owners. I would definitely recommend Little Orchard.

However, it should be pointed out that the roads around Odcombe are very narrow, and sometimes steep. Sometimes driving in that area can be a little frightening!

The house has been completely renovated and the decor is fresh and bright. We visited in winter and found the gas heating/gas fire kept the house warm and cosy. Overall, we thought that Little Orchard is a nicer house than the photographs led us to expect. We will definitely return.

  • "We have had a really lovely time at Little Orchard in Odcombe, Somerset."

Comfort, cosiness and contentment in all aspects of the holiday. Everything was catered for. Fresh flowers, chocolates, milk, cheese, wine, butter, fresh bread for a start. Beautiful views from the large garden, from which we were allowedto take carrots for a couple of our meals. We enjoyed watching the little birds in the garden too, such a luxury for us as we mainly only get to see gulls and magpies at home. We visited Sherborne Castle and surrounding area, Montacute House, and Wells Cathedral which were all worth visiting. Coffee and cake in The Village Cafe in East Coker was delicious and very reasonably priced. If you enjoy walking there are lots of places to have walks to enjoy the countryside. The time just flew while we were there and it was difficult to think about leaving. The owners of this lovely home really know how to give you a lovely holiday. One of the most comfortable places we've stayed in

It was like home from home. We arrived to find everything we needed, plus extra treats, which was such a lovely surprise. My only reservation about the cottage is if you have a large car turning it round in a very small space could be difficult. Other than that 10 out of 10. Perfect! Many thanks to the owners for making our holiday such a wonderful time.

The picture and descriptions sold it for us but they did not do justice to the propert and we were surprised at how spacious the house and garden were. There was every facility we needed and a few more to boot. A charming blend of contemporary convenience and orriginal furnishings. Private, peaceful, calming. Ate breakfast either watching the birds on the feeders or in the conservatory soaking in the views and the sun. Kids had plenty of room to play and loved the property too. Pretty village, close to local superstores, national trust properties and plenty to do in the nearby areas. (Make sure you read the directions given to get to the property and don't rely only on a sat nav) We met the owners who were really lovely, welcoming and couldn't have done more to make our stay nicer. Lots of nice thoughtful touches throughout the property in terms of facilities and surprises. Would highly recomend it - We do hope to return here as we loved our week and the property really made our holiday, can't say enough nice things about it!!

About the location

ODCOMBE, SOMERSET

Yeovil 3 miles.

The quaint Somerset village of Odcombe nestles on a hillside close to the vibrant town of Yeovil. It is actually a village of two distinct parts, Higher Odcombe, near the top of the hill with its impressive village church, and Lower Odcombe with its pretty cottages and friendly village pub, which is well known for its local micro-brewery. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, many of the cottages have been built from the lovely warm coloured hamstone, quarried locally, giving the village a charming olde-worlde atmosphere. The adjacent village of Montacute is most well known for Montacute House a superb Elizabethan mansion with stunning gardens, now managed by the National Trust, widely used as a location for films including ‘Wolf Hall’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’. Nearby Yeovil offers a good selection of shops and restaurants, as well as a lively theatre, multi-cinema and 10-pin bowling alley. An easy drive takes you to Yeovilton's Fleet Air Arm Museum, or Haynes Motor Museum, and also within reach are Ham Hill Country Park, Ninesprings Country Park and a number of National Trust properties. Alternatively, explore mystical Glastonbury, or the UK's smallest city, Wells, with its majestic cathedral. With ancient Sherborne, and its castles and abbey, as well as the scenic Dorset coastline both easily accessible, you will find plenty to do within easy reach of this charming Somerset village.
